@@MrLemmy2000 He definitely did not. He was a bit lower in the mix (I think he probably just didn't touch the pedal board) but that is very clearly him playing.
When Foo Fighters played in Iceland they explored the island before the show and in a tiny fishing village they visited they heard a garageband playing. They walked towards the sound, knocked and just started jamming with these kids. I was at the stadium concert when they played and guess their warmup band cancelled or something and instead they brought That little garage band they jammed with, called Nilfisk. They tore the roof of that place. It was amazing to see.
Man, that's such a Foo Fighters thing to do. These guys just have such a simplicity it's impossible not to like them. They might be some of the most wholesome artists on the planet.
Kiss Guy was running that band in that moment. Dude knows how to be a front man. “I kind of suck.” **proceeds to peel the faces off the crowd** Amazing.
EVERY teenage boy has this exact fantasy, not only going up on-stage with their idols, but then also KILLING IT on said stage; jamming out with their favorite band... I can't even imagine the number of teenage boys (and girls) along with countless grown middle-aged men (and women too) who were also living this moment thru kiss-guy.
Oh man his solos were just soulful and awesome! He wasn’t like “here’s the fastest shredding I can do” he was like “here’s some sick fucking guitar playing, I’ve been Yayo, thank you, goodnight Austin.”
“If you had One shot Or one opportunity To seize everything you ever wanted In one moment Would you capture it Or just let it slip?” Kiss guy: “hold my beer”
So, let me see if I got this straight: he’s got KISS make-up on, wearing a Motorhead t-shirt, at a Foo Fighters concert. Not only that, he’s playing David Grohl’s guitar while he’s jamming and rocking with the rest of the Foo Fighters. And to top all that, he rocked and kicked ass so hard, he made David Grohl forget the lyrics of his own damn song. Did I get all that right? What the actual fuck, goddamn it?! If that in itself isn’t Rock & Roll, I don’t know what the Hell is… And you can’t just Instagram-filter that, children. Now get off my lawn.
Amen. This is why people fucking love rock and roll and not all that overproduced bullshit you get from auto-tunes and teams of producers using supercomputers to break down a viral hit. Naw. Give me the real, raw shit. Give me talented, dedicated people pushing themselves to the limit of what they can do. Give me the 'only in real life' situations like this that nobody would believe if it was in a story. Give me the real connection between artist and audience. Throw in some chaos, and a chance to go safely out of your damn mind for a few hours, and that is rock 'n' roll.
Do you know what’s ironic? I’m not even a boomer. But hey, if that’s what it takes to appreciate good music - sure, hell yeah, add me another 30 years to my birthdate. And “Boom!”, baby! I’m ready to rock! (Pun very much intended.) Have an awesome day, my friend! Enjoy the interwebs!
@@jvincemusic Yeah, I've not seen many people pick up on this, but I'm pretty sure Dave cracked up because Kiss guy pointed back at him like "ok, your turn again"
This is not staged. Any really good musician will know where to go with the flow. There are hundreds of local players across this country who aren’t famous who can kick your ass on Saturday night and they don’t need a click. Music is an international language of the soul. This has to be one of my favorite jams ever to watch.
This is so true. I learned this lesson wrestling in college. There's a million motherfuckers you've never heard of who can mop the floor with you. Part of life, brother!
If they would have tried to stage one, it would be never such an amazing performance, and you can't be fooled, you feel it. Those who claim it was staged are projecting something they think they could do and get away with.

Kiss Guy, Yayo, is really sweet. I've had interactions with him on social media. For my 50th birthday he sent me the "rejected" artwork from one of his upcoming albums. I hope he makes it as big as Dave. He is amazing and so humble. 🎸 🤘🏻
I love how Dave proceed's to tell kiss guy "don't get to excited yet, you might shit the bet in front of your home town" then proceed's to shit the bed on his own song by forgetting the lyrics after being completely stunned by Kiss Guy's ability to play guitar xD
hahaha...thats the funny part. This kid was no practical touring experience from what I know..... walked up from an audience and did a more impressive rendition of a song than the guys on stage who played this song literally 1000 times over a 20 year period. Chris Shiflett is probably sitting there this fucking kid has 100 times the stage presence of me.
