    She’s amazing. I wish they mic’d her up tho, seems like when the rest of the band was playing with her it was a bit hard to hear her

      Could be mic placement in the hall.

      I heard her just fine.

      Yes! She is not mic’d up right. Compare it to the Lionel Fumeaux performance video of this same piece on RUclips, which has over 2M views now. Lionel is mic’d better and the recording sounds better. Even though I personally think she plays it better than Lionel.

      @@jonathanv9587 The problem here is definetly the mic layout in the hall. This concert was from a brass band contest in Norway, and soloist are standing all over the place, so they tend not to have mic in front of the band, just over.

    Not sure if this works with Brass Band or perhaps such a big band. That's a he'll of a blow for Bass trombone and they seem to be over powering. She does a fantastic job, fare play.

    • @jagnit9390

      Quadruple tonguing isn’t a thing, that’s just double tonguing twice. A lot of it is triple tonguing though

    Her playing was great, but this piece isn’t suited for a full ensemble slowed down. It loses its bite and a lot of the fast pace jazzy stuff. It’s like slowing down blue bells. It just wouldn’t sound right for the ensemble to slow it down. Again, her playing was great, but composers have a reason for the tempos they set. The tempo for this solo gives it its flare and characteristics for the ensemble setting… also I feel like the recording didn’t do her justice. I couldn’t always hear her over the ensemble. I know the ensemble wasn’t playing over her. So either it’s her needing to play out more or recording/balancing issues. It’s most likely the second one.

      Wanna explain why? I thought most of her technique was on point. Is it the arrangement, the soloist?

    • @jessecohen4517
      @jessecohen4517 3 года назад +10

      @@zacharybarker9613 Her playing is phenomenal. It's just a piece that is not well suited for a large ensemble. There isn't any bite to it. Also I can barely hear the soloist. Maybe it's just the recording
