I agree that the Hamilton Khaki is a legendary watch with its military heritage, but the Seiko SNK has earned its legendary status in a different way. I think It become a cult classic for its unbeatable value and design and a gateway into the world of watch collecting.
The movement found in the Hamilt is undeniably better than the movement found in the Seiko. Generally speaking its far superior but for some, me included, manual winding is a bit of a hassle.
Hamilton is the way better watch. And at those prices it is also the beter value for money. It is a 450$ watch that is built like a 500$ watch. That Seiko is great, but at the price it was 5-10 years ago. Which was 70-100$. It is built like a 100-150$ watch. If you care at all about build quality and you can afford Hamilton, thats the one to go for. Seiko is a great buy at 100-130$, not more than that...
Between these two, I'd definitely take the Hamilton! But if the Seiko was a Alpinist it would be a harder choice. That Hamilton looks like the Bronze case version not stainless steel.
@@timepieceofart I have none, but I wanted one about 8 years ago, but I went with a SARW019 (I love it) instead, about 1 step up in quality, to this day I kinda still want a Alpinist. 😉 I did also get a Khaki Auto Titanium black pvd a year later, love that one too!
Your outfit and color choice really goes in favor of the Hamilton, however... find a black SNK with a proper leather strap... not nato, and we are having more difficult time to justify double the price.
I agree that the brown outfit may look that it favors the Hamilton, but ilthat wasn't my intention 😀 I still haven't try the SNK on a leather strap, how is your experience with that strap combination?
@@timepieceofart Are you serious? Google some images or insta, but black dial, cause of the white hands... it goes super pilot on leather. I skipped that watch. It has case inner lugs polished so I went microbrand... Sky Hunter... black of course... but for some one's first watch... until they figure out what they like...seiko.
Underrated video. Thanks for the information!
A few times you referred to the SNK as legendary. The legendary watch in this video is the Hamilton.

Yes, Hamilton H-10 & H-50 movements are very very accurate & reliable...

Snk is actually under $100

I have both (albeit my hamilton is quartz) and the hamilton fits me better as it’s a bit bigger at 38 (vs 36) but the snk is comfortable AF
I'm also surprised every time i put the SNK, i does look kinda small but the wearing experience is like no other watch.

I love the alpinist, unfortunately i haven't had the opportunity to review it yet. What's your experience with it?
