Hello Randy. Just wanted to take a few minutes and let you know that I have been really enjoyed your tips on lure modifications! I fish out of a Hobie Pro Angler 12 kayak and love fishing for bass here in some of my home lakes and gravel pit ponds. I like your teachings and instructions on how you fish! I’m grateful to have found your RUclips channel and look forward to your uploads. Tight lines Randy!
I’m so glad you mentioned your favorite frog rod stiffness, I got a 7 foot medium heavy Ugly Stik to use as a cheap frog rod cuz I couldn’t find the heavy at Walmart. I was thinking something similar to you, that the medium heavy will bend a little more to pin that fish a bit easier. I gotta get some braid and then it’ll be ready, I can’t wait to use it! Greetings from Florida, the land of froggin!
This guy even thanks you for tuning in for a few minutes, I mean decades of knowledge and giving it out for free to help out the fishing community, what a gentleman if you ask me, I just wish there were more than him, thank you very much for the help, really appreciated.
Randy thank you for constantly sharing all your tips. As a new fisherman of a year I found it frustrating to know what to fish with, Color of water, type of cover, depths so on and so forth. There is so much to it that I think I would have quit fishing if I wouldn’t have found your channel. Please keep the information coming you have helped me more than I can express. 😎
Sometimes I superglue a peace of Velcro the loop side on the top of my frog so the basses sandpaper like teeth gets tangled in the Velcro and gives me a extra sec to set the hook. Do you think that is a good idea?
I've caught more bass than I can remember on a white booyah pad crasher. Skipping it into the shade pockets and around cuts in the bank where there's cover. Thanks fir the tips 👊👍.
Awesome info ! So tie braid direct, no leader, Sir ? Haven't tried fogging yet but had just bought a frog, after all these decades. This info should save me frustration.
I spent around 100 dollars on my frog box for this season. Quit question for Randy or you bass nerds, do you throw smaller bodied frogs in the spring to sort of match the hatch or just go full sized off the get go? I experimented with sizes last year and had a lot bigger hook up ratio on a slightly smaller frog throughout the year, but I didn't get into them enough last spring
Good question. IMHO the smaller frogs are less obtrusive to bigger bass tucked way back in cover. Many times we don't realize we just hit the fish in the face back in that spot under a lay down. Good luck this year hope you get em🐸🐟👊
Randy can you give us your tips on the hook sets. There seems to be two camps on whether you wait to you feel the pull or to hit them when you see the frog disappear. Thanks for all the great info.
I have heard that the frog should have kinda of a V bottom instead of a flat bottom.. They say that they swim like a spook better.. Your opinion please ??
The 7’ Heavy Falcon HD rod is the best rod for frogging. It has a perfect tip that bends down through the rod and has a strong backbone. Feels like a medium heavy with a heavy backbone. And it’s only $70
Hey Randy, big fan, but I was wondering if you could put the recent weather conditions of where you're at in the description so that people like me that live up north can know what weather to look for for each of these strategies.
One of my many goals this season is to get better with frog fishing. Thanks for the video as always Randy! I also wanted to ask if you'd ever consider doing a bank fishing video, not just talking about it but some raw footage of you fishing from the bank maybe local parks or creeks and show us how you used to do things? A lot of us out here are mainly bank anglers. Tightest of lines to you my friend thanks again for all the content.
So before in dirty water you say to use dark colors for crankbaits/plastics but herr you say you use white in dirty water and natural colors in clearer water. Am i missing something here?
As always, Brother...LOVE the video! Just a little tip on what I always do to my frogs before I use the pliers to soften them up, I have a pot that I use to boil water and place the frogs in. I will let them boil for about 10 minutes and take them out and let them cool for about 5 minutes and boil them again and then use the pliers. Just a precautionary statement, whatever you use to boil the frogs in, DO NOT EVER use it for cooking EVER again!
Frogs are such versatile baits. My favorite frog is the booyah road runner jr or the poppin perch by striker king. The commotion shad by livetarget is great as well.
I knew the original soft frog lure inventor's son Harry...who ran the Sangproof lure company after his father died. Harry's father worked at Goodyear in Ohio when he developed the lure. Snagproof even sponsored Ish Monroe approx 30 years ago.
No i would think when youre skipping under tangles of branches like what a frogs for it would snag up to easy. Unless youre in open waer but most would use a spook or plopper there. Unless u think they dont see the frog in open water and it might work on pressured bass, then i would try it
Love your videos and I would watch more but I work a lot and I don't have a lot of time even on my breaks is there anyway you could shorten them just a little bit I know it's a lot to ask but I can't be the only one right thanks and keep those lines tight
Frog 🐸 fishing is so addicting!!! Awesome video!!
Great open water frog tips. Thanks Randy

