Fyi I'm not an expert on K-hiphop so here's some short info about the rappers who performed in this video.
Jo Gwangil : A rapper who is famous for doing crazy fast raps, with his biggest hit being 'Acrobat' (the one you reacted to is a remix version). He is also the winner of Show me the money 10.
Ollttii : One of the best freestyle rappers in Korea.
Sikboy : He's somewhat obscure but from what i know he's a technically skilled rapper.
Basick : The winner of Show me the money 4 and a veteran rapper with lots of experience. Some people regard him as one of the best rappers in the K-hiphop scene in terms of rap skills.
Brown Tigger : A reggae musician who was the leader of Jo Gwangil's label.
Minos : An OG korean rapper who is responsible for finding many of the prominent rappers in the K-hiphop scene.
Skull : One of the most well known reggae musicians in korea. Another OG rapper too.
P-Type : Another OG rapper. He is regarded as one of the best in terms of lyrics & rhyming.
The one thing I don't like about this video is the ordering of the names since it seems to be by general popularity, instead of the order they perform in.
Gwangil Jo is known for being a fast rapper, probably in large part due to this song. After this, he would go on to SMTM10 and win (while having to prove he is more than just a fast rapper).
So the guy with the dreads is Skull (one of half of the Korean Reggae group RGP aka Skull And Haha) and the one after him was P-Type. I enjoy some RGP songs (and I loved Haha's song Gap from last year), but I agree Skull's verse is a bit of a weak link here. The one with the Compton hat is Sikboy and the one who started from the very back is Basick (winner of SMTM4). Basick for a few years was signed with RBW and Mamamoo was a feature on one of his songs during SMTM4 (Stand Up).
They certainly stacked the fast rappers at the start, while having rappers known for slower raps in the second half. It worked out really well.
I like when rappers go fast when it fits the song, but I don't like it when someone is just trying to spit syllables as fast as possible, so I was glad to see that it changed up a lot on this one.
I think Basick was on one of the MAMA performances I watched a while ago from the list you gave me, he stood out to me then aswell iirc. I need to get to know so many artists better lol... One of the best problems to have I guess
Yeah, he was on the SMTM4/UPRS2 Showcase. If I were to put together a list of performances from SMTM that were my favorites, he would probably be on there a few times.
