sigh... Thanks for the video tour! I actually learned a few things and a few trails I should try despite having been on it more times than I can remember, and you've definitely sold me on going in autumn. Usually I go around Labour Day, but I think a second trip towards the end of Sept. or beginning of Oct. should be in order :)
@@TheWestisBig I'm excited over a recent discovery of a lady who has dedicated herself to exploring the "Montana Megaliths". Due to their potential for forcing a rewriting of the North America History Timeline, she has the Mainstream Academics resistance. However, these giant structures and stones are just too large to hide, and they won't go away. They will be the greater voice of forward in discovery. A most inspiring subject for a Sociologist/Behavioralist and Historian. It feels so exciting to hold expectations of new values of clarity in the History of our USA. It's a fabulous story of evolving discoveries and supported by the Native People's. How fabulous the feeling that won't be discouraged by those whom are threatened by Discoveries and greater facts supported Clarity. Enjoy your Montana Treks and Discoveries! Inspiring !!!
Perfect template for our trip in September this year! We plan to ride the GTSR exactly the way you describe. Thank you so much, keep it up! Greetings from Germany!
I don’t know why they’d move it or get rid of it, but when we went there was a stop with the history of the build. It’s as amazing as the drive itself. There were hundreds of photos of the progress along with photos of the design and engineering. For me, it made the drive even more incredible
The info sign you are talking about is in the St Mary Picnic area on the back side facing north. FYI- subscribe to my channel and you'll find a silent movie from the early 30s on the park produced by the great Northern RR. It includes the road building.
Thank you so much! We ate actually starting our stay on the West side (we're eloping up there!) and halfway through the trip we are staying on the East Side!
Thanks for commenting! Btw it sounds like you would benefit from watching my “Glacier: The Hiker’s National park “ video. subscribe it’s on my channel! also beware - your wedding photog needs a filming permit! it’s insane but true.
Yes! They have a special use permit for weddings now. Our local photogrographer let us know! We talked to a park guide who issues them and we are all covered! Thank you ❤️
I've been there with my parents in September 2005 and it was magical. And I very well remember my Dad and me spotting a bear in quite some distance from one of those scenic spots along the road. We were fascinated, the bear disappeared, we waited and waited - and suddenly it reappeared some 20 meters (sorry, metric brain here) in front of us. Do you know those cartoons, were someone in a precarious situation tiptoes backwards on his toenails? That would have been us on our way back to the rental. My Dad is now 80 - and we still talk about that experience.....
That's a great story. If you haven't already watched the Iceberg Lake Trail segment in the 2hr Glacier: The Hiker's National Park video. There 's a bear on the trail and then I show what happened on my First trip to the park in 1994 when a bear attacked a man near my Swiftcurrent Cabin.
I was wondering when you make a vehicle reservation for GTTS Road, do you have to select a specific time frame or is it good for the whole day? Thank you for all your useful information.
Glacier's great and I'm glad we went. but it is SO HARD to get anywhere to see what you came to see. Grand Teton, by contrast, is on full display at all times from all vantage points. and, for whatever reason for us last year, shows off its wildlife much more readily.
Let’s not forget, bears can peel your car open like a can. They don’t even break a sweat. They just delicately use their claws to peel open the windows and doors, right through the roof. If you’re ignorant enough to get that extreme close up, it will only take about 90 seconds
Yes they can peel open a car! I took a pic of a Volvo door that was peeled away by a bear who wanted the cheerios in the back. the car was just outside the portico of the Awani Hotel in Yosemite.
I rode the Going to the Sun Road yesterday. The views were absolutely stunning! I really do appreciate you keeping all of the climate change propaganda out of the discussion about the glaciers melting. The fact is dinosaurs occupied this area prior to one of the many Ice Ages this region has cycled through. This Cycle has been occurring way before man was ever here & will likely continue long after we are gone.
Yes, The Climate is always changing. here’s a video i made 12 years ago on the subject. - when experts said all the glaciers would be gone. ruclips.net/video/4QuTPfcKKd8/видео.html

Glad it was helpful! labor day is my fave time to go- when there are no nearby fires. The fall color is great for photos

Will check it out 👍
Thanks for making a good video 👍
Thanks for watching!

the vehicle res tickets in Glacier are good for day- they are not timed like Arches and other park

I'd love to travel the road east to west, but I'm afraid to drive with the steep drop-offs.
It’s not scary. from east to west you’re a lane away from the dropoff
The opening scene to the movie The Shining was filmed here on the Going-to-the-Sun Road..
Correct

Shut up about the age of rocks. You can't tell the age of a rock no more than how many hairs are on my head.
that’s not true. LOL.
