Main reason why people are skeptical is because most of the time they'd see the trailer as a sign that it's finished, clearly not the case here. Can't wait for call of the void to release, it's gonna be GREAT!

Thank you very much for explaining. When I first saw the original trailer I really tried to find out what it is and in which state. Some people just enjoy to make videos and it's fine. Some others have made mods with trailers but didn't released the mod. So i couldn't difference and just waited till there's a clear explanation.
Now I'm super hyped this will be a real thing. I still love the game and some mods. But this will be groundbreaking.

I think a lot of people assumed that the mod was out. Done. That may be an issue with their ability to actually listen... but I will say sometimes you have to make it stupidly clear... that it's a concept for a mod and doesn't exist yet.
Hey aci, something i have found aesthetically pleasing when i start a new subnautica game is to mark the void barrier with reefback pods via console commands, i was thinking it would be interesting to add some reefbacks around the islands, (or some new void reefback if you really want to stretch dev time)
Tldr: reefbacks add wonderful ambiance and light source guidance, plus are lore friendly

THIS IS AMAZING!!!! I was a bit late to the subnautica trend so i couldn't find any consistent youtubers to watch besides you so thanks for that!
Something else I wanted to mention is the idea of an octopus/squid like leviathan, It could be the main predator to worm leviathans but only lurk in the deepest depths of the void. It would have dots that would glow on its tentecals pretending to be schools of fish, you only see the tentacles but judging by the size of them, there is a reason why worm leviathans hide, sea dragons don't go near the void and gargantuan leviathans are extinct.
This is just an idea I had so feel free to use it, just thanks for being a good youtuber!
This is a great concept and i love it mate! You can count with my full support here on the channel and i will be here to test it as soon as it come out!! Unfurtunaly i cant suport this with money but i will do what i can! Oh by the way, that Sub is GREAT!!! I'm really hopping that you can pull that out of the concept for the game!!! First time I saw this project (because I'm awful at keeping up with recent uploads) I honestly got SO EXCITED and thought it was a new Subnautica game
you do you my man the amount of passion you have for this mod is amazing and you should take as much time as you need to get the mod working
omg I love the idea of releasing the mod in parts!!! For the amount of love I have for Return of the Ancients, one of my biggest issues is that they developed the Garg, finalised it and made it perfect, but then went off and started making all the architect stuff. Like, it's great seeing all these youtubers playing around with the Garg, but it would have been so nice if could've gotten a mod of just the Gargantuan Leviathan and that's it, like a demo of sorts, to give people a hands-on taste.
This is a neat idea Aci, I bought into the first versions of the OG Subnautica way back when the teraforming tool was put in then taken away for causing issues. It was a very unique experience submitting feedback about bugs and seeing them polished out. I think that wholesome experience added to my unique love of the game, series, and dev team at Unknown Worlds.
You go get it man, I hope you find success in this endeavor, my money is a bit tight right now but hopefully I can pitch in soon.

Cant wait for this to come out, its going to bring a whole new experience to Subnautica more than any other mod out their and maybe more then the DLC sized mod Return of the ancient, I do hope that making this mod has it own fun or frustrating challenges as nothing is to easy, and hope you are having fun making it as making something without you having fun then there wont be any motivation to continue it, but cant wait to see more about it and even play it for myself once it comes out. Love the vids you were the reason I started playing Subnautica.

