    I'm in love with this game, and yeah I'm one of THOSE people who really enjoyed the gardening mechanic and connecting the living network. It felt like I was changing the world for the better and getting those seemingly impossible connections was a huge dopamine rush. Plus most of the plants are just a pleasure to look at. However, for someone going for 100% or a content creator pushing themselves to get it done in a timely manner, I completely understand the frustration. Connecting the network is definitely meant to be a patient, contemplative experience.

    Going to leave a comment here if anyone else is having trouble connecting the shamams.
    Abuse the splice system and blood plant. Splice of a blood spurting flower and carry it with you. You can splice it on to any plant and create a connection node at your feet/close by. Once it’s connected simple splice of the blood flower again and you will see the connection/bugs still remain even with no node. You can repeat this process and it’s helpful to carry the two grass plant seeds on you to form areas to splice your blood fruit on.
    Hope this helps someone

    • @phantomleaves
      @phantomleaves 3 месяца назад

      This is good, also you can carry a staccati(the brambles) flower and a particular part of the Wilding Tree(the violet pine tree one) with you to connect the network as well.

      Game launched officially on the 13th, but I got a key in the email on Monday morning, so I scrapped my 'plans' for Monday and started playing then. It's my half term holiday, so the only things I was really going to do this week was work on the BLAST BRIGADE map and finish editing, rendering, and uploading the rest of my Prince of Persia: TLC videos. (Which I haven't. xD)

    I got the first ending and quit playing. I normally 100% most metroidvanias or at least get the "true ending" but connecting the living network is an absolute nightmare. It's just so unclear how you get the network to certain areas, which paths you need to take and which plants you need. I feel like after getting the first ending they needed to give you some kind of quality of life upgrade. Maybe something that let you stretch the network farther or spawn any type of seed.

    • @demajen
      @demajen  4 месяца назад

      Yeah, the cortex ability that lets you stretch it a little bit further is a must for even some of the early connections, but a more advanced one wouldn’t go amiss! Especially as there are several memory locker Mycelium more than you need.
      I’m thinking about how I could help people do what I did with minimum fuss. Just for the 7 shamans. It’d take a lot of time to figure out something that everyone can do with minimal effort though.

      Ive been trying to connect to the gardners garden for the past 4 hours with zero progress. Mushishi to extend, tons of compost, splicing stuff on... buds will not grow. I cannot get close enough no matter what.
      It seems like there a bunch of rng with when and where buds will spawn, which just makes this feel awful

    • @demajen
      @demajen  4 месяца назад

      I only got to Gardners by going up through Pantheon of Stars, through the middle, and down. However, I suspect it *might* be possible to use the brambles from the closest save room in Living Quarters and grow it up towards the Garden, since that seems to work pretty well in a lot of places as long as you are fairly careful with where you actually let the brambles themselves grow: they act as nodes to the network, but obvs they hurt you if you hit them. Fortunately you can splice them to where you want to be, so you may be able to Network them across the ceiling.
      It is also possible that you can grab certain enemies that work the ground and they'll create fresh soil for you in places that you put them. I *think* that has happened for me, but in all honesty I'm utterly unsure.

    • @carlotta4th
      @carlotta4th 4 месяца назад +2

      You need to feed monsters so they'll make a dig spot next reboot--it is NOT POSSIBLE without feeding many monsters (it really wish the game had made it more clear that was a thing early on).
      Other than that in general: any angled slope use a blood plant. Any corridor with lots of twists use a moss one. If you want quick flowers in one spot put down a mushroom or blood plant. If it's a vertical slope use the golden grass (though frankly I only do that if I need to climb said slope). I almost never used the blue trees or the purple spiky plants.

    • @demajen
      @demajen  4 месяца назад +2

      @@carlotta4th 100% The lack of clarity on that feeding monsters thing is ridiculous. 28 hours I played before I noticed soil where there wasn't soil before. Absolutely dumb that this wasn't made clear much earlier.

  • @carlotta4th
    @carlotta4th 4 месяца назад

    10:01 if you plant mushi grass on the bottom of that tower and also the top (technically I used a tendril plant at top, but I think they made flowers near the same middle platform) you can get up easy. Just by grabbing the life force and fly up to the next flower.
    But I cannot, CANNOT connect that last pod in the same area (very far left one, last pod before you exit the trials area). I can't figure it out, I grew a giant purple spiky plant from beneath and can get up just fine but there's no flowers--I planted something in the middle of the collapsable bug shaft trying to attach it from above but there's no roots so it won't grow anything... no clue what to do there.

    • @demajen

      Yeah, all the ones you can physically grab are on there. There’s a “free” fourth one you get for each location after you’ve got the other three. (This isn’t explained anywhere and caused me some confusion while finishing that stuff on the map.)

    5:10 Some how i missed/skipped that chase to infinite lake . i just remembered that there was some plant that i could cut and went there, and already had double jump on that loop
    19:05 you can connect from the living quarters directly to the garden (upper path) by using monster to create planting spots. there is a monster on cealing that you can feed to create a spot on the ground.
    the first thing that almost make me quit was not knowing how to get up on the plataform on the main chamber. you need the thruster and it NEED to be selected on the bot ( you can NOT use it if you selected other power), and you can fly using purple water , but of course the game only showed yellow mushrooms and maybe orange water before that.

