Born and raised here and I tell people the same thing. If they can only pick one place to go in Montana. I usually go every summer since it's a couple of hours away.
Gorgeous video a little more detail especially mentioning when approaching Logan Pass and what direction you were driving East or West. We did it East (St Marys) to West (Lake McDonald). Yours is West to East....Logan Pass a must stop if you are lucky enough to find a parking space. "Road To The Sun" in a World by itself.. Very fortunate to do this spectacular drive..Sep 2013
Great video -- amazing photography. You've done a terrific job filming. I haven't been up on the road since I was a kid back in the 1970s. Looks like it's improved a lot. Thanks for this video. Totally appreciated!
It's a beautiful place. I fell in love with Glacier ❤ I have been to Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Teton and many others but Glacier is special. They all have so much beauty, personally Glacier is my favorite so far.
Beautiful video! We got to go several yrs ago but only as far as Lake McDonald. Was still too much snow up on Logan Pass! This was a nice way to see what we didn't get to! Thanks
Wow amazing filming job!! I love how you haven't added background music, I find that sometimes takes away from the scenery being captured. I am wondering though-- can I ask you what type of camera you used?? This quality is amazing!!!
Awesome video, though as someone who has done this drive 10+ I'd recommend going earlier in the year if you want to see more glaciers, waterfalls, snow. Best time is July/August imo. By late September/October much of the snow if melted and waterfalls are a trickle.
@@SeattleSunshine I meant it's the road from the beginning of 'The Shining' movie. One of my favorites and the main reason I desperately want to go there. Quite a trip from Poland. Of course your video shines too :)
The last time I was there, the weather was very different. It was cloudy, drizzling and grey all over. When we got to the visitor's center at the top, we couldn't see a darn thing because it was all socked in clouds. However, on the way up, I was amazed at all of the waterfalls that cascaded down the mountainsides and washed across the road. We had to drive through dozens of them. I guess climate change has come to Glacier. Still... the views were absolutely stunning. I felt like, if we ran off the road, we might burn up on reentry. LOL
Superbly captured! As if I was there myself. May I ask which route did you take when taking this- East to West or West to East? We’re going in June. I want to be on the right side of the road inorder to get the perfect shots/video. Thanks! -Aileen
I went to through West Glacier Entrance to the all the way to Saint Mary Visitor Center following going-to-the-sun road. It was magnificent. Video doesn't do the job. Way better with your own eyes. I highly recommend to go many glacier hotel next to swift current lake. Beautiful. Thanks!!
Luckily, acquired property not far from Glacier National Park, the National Bison Range, Flathead National Forest, and the Pablo Nature Preserve. It's a beautiful location to be in if you like the great outdoors!
How was the drive going to the "going to the sun road?" I drove through Yosemite and some part didn't have the wall barrier on the outer banks and I was really nervous. Does this place have wall barrier throughout? Great video btw! If may ask, how did you mount your GoPro, from inside or outside the car?
Scariest drive ever!! I was the passenger in a 25 foot camper. The entire time I felt like I was going to fall over! By the way, cameras are not supposed to drive that road.
It's incredible that we can actually build a road up the side of a mountain! How is the Logans Pass interpretive center? Parking lot is always full and i have yet to go inside haha...
@@SeattleSunshine perfect, that's around the time we'll be there this year. Is it too crowded, especially the visitors center especially Apgar and Logan Pass ?
@@seinfeldcostanza9433 All the visitor center and Lodge was closed due to covid. I'm not sure they open now or later. Several national park rangers helped outside of visitor center.
Beautiful footage! May I ask, is this from the west entrance going east? Or was this filmed from the east entrance going west? Great job on this video!

Fabulous filming job ... best I've ever seen! You've come the closest to capturing what it's really like to be there. Thank you

Thank you for making this video! I’ll never be able to go to GNP because of my chronic illness, so this is the next best thing :-).
Thank you for filming that. Now I know I will not be taking that drive!
It’s beautiful, but no. I would have to do one of their tours.

The drive to the Overlook Hotel from The Shining was filmed on this road.
Great video. Thank you. How do you change the angle of the camera without showing the inside of the car? Is the camera on the outside of the car?
Technically, I was holding my Gopro all the way outside the window. So I can move the camera around. Also editing is essential. Thanks for watching.
Can I use my 2 wheel drive car? Or it requires 4wd?
Sorry for a sealy question
not a silly question - 2wd is fine in the summer, road is closed for most of the year though so check ahead. Hope you enjoy our country!

try going to lake louise on july long
What I noticed was the complete absence of RVs. No trailers, class A, or even class C rigs. Why is that?

Vehicles over 21 feet or over 8 feet wide are prohibited on the going to the sun road. Please visit Glacier's official website for the rules.

Due west at a blind day's end, flying pavement underfoot
Some horizon eyeing me up, often does right at dusk
Often known it wore that look
And I've known it one too many times

Going on and on just shake my sleep all night
Could be I'm finally losing my fight
Due south all the fog aired out
No idea where all this leads
Though I still wanted to show Going-to-the-Sun Road to you
Still got one in me
If I want to, I'll arrive at peace
I know I decide what I remember
If this ever mended me
All the on and on
Just shakes my sleep all night
Now I'm losing my fight
A estrada do sol
O começo de tudo
E as nuvens que agora se afastam
Mostrando um caminho que está sempre lá
E que é qualquer lado que a gente quiser caminhar