@@83442handle He doesn't, he plays for a local band here in Austin though and is REALLY good at guitar. I've heard him play a lot of Foo Fighter songs at venues around Austin for like battle of the bands night and stuff. He's played Monkeywrench, Learn to Fly, Pretender, All My Life, and Everlong. As well as songs by Master of Puppets by Metallica, Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden, Bat Country and Scream by A7X, and Before I Forget and Psychosocial by Slipknot
I can’t believe he knew EXACTLY what to do. He knew when to signal the entire band when he needed, went around making sure he was on the same page as each band member... He killed it💪
Most of the fans which are called to come up on the stage were randomly auditioned on the soundcheck before the show (not on purpose of course I mean: "I ant some guy from the crowd to play on my show, let's do the audition" just a randomly met guy, from the stuff, something like that). This doesn't anyhow negate the fact that such performance is extremely hard and really made that guy's day, however just listen to the song carefully - some parts are doubled, some parts are silenced and this guy exactly knew each of these changes, how long they last, when they begin etc. In addition to that no earbuds, no click, extreme noise from the hardware and big crowd watching and waiting... This is technically impossible to be a spontanious action. But like I said even after repetitions it is extremely hard for a random guy, so he has done great job.
@@plunktone4162 No. They’ve been playing this EXACT version of Monkey Wrench for years, the guy even said he watched the videos on RUclips of the live versions. He just knew what to do because he spent what I’d imagine to be months playing along to the live version, that’s it.
@@EJ2K2K agree, this is possible, but how about the earphones which all musicians wear on the stage, the click, nerves in front of the big crowd? Do you realize how loud the hardware sounds on the stage? Do you think this guy is that sort of professional musician to do this spontaneously?
I've watched this video 100 times, but I never noticed that Taylor calls out the outro solo right at 7:35. Kiss Guy fell right into the Foo groove, and Taylor knew it was "his turn" to shred.
it was also Taylor that started straight in to the song when he saw Yo-yo hold up the guitar whilst getting the distortion feedback, having brought his own pick … Taylor “I think he knows what he is going…let’s rock!”
as soon as Kiss Guy got the guitar on, he just took over everything. from the second his stepped into the main stage in front of literally everyone in that building. that was his song. they knew it was time to rock.
@Devyn Molina so to condense it which is a real tragedy cause it's beautiful but basically Dave invites people on stage to play because he remembers what it's like to be at your favorite bands show and be hoping for that never gonna happen moment when the band asks you to fill in so he gives that moment to his fans cause he can't make their dream come true but he can make you feel close for a 5 minute song
As a rock and metal lover, and Dave Grohl fan, this video makes me so incredibly happy every time I watch it. Moments like these remind you of the beauty and badassery in the world. I'm used to some things giving me chills once, but I get them every single time I come back to this. Yayo knew exactly what he was doing. Phenomenal chemistry!
What would have been funny if had a pocket full of his own picks, and threw them out Rick Nielsen style to all his new fans as he is walking off stage.
From 3:08 (Kiss Guy's first solo) is one of the greatest and cooles moments in the history of rock and roll. The solo itfself, and Dave's reaction... Legendary. The true essence of live of rock music.
Kiss Guy pulled the pick out of his pocket like he was He-Man grabbing that sword off his back...and it was at that moment Kiss Guy was the Master of the Universe!
My absolute favorite part of this is how Dave Grohl rolls off the volume on his guitar before he hands it to Yayo, and Yayo immediately says "Nah this isn't how it is going down tonight" and cranks the volume right back up to 12.
