I have 1 and really like it. That small 180 motor works decent enough for the truck. Wish it had a 320 size but it still works well. I did find that scx24 hexs are a direct fit on this truck which is great if you want different wheels.
While I like the super capable trucks like the trx4 and Capra I have a lot of fun driving a scale accurate truck, I've had the best time driving my TF2 4runner around knowing that it was going to get stuck and I'd have to use a winch to get it out
I'd say the underpowered motor is pretty scale too. These 1.5 na 100 something hp cars do suffer from that off road in real life... so I'd say yes probably could do with more power for an rc, but I'm still impressed with what I've seen so far.
And how much HP should the real one have? 180, 200, or more? The real one is VERY capable off-road and didn’t heard, the engine suffers. If there will be an electric version of the real one, that will be my rig…
I think it's perfect for what it is. My question is Can you take the body apart and repaint it ? I also wish there were more aggressive tire options for it. This might be a must have for my collection.
I'm more into the performance side of RC but enjoy scale modeling too. This gives you another option for what ever your feeling. I like it. Good video. Thanks
The detail in this is so impressive! I want one :) 1:1 Jimny's are VERY popular here in Oz. Apparently there is quite a long waiting list at the dealerships.
Awesome video. I’ve said it for a couple years, these little things (the 1:1) would sell like crazy in the USA. Curious to see if the furitek motor would shoehorn in this
These look like they will be a blast. I hope there is a good aftermarket for them. It would look killer with some new bumpers and a little bigger mud tire.
Mother of God O_O This is the GOLD STANDARD now for realism in trail trucks, my favorite subset up the hobby.. I wish I could get more trucks with this level of detail. Are there any mods available yet for it? It'd be nice to lift it SLIGHTLY (equivalent to a 1" or so full scale lift) or add a roof rack for some scale jerry cans and a recover gear... I *love* how low it's geared... No touchy throttle and nice slow application of power makes for ideal crawling along trail obstacles.
That is some amazing detail out of the box. The problem I would have with the motor upgrade is my tendency to use all that power would likely crack all that great detail.
I can see an awesome, albeit short, Monthly Mayhem! You'd never blow the budget and your guaranteed a win as Josh hates working on tiny trucks😁. Great vid as always Matt. Thank you!
What I dont understand about the turn signals is that they are a manually articulated indicator in an actual vehicle. So why can they use the 3 way toggle switch to articulate that? Obviously left will turn on your left idicator, then switch to middle and they are both off, and then switch to right and right indicator turns on. That way, everybody is happy, if you want them, great, if ya dont, ignore channel 3. You would merely need blinking led's, 2 radio switches, and the channel 3 of the receiver... I plan on doing this to my scale rigs, but led's are a last step. I work on the vehicles from ground up. Wheels and tires, axles, suspension, chassis, electronics and fitment, body work, prime, paint, finish, but, to each their own. Great video, excellent review, love that it's Stan MF Lee drivin!! Keep up the great work! I subbed!
Yes, FMS makes some great airplanes , and readily available in the states😎 I had a few Suzuki Samurai back in the day. I’m sure Jeep/GM/Ford made sure suzuki could never import Jimney/samurai jeeps ever again, only re-branded econo-boxes.
Should it be a Weiner not winner, the direction indicators all flashing is the Hazard warning light system in the UK 1-1 handbook, Yes we get them here and is my next vehicle in the new year, and yes the direction indicators need to be switchable, could do with fitting shocks with oil instead of friction type.
How about 1 inch wheels and tires on 1/24 scale? Could the hex from it work? Then how about trying RC4WD steel wheels bolted to the rotor with a little mod to it? For that’s a great detailed Jimny there and I’m glad you reviewed it.
The Suzuki Sidekick was the closest you could get here in the US. Fun little car. I had a Dodge Raider which was similar. Loved that guy😥. 4x4 was awesome on it.
Did you do any upgrades to the drivetrain on the Jimny over time? It really looks super cool and something I would not mind having on my shelf and play with from time to time. There are not many detailed / realistic and well made vehicles in smaller scales ...
Wow that looks cool can't wait to see you mod it. Wonder if wpl will have a run for their money with fms doing a rig like this, hope they make something else that's cool looking. Thanks for the vid 👍
OK, so its no TRX4 or similar, but it is FABULOUS! And it proves what other manufacturers could do in the detailing stakes, without charging silly prices - even at 1/10th scale. Great video, but hats off to FMS.