Dude these mod videos have singlehandedly been the source of two nightmares already. First time I was thinking "oh well, it happens" but it has now been the 2nd time, I dreamed my base was being attacked by the crater edge leviathan and I kinda don't know what to make of it.
There's this one shot I dreamed first time around, when my cyclops and prawn ere attacked where the cyclops was kinda broken in two by the sea dragon (which the mesmer leviathan was commanding) kinda clambering on it after I got killed while a different (I think the crater edge leviathan) was dragging the prawn into the void and it was all framed from the void, with darkness surrounding the last parts of lit, fathomably deep sea floor almost like it was encroaching on it.
I think this mod just gave my brain too much to work with but not enough to understand so it just dreams up the worst things, especially since you made the mesmer leviathan fucking sapient and an alien intelligence nestled in the void is just mind-shatteringly terrifying.
Genuinely the hydra might just be the only thing making me play this mod because I like vehicles. This thing is more out my nightmares than return of the ancients with the gargantuan leviathan back, because at least that thing has the decency to be nothing but a big fat fish. 😭
I really hope this encourages you to keep going. This is a tough game to crack, it's been through the gauntlet. With the harsh criticism of the 'Below Zero' and the let down of 'Return of the Ancients' being buried it's hard to reach that view count with a layer of skepticism to punch through but always know the passion for such an amazing game and resilient fan base will cheer you on! 🤘🤘🤘
Honestly, Return of the Ancients was always a pretty weak concept, imo. This seems way more fleshed out and properly integrated into the existing space of the game. RotA was too big in scale to fit the setting, especially the Gargantuan. I know lots of people were really stoked about it, but I always thought that it was a bit overrated and awkward. It's just *too* big. Plus it ruins the mystery of just the bones found in the lost river. The Garg didn't add anything meaningful to the game, it was just BIG. Visually impressive certainly, but not strong enough to build an entire expansion on.
i loved the part where aci said "it's modding time!" and made a whole ass dlc, truly a subnautica community.
As far as my 2 cents go. I think as a consumer in general for gaming, I am already constantly annoyed at all these games (not directing towards specifically you) To be announced with no definitive eta's. I have read things that these mods are meant to just hype channels and generate revenue to you and other content creators. While i dont share that opinion as you have every right to do what you want with what you create, i think its just the jealousy emotion that some others may see of mods being "tested" on channels and that is what the community also wants to play, in that version. I personally agree with that and would actually prefer a early access of sort to things as opposed to, "released in future" with no idea of when.. I appreciate the few months notice as that really is, as a player, what i would like to know so it helps keep my interest and doesnt allow me to go off the beaten path of saying, this is all just for hype on such and such channel. Sorry for my rant but to be clear, very very very much looking forward to this mod.

I love that you go that way that you occasionally drop some content of the mod. I respect the decision of the Return of the ancients team that they don't, but it is so painful that I can't go on a swim with the Garg haha

i doubt i will be able to join the patreon but i still like this idea so ill post it here but i would like to see kind of like a crystal leviathan with different types of it for all the different types of crystals explained in the submarine deep dive and each crystal leviathan can have a different ability for each different crystal it has so like if one has like a power crystal it can be faster or have stronger attacks or release a shockwave like a crabsquid or something like that or just a regular creature that is still a threat but not a whole other leviathan like that i think that might add a bit more depth into the mod in terms of the creatures
Been getting more into Subnautica recently and been concidering getting the game, its awesome to see amazing stuff by the community making stuff like this. Really looking forward to seen how this project goes, Im also kinda curious what Alex Ries and the rest of the Subnautica team might think of Call of the Void, cause Im be real I think anyone would find it impresive that community members are trying to make a mod of THIS level.

I have been looking out for more videos since your Reveal Trailer, hoping to see concrete development. Well, the concept certainly has developed, and the videos have been more and more revealing on where this project is supposed to be heading towards.
That said, the void is full of opportunities for scammers and leechers. So please excuse me for waiting a little longer to actually see something tangible before seriously commiting. I would immediately support a first demo mod - even if it's not fully integrated into the existing world yet.
I realize that this is not the best situation for a modding team starting their work in earnest - but "once bitten..."
I so hope this is going forward according to the vision you are giving us. Looking forward to taste the first pieces of it!

I just got a new PC, and I’ve always wanted to mod games, especially Subnautica. I tried using a few mods, De-extinction, migrate, random size mod and others and none of them worked for my Subnautica. I can’t wait for this mod and I hope it’ll be easy to implement.
cannot freakin' wait. i never need any incentive or reason to go back to re-playing Subnautica so getting to play around with a mod that adds story and gameplay is an easy without-a-doubt return to Subnautica world in my book.
i wonder if this will actually come before Return of the Ancients mod because that one is taking too freakin' long and i'm just about done waiting on it to come out. my anticipations lie in Call of the Void mod now. again, cannot freakin' wait.