Yeah, but you always do that when you had off a guitar, otherwise it will ring and feed back to high hell with all of that stage amping. Yayo knew what he was doing.
I love how the band let him play that little solo part at the beginning of the song (2:13) by himself, without backup, because then they know from the get-go that they're playing with a musician that won't fuck up, and they're like "OK, this is good". And Dave's smile ! Priceless !
My band in high school used to play shows with Yayo’s band ‘Yayo’. They were always fucking sick and even though we never knew them super well and they were basically rockstars to us, Yayo was always super cool to me and when my band broke up, even texted me to encourage me to not give up the dream. Cool to see him getting some recognition.
Yayo was like Axel Rose and Slash rolled into one! Stage presence and confidence oozed out of this performance..his face was falling off ffs!! 🤣🤣 . Foo fighters have to get him back or do something this was amazing, the band was electric! Dave;s reactions golden what a legend Dave is he totally made it with his excitement the whole thing seems unreal it was that good. I DEMAND MORE OF THIS NOW or whenever's convenient like..
4:52 I actually adore this guitar solo. He’s not trying too hard to impress, he’s just good. And goddamn I love that melodic old school, ACDCesque kinda sound he goes for
Rest in paradise Taylor this is what music is about just having fun and foo fighters was a prime example of that Foo Fighters continue to rock in paradise
Just watched Taylors drumming documentary and he really was such a massive talent, and as everyone who knows him has said, just a great guy. Imagine having to fill the shoes of dave grohl, like his first audition with the band! What a huge loss for the music world 💔
I honestly don’t see the FOOs continuing after his passing .. this band is different from so many.. being that their all actually really good friends outside of the band and touring .. if they make another album .. IF… Dave will most likely just take over the drums .. if they ever tour again.. I just can’t see them having a tour drummer .. unless they do what LINKIN PARK DID, and soundgarden during a final show .. have a bunch of big time vocalists take Cornell’s spot.. I could see Danny Carey, Castillo , etc all filling in during shows .. or a ONE OFF .. like SG and LINKIN PARK
I managed to see them live in 2019 and it was the best concert I've ever been to by a LANDSLIDE. They know exactly how to interact with and entertain an audience. It's so sad that they'll probably never play live again after Taylor passed
Still the greatest moment in Foo history. Love this. I miss Taylor so much. Just watch his face during all of this. Pure Joy. Dave, thanks for being you!!
At 7:34, Taylor points his drumstick at Yayo. Yayo plays the last little guitar bit to set up the ending, looks back at Taylor. Taylor hits the drum fill...and they *nailed* it! Awesome musical interplay there!👍
It's funny how they give him longer solo slots, but his sense of style is so impeccable that he ends up taking just short enough time for his shredding to stay classy :D
@@patrickbertlein4626 "And a cool story bro". This was recorded, you literally just watched it, and you said "cool story, bro". I just can't with some people.
@@patrickbertlein4626 Sorry, but if you're expecting anything more than an improvised generic solo from someone who randomly gets pulled out of the crowd, you're living in a fantasy world.

Yea what the hell ahahah he won’t randomly forgot this moment I remember random shit like going to a dinner from years ago he’ll obviously remember this pretty big specific event

Very nice! I feel like with so many musicians I've known or met, we can all appreciate good music or recreating for ourselves songs or sounds we've lived with or just love hearing often. I'm not surprised it was just a really good musician that got an amazing chance to rock out with a massive band - and goodness, LOVE Dave for just saying F it, let's just let this happen, classic ❤️
@MorbidManMusic technically correct. Everybody is having some effect on everybody else. Every single person's choices affect everyone else. Thanks reminding me of this
Yayo is so fucking humble, he doesn't even give his full name on stage. Unbelievable. And such a team player - he seamlessly blends with everyone and stands out without showing up anyone.
He wasn't smiling. That was his normal drum face that he made every song. I didn't actually see him smile once during this whole thing. Probably didn't want to lose focus at the insanity going on. Someone had to keep time!
