- This is my Amphibia 2X18 Reaction for "Bessie & MicroAngelo/The Third Temple" I hope you enjoy it!
SYNOPSIS
Amphibia chronicles the adventures of 13-year-old Anne Boonchuy, who is magically transported to the fantastical world of Amphibia, a rural marshland full of frog-people. There, she meets an excitable young frog named Sprig Plantar, his unpredictable sister Polly and overprotective grandpa Hop Pop.

For the first segment, I love the bond between Bessie and Micro-Angelo, as well as Anne's self-acceptance speech.
For the second segment, I love how each of the temples tests an obvious skill, and a secret, just as important one.
First temple: Intelligence but also humility
Second temple: Heart/empathy but also responsibility
Third temple: Strength but also determination
Oops, I meant "persistence," not "determination." My bad.

I’m honestly loving Grime more and more as the series goes on. His true personalities really are starting to shine with lines like these.

He's probably my favorite character.
Who said you had bad taste?? When looking at the high holy trinity of Gravity Falls, Amphibia, and Owl House, I like them all for very different reasons but it's definitely Amphibia that makes me laugh the most. I like the silly comedy, the close ups, and I really appreciate Brenda Song's voice work. I can just see her in the studio yelling aw come on.
I've had some random comments. It doesn't really bother me, but I just never understood why some people just can't understand that media is incredibly subjective and different things will resonate more person to person. I chuckled about it in the reaction because it's such a pointless comment to make. It doesn't accomplish anything. You can say I have bad taste, but telling me that changes absolutely nothing haha
It's nice to find people who like Amphibia slightly better as it's the more popular opinion to like TOH a bit more haha
The girls are back together. This isn't awkward at all. 😆
“Bessie and MicroAngelo” is a pretty obvious homage to one of the more obscure Looney Tunes, Marc Anthony and Pussyfoot.
its kinda crazy seeing these episodes and thinking where Amphibia started. Shows like this are some of my favorites, where they start at point A and through good build up, character growth, deeper plots and all that end up in such a different place when all is said and done. It feels like a lot of stuff actually happened over the course of the story not just the characters doing goofy stuff for a season.
Personally I think you have excellent taste. It takes a refined palate to appreciate Chuck and his beautiful tulips.

I love Third Temple .Sasha is such a badass in this one.Also I feel like many people dont appreciate Bessie and Microangelo enough cause of its unfortunate placement
Sasha is a surprisingly complex character, just wait and see how this season pans out.
I finally caught up with the amphibia reactions! Now, I can finally watch the finale with all of you. In 2 episodes.
There are few things more pointless in this world than arguing if Amphibia or the Owl House is better. They're essentially the same show told in two different ways. I don't see anything but personal preference being the deciding factor to which of them is more enjoyable.
That’s why I chuckled at the comment. It doesn’t matter. Some people get so up in arms about what’s better, and will insult others over it. Who cares what others enjoy more

Honestly I just agree, it's not a competition y'all.
Neither is objectively better but both shows have clear strengths and weaknesses. The problem is most people can't discuss these strengths and weaknesses while remaining civil about it.
I think it's incorrect to even say they're "the same show told two different ways". The similarities are very, very shallow. Neither show is "about" being transported to a fantasy world and engaging in the found family trope. You can put that skin on any show. Amphibia is *about* recognizing and dealing with toxic friendships. Owl House is *about* cultural erasure and colonization. These are different shows.
Have you noticed sasha said "I'll like that" twice?
once after anne asked her to be friends with her when they were kids and the second one at the end when she wants them to start over

Matt Braly the creator of Amphibia has said all three girls have toxic traits. Sasha’s is just more outward.
Gotta remember, all three of them stole from a store! Sasha just has a more obvious toxic trait. Even Anne was kind of a jerk in the few episodes.
Marcy is said to have a toxic trait in an AMA. We just haven’t seen what it is yet?

The next episode is one of my favorite episodes
Episode 2x18 starts with... another standalone story, this time about a very unexpected character - Polly's little snail with strangely suicidal behaviour. And it's good to see Anne (finally!) got some upgrade of her looks. Still no new shoe, sadly.
The second part is better described in Marcy's words - "Sasha-Sasha-Sasha-Sasha!!!". The blonde patron saint of badassery is here and ready to protect her friends once again! Previously we saw her mostly from her, ehm, not so good sides and yet it was clear she was more than just a bully for Anne and Marcy. Now we know what she means for her friends and that she still is what she was to them in their first meeting - their willing protector and source of inspiration. If only she was honest to them...

