They need to make petite strap bags in the same way they make short leg trousers. I too am afflicted by overlong straps. Good luck getting her altered!

I'm not a designer purse person. Seems the easiest, least damage and less expensive option would be to completely remove the entire strap. Have another one made that resembles this one, the length you desire. If you ever sell the bag, reattach the original strap that would be in perfect condition.
I have one HIDUPZ bag I got in 2019, it's the LV white catogram speedy. It's counter quality and it has a nice honey patina now, so the leather is real. I think whatever makes you happy go for it. I've seen LV with plastic leather and blood red glaze...
What if you cut the leather part in half and make that part adjustable like a belt... In that way you won't change the way the bag looks (with the chain etc) and you won't have to find the exact same finding to match with the other side... BUT that way you are creating a new design for the bag as whole... 🤔
OR you can just replace the strap with a new one and in case you want to sell the bag in the future you will have the original strap to reattach it.
Very cute bag, impressed they are real glass diamanté. However I cannot handle chain straps, even when it’s only half. Not sure if it’s a tactical issue or the fact they fly around ludicrously when you walk or try to take it off. Either way chain straps (especially as, as you say, they’re always too long) read to me as cheap and tacky, even when they are technically not.

Also lol they don’t make the straps for us tall girls either - I’m 177cm with a disproportionately long torso and at full extension every bag strap I own is too damn short! Haha

Can you tie a temporary knot in the strap I've done that before its not the most comfortable but it'll be shorter

You could buy some ribbons or even a single ring in the same color (and you said you have the tools) and tie the first and the last round ring on each side. In this way, you can shorten the length and also keep the chain, that will look as a nice lateral pendant, on each side. And also, it’s all temporary! I hope I’m making clear what I’m imagining 😅 it’s what we call an “accrocco” in Italian slang, but I’m sure your creativity can work it out

You don't need to get the strap altered probably - the bottom of the strap is chains, you could probably buy a really cheap strap adjuster and clip the chain part of the strap inside the bag?