Can we all just appreciate this video. It's put together from bunch of random fan videos. It must've taken ages to compile it all and time them so well. Thanks dude!
Well all you need to do is get all the videos starting at the same place and lined up under each other, then you can just take out whatever parts you want from each one, merge them together and add some transitions. The syncing is not complex because they are all videos from the same concert, so they are all the same lengths once you sync up the start. Wouldn't take long at all. But yeah cool video overall.
@@user23724 ehhhh disagree, i imagine syncing something like this is rather complex. the audio would sound so different in each spot that the different camera angle is in. actually now that i type this, they probably just took the best audio and mixed it with the others. so maybe you’re right? idk im not that good with premiere
Uhhh. Adobe Premiere will sync a bunch of videos based on their sound automatically. Literally takes seconds. Them being from different angles with slightly different audio wouldn't matter at all.
I'm not sure about spots in productions like this, I'm guessing they're computer controlled. I did manual spotlight for a couple productions and for my highschool and it's surprisingly not all that hard. Then again that guy was running around like a bat out of hell.
@@nickel36 probably robo-spots for this show. They're remote controlled by a small screen and (12 channel) controller. They've got hot spot crosshairs, visual stream, easy fade in and fade out, as well as iris controls for like 12 different channels (fixtures) Usually better than leaving hands in the cats (which is absolutely miserable depending on the venue/show/length) and honestly, despite the expensive rig, probably cheaper than using multiple spot ops.
Some vintage hands told me how, back in the day, they used to wear adult diapers for shows because they couldn't move once placed and they started wearing those dorky umbrella hats because of all the moisture and heat coming off the crowd and condensating so heavily on the ceiling that sweat basically rained from the roof above the cats. Extremely grateful for remote control. lol
@@uptownmermaid9309 that's really cool. We had like 50 year old spots (I don't actually know how old, but old and manual), so nothing close to that tech. A slightly more modern light board I used too, but still nothing close to that and no one even knew how to use it to it's full potential.
@@nickel36 for an event like this you’d be looking at something like an Avolites Arena as a main desk for lighting. I use them, at this level we load the whole event as pre-programmed already but taking control of any fixture for manual programming on the fly is really simple. For spots and sharpies controlled by the desk, you’d typically use the two jog wheels to control a gimbal and track something moving randomly on stage.
I love the fact that Kiss Guy actually nodded to Taylor to start the song (another video, different angle), like fuck Dave and whatever he wants to say.. lets rock! :D hence that surprised "oh shit" :D

Naw. Give me the real, raw shit. Give me talented, dedicated people pushing themselves to the limit of what they can do. Give me the 'only in real life' situations like this that nobody would believe if it was in a story. Give me the real connection between artist and audience. This is not staged. Any really good musician will know where to go with the flow.
But like I said even after repetitions it is extremely hard for a random guy, so he has done great job.

it was also Taylor that started straight in to the song when he saw Yo-yo hold up the guitar whilst getting the distortion feedback, having brought his own pick … Taylor “I think he knows what he is going…let’s rock!”
as soon as Kiss Guy got the guitar on, he just took over everything. from the second his stepped into the main stage in front of literally everyone in that building. that was his song. they knew it was time to rock.

@@user23724 why you gotta shit on this comment
Respect to that lighting tech. He ran those spots perfect and completely ad hoc.
I swear... I have watched this video a million times! No matter what mood I am in.... this video will always make me smile!
I love the "Oh shit" from Dave when he starts playing
First rule if playing guitar in public is never say how good you are. Within 5 seconds everyone will know.
Very cool that Foo Fighters are willing to share the stage.
I love the fact that Kiss Guy actually nodded to Taylor to start the song (another video, different angle), like fuck Dave and whatever he wants to say.. lets rock! :D hence that surprised "oh shit" :D
