Fantano has some bad takes but this one really shocked me. I guess he didn’t even give the new Waxahatchee album a real review and just did a short on it saying it was boring. And I love that album and I believe she works with MJ Lenderman on her album
Nog even close, his takes in the lyrical quality and his voice are some of the worst, like he genuinely seems unable to understand what lyrics are which is crazy cuz as a review of music thats incredibly important
Love Wednesday. For my money the superior band, but I've had the MJ album on repeat all week. Fantastically minimalist and love the sullen irony. Makes the silly, somewhat non-sequitar lyrics come across at so much more.
AVAA! Someone else mentioned it but he is in another band called Wednesday. The girl he was dating is Karly Hartzman, the lead singer of Wednesday. You should definitely check them out as well. Luckily they seem to be on good terms. Love your interpretation of She's Leaving You. I don't think it is about Karly directly so I love the idea of it being about this divorced dad. Excited to listen to that song again with this frame of reference. Subscribed.
came across this band last year and fell in love , i love artists that aren't trying to seem smarter than you and to have an answer , the album feels like how true emotions and thoughts go , scatterbrained and said with intention . upon learning nearly most songs off their new album i was so surprised to how simple and sweet the chord structures are . a band i havent been so interested in since modest mouse and built to spill
AVAA, he plays guitar throughout Waxahatchee's Tiger's Blood if you didnt already know! Also, Father John Misty posted a trolling instagram story referencing lyrics nowadays sounding like Dril tweets - something people have speculated is aimed at Lenderman's quotables. All in jest I imagine.
I definetly think the outdoors background should stay, it really highlights your "authentic off the script rant" style of video. AVAA Oh also you should check out Embodiments by Bady-Dorzhy Ondar and Shodekeh. Its not a new album but its definetly worth hearing. Some wierd mix of funk, rap, and throat singing.
professor, i've only recently found your channel due to the heart pt. 6 analysis blowing up on twitter, but i've really fallen in love with your work. i am a sophomore in college now, just ending week 3, and i have ADHD. it's something that i've always struggled with (at the moment, i'm writing this because i got distracted on youtube instead of finishing a reflection paper), but watching you has given me some hope in a way. i believe that you've said in a previous video that you also have ADHD (if not, i can at least see a lot of my own ramble-y behaviors in you), and it is really nice to see that you've still found success in spite of it. Not without struggle, presumably, but you persueing your passion in music on this channel and in your life is inspiring for me in a way. sorry for throwing my life story at you, but i'd just like you to know that your work ethic has helped me work better. thanks!
I have had pretty severe but undiagnosed ADHD my whole life. Just figured out ways to work with it, but I do think my life would have been much easier had I been diagnosed.
AVAA Skye, great to see you record this I was one of the people that requested it. Huge Alien isolation fan too love the feel of that game. Very much a huge fan of pathetic dude music. I do agree that Rudolph is by far my least favourite on the album but I wouldn't be in the seminary line is great. His band Wednesday is also fantastic, he was dating the singer of Wednesday but unfortunately they broke up before this album, think the band is staying together though. She's got a great voice and a very similar tone in her lyrics. Also as someone who has only heard 1 or 2 Neil Young albums I'd love to hear your favourites from him and possibly a video in future when your life is a bit less chaotic. MJ Lenderman is also very inspired by the band Songs Ohia which I think may have an album coming that might be of interest to you.
Little late to the party. AVAA and I think you did a little to expand how this album speaks to me. Songs like "she's leaving you" express an emotion that I seriously cannot put into words or explain, which is why it's so great, but I appreciate the addition of your Neil expertise to how I can look at the album. His earlier works are much more Jason Molina than Neil Young, which is a touchpoint I'm more familiar with. If you haven't given Songs: Ohia a listen you definitely should, btw.
AVAA, regarding the manning meaning you were talking about it being a town, but I thought it just meant he was manning/the man doing the fireworks? Love the review ❤️
AVAA If you've not already you should listen to new album Real Deal by Honeyglaze. They're a new band from European anglosphere south London (The Windmill) and the album reminds me in parts of each three BCNR records
please review Phiik & Lungs' Carrot Season, I think you'll have interesting things to say about their rapping styles. also shoutout to MJ lenderman, it's a nice record (but not better than Carrot Season)
professor skye has come to rectify one of anthony fantano's worst takes

Melon was right though
Nog even close, his takes in the lyrical quality and his voice are some of the worst, like he genuinely seems unable to understand what lyrics are which is crazy cuz as a review of music thats incredibly important
@@sfglim5341 No he's right, the album is bland and samey. The lyrical content is a shallow and cringe-inducing Malkmus pastiche.
@@jcg_001 get over yourself
AVAA. he is in a band called wednesday. he doesn’t sing lead but it’s pretty good! a bit more shoegazy

AVAA - I've been drifting further and further into the alt-country/indie-folk space for years now and this album totally hit all those spots for me.

AVAA Could you review the new Nala Sinephro album Endlessness?
I definetly think the outdoors background should stay, it really highlights your "authentic off the script rant" style of video. AVAA

AVAA! i love this album so much, it totally caught me by surprise
The clarinet and oboe are extremely distinct sounding. I cannot fathom someone mixing them up😂
Think you were spot on with the Neil Young stuff! Just saw MJ live in Boston and Neil dominated the pre-set playlist.
AVAA Skye, great to see you record this I was one of the people that requested it. Huge Alien isolation fan too love the feel of that game. Very much a huge fan of pathetic dude music. Just like Neil, Lenderman has that ability to rock hard when it’s called for. And with a guitar sound and technique of his own at that.
AVAA. Excellent analysis of this fresh and compelling album, and thank you for making me aware that Alien: Isolation is available on mobile devices.
“Manning fireworks” just means the dude is the guy in charge of the fireworks at a party or whatever.
Yooo Asheville shoutout! i didn’t know about this artist and Imo from there. Thanks professor. AVAA
"He has to have a drummer." Actually, MJ plays most of the instruments on the album, including drums!
LOVE THE BACKYARD STUFF

The khalua shooter line delivery always stuck with me too that crazy
AVAA, regarding the manning meaning you were talking about it being a town, but I thought it just meant he was manning/the man doing the fireworks? Love the review ❤️
Oboes are more nasal and weedy, and clarinets are more dopey and rounded. Clarinets sound good together and an oboe is usually better solo.
AVAA, speaking of fantano, he better drop the skye cut
Thanks for reviewing this. Easily an AOTY contender for me up there with Cindy Lee.
Fantano's review of this was a total airball lol
AAVA. Love the outside background the birds are welcome too
AVAA If you've not already you should listen to new album Real Deal by Honeyglaze. They're a new band from European anglosphere south London (The Windmill) and the album reminds me in parts of each three BCNR records
AVAA WE ALL GOT WORK TO DO!
AVAA! i love my TV !
please review Phiik & Lungs' Carrot Season, I think you'll have interesting things to say about their rapping styles. also shoutout to MJ lenderman, it's a nice record (but not better than Carrot Season)
Weird, Rudolph is my favorite! AVAA
AVAA ❤
My mom also made the Neil young comparison lol AVAA
avaa!
I also don’t like Rudolph oh my god this is wild
AVAA!
AVAA
Its a great album, but his contribution to the Waxahatchee album was way better. AVAA
Pure indie/songwriter fluff at its inconsistent worst.