Dont ask josh if scale means more, but im very impressed with everything they included scale wise here, makes a few brands look bad for cost to what you get
I was watching this on my lunch break and I laughed pretty hard when I heard the name of the company that produces it. FMS in my field is fecal management system. Anyway liked and subscribed
🤪🤪🤪 the longer I watch this scale stuff the more I'm wanting to do it.... I still am waiting for that link to place pre-orders for your 1/24th Land Rover body. I'm so into that.... Now to turn Josh onto more scale other than foam interiors, brake discs, and bed rolls.
I personnaly value scale realism just as much as preformance, but for me, the sweet spot is the RC4WD Defender. This seems more like a model that can drive than an rc car that looks realistic.
Solid assessment. Good reminder; just because it isn’t a hardcore crawler doesn’t mean it isn’t amazing. Well said. Have you been able to find any tire options since your review a year ago? I’m curious about access to the mechanicals.
I'm predicting in the future you going to do a build mod on this. Not necessarily budget either changing out the motor the axles Wheels tires and painting it for starters.
Jimny is a cool truck I Definitely like looking and admiring the scale part of the hobby some Awesome builds I have some trucks for scale and some for performance Thanks for the video
Yes Mat we can buy the Jimny, but you guys in the U.S and Canada can easy get aloooot of other items, we cant, and other custon rules for items from China. We gust got other custom rules again. Greetings, Mickey from, Mickeys Rc Crawls - Denmark
I'm totally into looks, too much so probably. I dare say all my rigs look pretty damn good but might not perform up to the standards most guys have but I'm more then happy to sacrifice performance for looks. Can't help but smile every time I pass my shelf. But I also love seeing those super performing rigs some of the guys build. Very impressive stuff but just not for me. Each his own!
I don't see why you couldn't put an aftermarket set of wheels on it it has a pin going though the axel just like a full size 10th scale crawler just put a hex on it and rc4wd has a set of beadlocks with just the pin on it because I have a set... you might need the extension bolt like you would use for the scx24 on some beadlocks
They missed the boat with one color. I have to buy them in pairs because my wife is now interested in RC. Expensive, yes, but I get to buy new ones all the time..... if I can afford two.
Don't hate me but where I live there is a Suzuki dealership with this exact model on the forecourt and just too add insult too injury its directly opposite the Kahn dealership who's lot is currently full of wide bodied and kitted out Jeeps and Defenders! 😁👌
I think this little rig would be a little short on performance (and size) for my liking. RTR 1/10 scale is more my thing. I don't need a super low CG rig that can crawl near vertical slopes, but I don't need a plastic exhaust system either.
@Scale Builder's Guild I'm in the UK so not bad going getting the stickers here that quickly. Ordered the Jimny about a week ago. Such a great little truck.
Hey Matt ! I need your help bro.......we need a better quality 180 sized motor for this truck, I have my Jimny fully apart and it's even more impressive. I removed the sorry motor ,I'm trying to find something else ...and then there's there's the Lee press on pinion gear (lol)....we really need a brushless motor, the Trx4m uses the same sized motor so if there is a brushless system for the Trx4m we may have some hope. Also this goes for all the 1/12 Fms trucks ....I have the all but 1. Thanks for your input bro.
Hi there! I just purchased mine! And I have a question for you! Mine seems to work fine but the lights won’t turn on when I press on the 4 channel! It only works when I break and see the brake lights or turn the vehicle on, then that’s it! But no head lights or turn signals. Any idea what it could be?
Looks pretty cool. It'll be really expensive here in New Zealand though. I thought about getting into this hobby, watching videos on the different crawlers. I think they were approx $400 in America - BUT over $1000 in New Zealand. It is one of those niche hobbies where you just get ripped off big time. Hell, if we're being honest this hobby is a ripoff in the states too! Lol. @@Lord_Pistachio_Nut Thanks for your reply - I Posted this comment ages ago, but did look into prices - It was even more of a Rip-off than I thought. I think the U.S. $400 trucks, were about $2000 here (or something, can't quite remember). $800nz would still be more than the difference in currencies - so the mark up on import prices, looks to be around 2-3x (200-300%-ish). Anyway, I already have too many expensive hobbies to take up another one. FPV - planes look cool... LOL...
@Campbell Rousselle lol I just got into drones a year ago and have been eyeing up a headset and such to do some fpv flying lol. Right there with ya! I take home roughly 780 a week after taxes and I penny pinch pretty hard, so much so that THIS rc truck, on sale, is $119 right now and that's a STEAL! But I'm currently too broke to afford it 🤣🤣🤦♂️
@@Lord_Pistachio_Nut Sorry I didn't get back to you. Yep as an Island Nation, pretty much everything here is a bit of a rip-off. As an economy, we are a low-wage economy.