    • @demajen
      @demajen  4 месяца назад

      That's really interesting! So arguably the whole chase thing is a softlock prevention mechanic to guide you to the right place but still make sure you follow the dev's plans. Pity it removes the Extractor, though, as doing that section without the double jump was irritating AF. But also kudos to them for designing the whole section to be doable without it.
      The monster feeding thing is INCREDIBLY INFURIATING looking back, because I just didn't know about it. I had no tutorial or anything short of "feed monsters good". Even a single line of dialogue that "happy monsters can create new plots" for you would have literally cut my playtime by probably 5+ hours.

    • @carlotta4th
      @carlotta4th 4 месяца назад

      Yeah, I embarrassingly got stuck there too. But I maintain the water should have been orange at the bottom with the gold mushrooms also there to make it more clear to players that you can ascend.

    • @STRANNK
      @STRANNK 4 месяца назад

      @@demajen Speaking of which, there is a dialog branch in the game where the Gardener talks about it. When you feed the monster that he fed and when you first get the Extractor from the Gardener there is a mini-quest for a couple of cycles - in the first you need to make new tunnels for the monster larvae under the flower where you take the sword and in the second cycle you need to feed these monsters. But the mechanics of creating new places to plant seeds is very annoying.

    • @demajen
      @demajen  4 месяца назад +1

    How did you get in that ceiling in Infinty Lake and how did you get to that ledge on the left where the ball rolls down past the monsters?

    • @demajen
      @demajen  4 месяца назад

      The ceiling near the top with the skull thing guarding it? With a lot of ducking patience. Hate those enemies. In theory, you can use the splicer upgrade on them to move them about and dump them out of the way somewhere you never plan on going again, but I didn't find that until 28+ hours into the game.
      As for the ledge, I very tediously spliced Ubarbu (the one that grows in forks) up towards it and stuck an Ogu Munin platform on it. Make sure you have the cortex ability that lowers your aggro range as those skull enemies suck balls.

  • @carlotta4th
    @carlotta4th 4 месяца назад

    9:26 Whoah you got to the top of the green area? I just grew blue trees on the left side and sliced a mushroom to the top top to make to the left area with the cranium thing. But I still can't get up top to that dang eyeball statue because I can't figure out how to go to the right area (the same mushroom tactic gets me horizontal distance but not the vertical jump). Any hints for me?

    • @demajen
      @demajen  4 месяца назад

      Your tactic was almost certainly faster than mine to get to the Mycelium. Mine took 45+ minutes and a lot of trial and error. You don't really need to go to the statue if you've already got the brain, as all it does is open up a Thruster Juice pit that lets you fly over there more easily. If it is map coverage you're after, though, the note on the map in the video was how I did it. The springy tip of a Wildling was what gave me the boost up I needed (though bouncing collision sometimes doesn't work and you just drop straight through it when you're trying to get height. I imagine it's a speed vs collision checking issue).

      Thanks! I finally ended up just splicing a million tendrils on to get there. It sucked.

But you can’t get out of your spawning zones without a blade because of all the cracked walls you need to break down. Appreciate it in advance!

    That spot in the Gardeners zone, you really dont have to take the left path. You can literally use a Stuccato Seed, and just straight vine up... and put some Ugo Mugin platforms on the Vines. And use Stuccato Brambles as needed to get the network up there. Its much easier. Honestly Stuccato, you can place a leaf on ANY root system, and you will get leaves and brambles. Making it very easy to strip it of brambles. de-root the plant, and place it back down, move a leaf, and ta-da a whole new set of brambles. Stuccato is the MVP of the endgame.

If you can take screenshots, I could have a look for you as I know from personal experience if you stare at the Ultros map for too long you just CANNOT see what you're missing.

    23:22 - Fortunately, a 100% completion guide surfaced (though it's more of a walkthrough video than a guide, but still better than nothing). I spent around 10 hours trying to navigate the Living Network to reach those darn statues on the map edges, but I gave up. After watching someone else do it, I can say this: it's NOT a puzzle. There's no 'elegant solution' here; it all boils down to tedious and incredibly frustrating time-wasting.
    In the video, the guy just kept spawning endlessly growing leaves from the cactus (or whatever it's called in the game), and seriously, what's interesting about that? Spending half an hour on mindless routine just to unlock another piece of the map?!
    I don't understand why they introduced such an irritating mechanic. The first half of the game was great. The second could have been better; for instance, if food worked as compost immediately instead of waiting for the next cycle. Similarly, creating additional planting spaces could have been easier. Why force players to lose all their collected seeds just to stretch out the time? Why complicate the soil 'health' system like that? And why add such randomness, where one seed might sometimes grow a flower on the tree for connection to the Living Network, and sometimes not? There are so many highly questionable game design decisions.
    I don't plan on going back to the game; it's a complete waste of time, which is a shame. I recommend everyone to just go for the bad ending and watch the good one online; it's absolutely not worth the time investment.

    I dont blame you for charging for the map (the time and frustration levels required to make it warrant some value)- i have scoured around and couldnt find a guide that comes close. I wont buy it however as I dont have the herculean amounts of patience required to actually connect the whole network. I mean just from my attempts without a map guide I found the growing/ splicing to get solutions to map puzzles boring beyond words. I like the puzzles, just too fiddly to solve and as you rightly put it not satisfying (like puzzles in the game portal are rewarding with the right level of challenge). I will say I enjoyed this game until the first ending and would describe it more as a puzzlevania than metroid.
