Great episode. I think it was especially powerful when Mimi expressed love at the end. It validated what Nick was saying, but I think it also validated the worth that every human being has.
Thank you for this and thank you to Nic for sharing your story. I'm a recovering alcoholic/addict myself. I've been clean and sober since July 13, 2018, however I'm currently struggling with masturbation, which as a female feels weird to say. I love how you all talked about and addressed this. Keep it up!
I loved what Nick had to say about the innate value of people and sin in general. I obviously can’t speak for God but I feel like he was meant to experience these things in order to help so many people-not just those struggling with porn addiction. Im impressed by how open, articulate and willing to help he is. What a fabulous guy to have in the show! I’m sure his family is so proud of him!
17:27 I don't feel like he answered this person's question and I think it was an important one. Because I feel like his answer just begged the original question which wasn't "Is masturbation bad" but was "Why do people still masturbate in committed sexual relationships? What are they getting from it that they aren't getting from their spouse?"
He did answer it, he said that the question is assuming that the thing in common is orgasm and he changed that view, he said that marriage and healthy seaxual relationships aren't about orgasm, it is about commitment and masturbation is an addiction still because it is an addiction, it's not the search for commitment. So the reason someone still masturbates in a committed sexual relationship is because addiction and commitment are two different things, neither 'cures' the other. Thus, the addiction need to be treated single or married.
These two videos were amazing and I think can be applied in so many aspects of life. Just opening up to people more and being willing to be vulnerable with anything going on in your life is so powerful! Thank you so much Nic for sharing. I absolutely loved your perspectives on things and the loving way you taught us all. And thank you Mimi! I really felt your love at the end there. You’re amazing! And Kwaku...love you too, even though you made fun of Mimi! ;-) I love your testimony and your humor! You guys are so amazing!
Great video. I would just like to add that mental health plays a critical role in a major way as to why men, even married men, view pornography. Let's also point out that the use of porn among women is significantly on the rise, but rarely talked about. If we can focus on the reasons why an individual is involved in porn, and not focus soley on porn itself(both is better), I feel strongly that more positive outcomes will occur.
I heard the spirit say "those who will continue while participating in fornication, will find death to be their destination and the devil as their constant companion."
I will add an antidote to this situation. Jesus said in Matthew 5:29-30 "29And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. 30And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell." Basically, get off the phone at night.