The hat😁the 🐸 frog😬that's one lure that I can't seem to do good at😞but I'll try it again🤓thanks for the tip Randy🤓
I really appreciate all the information you share on here. Is there a reason you don’t boil the frogs to soften them vs using the plyers?
Yellow or orange belly works great too
Sometimes I superglue a peace of Velcro the loop side on the top of my frog so the basses sandpaper like teeth gets tangled in the Velcro and gives me a extra sec to set the hook. Do you think that is a good idea?
Your a legend! Your videos are the best on RUclips!

To be completely Honest I've seen quite a few Frog Modification video's the last few years on RUclips. This one takes the Cake by a long shot!
Awesome info ! So tie braid direct, no leader, Sir ? Haven't tried fogging yet but had just bought a frog, after all these decades. This info should save me frustration.
Good info! Much Appreciated
I caught 3 3pound plus fish on a frog yesterday evening at a pond after I got off work. Thy were choking it. So much fun.🎣🎣🎣😃🐸
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Randy, I'm impressed by your determination to post videos EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Agreed, usually 2 or 3 vids a day! Randy’s an animal! 😃👍🏼💪🏼

No I like to stay with the larger Frogs most of the time because frog Fishing to me is about getting quality bites
I’m with Randy on this one...
I guess everybody is different but all my biggest frog fish came on jr models. Maybe cause of the fishing pressure.
Thanks Randy. Another very interesting video.
What water visibility are you looking for with the frog? or does visibility not really matter here? Thanks!
Won my 1st bass tournament in 2005 on a Scum Frog🎣
Got that frog next to my trophy!
A definite staple in the frog box!
Great video...i do the same just not the plier pulling..idk but i love the sebile pivot frog ive had alot of success with that one frof more then most
Randy can you give us your tips on the hook sets. There seems to be two camps on whether you wait to you feel the pull or to hit them when you see the frog disappear. Thanks for all the great info.
So if you’re water is crystal clear in 18” would you opt to throw the frog on 25 pound mono or stick with braid?
🤘🤘🤘 Thanks Randy

Frog bellies are a lighter color.
Really enjoying the channel. I'm much more a fan now. I think you got a bad rap earlier in your career.
I tend to "boil" my tougher bodied frogs.
As always, Brother...LOVE the video! Just a little tip on what I always do to my frogs before I use the pliers to soften them up, I have a pot that I use to boil water and place the frogs in. Do you use a different frog when fishing matted grass or pads (as opposed to the open water frogging you’re talking about here)?
Frogs are such versatile baits. My favorite frog is the booyah road runner jr or the poppin perch by striker king. The commotion shad by livetarget is great as well.
Lik/Sub/Comm 👍😎 Frog 🐸 fishin oh yeah 😎 Thanks for sharing 👍
Hookuptackle has a good video for frogs from the other day. Very detailed. Great video randy.
Almost 30k Randy
My best tip for walking a frog is to try to just twitch the line instead of the frog. If you jerk it to hard it doesn’t walk
Great video as always. Could you do a swimming worm video?
I am addicted to topwater.
Do some “on the water” illustrating 👍
I knew the original soft frog lure inventor's son Harry...who ran the Sangproof lure company after his father died.
Harry's father worked at Goodyear in Ohio when he developed the lure.
Snagproof even sponsored Ish Monroe approx 30 years ago.
I started fishing the scum frog and scum rat in 1980. I bought both the same day. I still have and fish them both.
What is your view on putting frogs in a pan of boiling water for a short time to soften the plastic
Sometimes I’ll add a couple BB’s to give it a unique sound
Does any body use those stinger hooks? I think they kill the action
No i would think when youre skipping under tangles of branches like what a frogs for it would snag up to easy. Unless youre in open waer but most would use a spook or plopper there. Unless u think they dont see the frog in open water and it might work on pressured bass, then i would try it
Looking forward to catch my first frog bite

I have to strongly disagree with you on color. White on sunny clear days and black on overcast lowlight days, no if and or bits about it
Great info have you ever fished a boat out the pack 😂
Lord your full of ideas aren't you I can't wait to hit the water with all this info
Welp, its not secret anymore
Well its not secret anymore
Love fishing the frog here in Louisiana.
