As much I love this conversation, the over mention of Erewhon as if it's a common store nationwide or evenly REMOTELY reasonably priced food is absurd. $19 for a smoothie or $9 for a water bottle is not sustainable for any middle class American.
Another thing to keep in mind is that though it is cheaper to make from scratch, many low income households do not have the time or energy to do this. As both parties have to work. Maybe work on creating healthy soup kitchens
What else can we use for coffee. I love my coffee but I have a recent seed allergy and I thought oat milk was safe? No wonder my symptoms haven’t gone away and I fully changed my diet except my coffee which I enjoy so much? Please help I don’t think I can break up with my coffee and I need some sort of cream. Thanks for the info.
For those of you looking.. Serenity Kids Toddler formula has the best ingredients by Far, we gave it to our new born from 2 weeks on, he’s happy and healthy, no seed oils, someone from Serenity kids told me they were trying to get it approved for new borns because the macros were roughly the same as other newborn formulas
This was incredibly informative and upsetting at the same time. You are such a wonderful interviewer Mari and the passion exuding from Courtney is inspiring me to make some changes. ❤️ I do not want to pass down the “nostalgia” of toxic food to my future children.
in last about 7 years I dropped sugar at all and I am trying buy product without sugar - I can say good luck anything just without sugar is expensive than version with sugar - strange ....
Courtney is beautiful, and really enjoyed this episode. Although I feel maybe we didn't hear enough about all the "foods" we shouldn't be having. Like how there is heavy metals and mold in instant coffee , which I just found out recently. I've switched to Organic Brewed coffee ☕💕and my dad got me to stop using non stick pants, THANKFUL for this.
42:49 not one healthy formula?? No formula on the shelf has helped grow babies into children? What does this woman propose as the alternative? Let the baby starve as mom realizes she’s unable to lactate? Or have the baby have allergic reactions to mom’s milk? I’m not going to listen to your other episodes for the answer due to one of your solutions being going to a breast milk bank. Yes income creates a barrier but it’s more than income. Fed is best and it takes one story of a baby dying from malnutrition due to parental neglect to realize this. The healthiest option is to feed your baby the nutrients it needs which is conveniently in pre-made formula. Thank god we have this and don’t have to watch our babies die a preventable malnourished death like they did hundreds of years ago
I’ve been a women’s, infant, NICU, OB RN for over 30 years. It is impossible for an infant to be allergic to human milk. Infants can be allergic to the proteins (ie, cow’s milk) that a mother consumes. Infant formulas are made from cow’s milk, the most allergenic substance. Soy in soy formulas is the 2nd most allergenic ingredient. And as for lactose intolerance, human milk contains lactase, the enzyme that breaks down lactose. It is impossible for a breastfed baby to have lactose intolerance. Formulas have lactose, because it is essential for brain development, but they do not contain lactase to digest this enzyme. The vast majority of moms who think they don’t have enough milk don’t realize their baby is actually getting enough. Babies appear hungry nearly constantly the first couple of weeks, because the constant suckling night & day is designed to bring in the milk supply. Infants are meant to nurse round the clock with little to no pacifiers to improve the supply. Only when infant loses more than 10% of their body weight while being fed frequently enough, or is still losing weight by 2 weeks of age & failing to have wet & dirty diapers while being frequently fed (every 2-3 hours round the clock) can we say milk supply is inadequate - only truly about 5% of mothers. What I see on a daily basis is mothers having doubt and giving bottles on day 1 or 2.
@@JennyLouRNlove This! Thank you for educating us! I wish more doctors knew this, a lot of them push formula. I know when my baby was born they were pushing it but I says NO

So no oat milk is going to be tough for me but I’m grateful for this info! Is almond milk a good option?
Another thing to keep in mind is that though it is cheaper to make from scratch, many low income households do not have the time or energy to do this. As both parties have to work. Maybe work on creating healthy soup kitchens
No body had the time or energy, it’s about what you prioritize and value.

What a great way to spread knowledge without inducing fear. Thank you for this episode