I feel like Anne is a paladin, Sasha's our barbarian and Marcy's a ranger but Anne is a badass warrior with magical powers, the world in her heart, the safety of others at the front of her mind and a magic sword
Look at her when they were kids. Sasha is a *fallen* paladin. Marmar is our Ranger, and we have a BarbariAnne.

You have great taste. Both Amphibia and The Owl House are great. But as I have stated earlier, I also find Amphibia to be a level above. Loving your reactions as always.

6:09 this armor is actually a reference to the Barbarian armor in Zelda Botw
11:00 the temples reminding you of Zelda is no coincidence either. The 3 gems, and the temples related to them, represent Strength, Heart and Wisdom, much like how in Zelda, the 3 triforces represent Power, Courage and Wisdom. I think they took a lot of inspiration from the series when writing this show
Also they make a lot of references of the games, like Marcy's "favorite game" that she shows to the planters when she meets them, it also reminded me a lot of that saga. The thing with the orange eyes also reminds me of the calamity in botw. IT'S A LOT OF REFERENCES xD
Someone finally noticed
I don't think I could put either Amphibia or The Owl House over the other. They're both amazing and they're very different shows. I just know I love them both.
I will say though, before I started, I was more excited about The Owl House. I didn't like the whole swampy aesthetic of Amphibia and I wasn't too keen on the giant insects. So it took me longer to get into Amphibia, but once I did, it became one of my favourite cartoons of all time.
I feel so bad I couldn’t watch the last two Amphibia reactions live. The holidays have been so busy, but I am glad I can always watch them regardless if I miss the live. Anyways it’s totally fine if you like Amphibia more that’s your preference lol 🤣 Owl House will always be my favorite it holds a special place in my heart. But I do admit all 3 shows Gravity Falls, Amphibia and Owl House are amazing!!! And will always be some of my top favorites! Amphibia has always been that show that surprised me to I didn’t expect it to connect with me as much as it did or get me as emotional. I never cry for shoes or movies and this show has proved me wrong 🤣. Anyways I love the Third temple episode! Seeing Sasha’s character development was one of my favorite things on the show. Even at this point she has so much going on that the audience isn’t sure how to read her but we know she means well. I never see her as evil on the show. Just a little on her own page lol 😂 but this whole episode did crack me up. Especially with Polly and the hammer “ yeah… this ain’t happing.” And Sasha and the “ Hey Girlfriends” I brushed out laughing bc I wasn’t expecting that one! I can’t wait to see the rest of the reactions! I know your already filmed the finale of season two! That’s going to be amazing to see that reaction! Can’t wait! And happy holidays everyone!

Hey Mikey, have you ever watched Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts on Netflix? I ask because you talk about the music in shows a lot, and Kipo, even though it's not really a musical, has very strong musical themes in almost every episode. Also, I saw someone else suggested Centaurworld, and that one is a musical, and it's fantastic.
I also love Amphibia way more than Owl House :) I think Anne is one of the best protagonists I've seen in recent years. I also really love the world and lore of Amphibia, with all of its mystery, use of technology and magic, crazy creatures, and lush green backgrounds. I also love the characters more in this show, and the focus on the rural small farm town.

It's all in personal taste, both shows have really good stories, I just like Amphibia better because it focuses more on adventure while GF focuses more on mystery and I live for adventure stories 🥴

I also like amphibia better the humor and characters the story just all pulled me in better but toh is also absolutely amazing love them both but amphibia has my heart

You know what show you should check out that I think you'll enjoy, Centaurworld. It's not even that long, only 18 episodes. Very funny, and it has the found family trope.
The temple episodes are definitely one of the many highlights of Season 2!!
It's quite fitting that personally, *The First Temple* is my #1 favorite, my second-favorite being *The Second Temple* & *The Third Temple* being my least favorite of the three
Another way in which that's really fitting for me personally is how I feel with the corresponding characters to those episodes - amongst the three girls (all the characters of the series for that matter), imo... Marcy's the best and . . . Sasha has to be the worst

I just don't know why it's necessary to compare them. They're not trying to accomplish even remotely the same thing. Amphibia is about toxic friendships and Owl House is about generational trauma. Amphibia's overarching mystery is cosmic in nature, while Owl House's mystery is sociopolitical. Pitting them against each other because of surface level similarities feels petty and pointless.
