@@PeterSteinerOfficial I also studied trombone and played for 8 years in the orchestra, but I am not nearly as good as you ;-). Keep it up, I love your play!
Back in the day (70's & 80's) I considered myself a damn good bass trombonist. However, I pale in comparison to this guy, and others who are able to play this Fly or Die piece. Great job!
@@PeterSteinerOfficial Did some more listening to your youtube channel and went to your website. I see we have at least two things in common: We have both performed Tommy Pederson's Cogent Caprice and we have both played with the symphony in Denver, Colorado (when I played with them in the late 70's, it was the Denver Symphony Orchestra...prior to the name change in 1989). I stopped playing in 2010...just didn't have it in me anymore. However, I gladly surrendered to the likes of you, and those like you, who make the trombone and bass trombone a glorious instrument!
I can't decide who I like better, Lionel or Peter. Lionel hit bass notes better, but Peter had better tone and better dynamics. Both are crazy good though.
After listening to them carefully I think that Peter has something more in the precision and speed of execution. The low notes are better because Lionel uses a low trombone.
He sounds out of tune and doesnt hit all the notes during the performance, hes amazing but still, that's just how I hear it. Just about a week or so of practice would fix this amazingly
Jonahbacon that was performed live and Not in Studio., you are sometimes right, but the feeling and the Sound is ,to me at least, much better as from the original Performer, Lionel Fumeaux, who Plays this piece on Bass trombone ,for what It was written for ...but with a dirtier Sound, less feeling
If you like this, you should hear him now! I heard him perform this at ITF 2019 and it was incredible! He's so much better now than he was when this was recorded, and thats saying something.
@@charleyhibschweiler4555 I've come a long way since I wrote that comment. I have almost mastered blue bells of scotland and I'm thinking about doing this or something a little easier for comments only next sólo and ensamble
Amazing! I have met you in person before, but didn't really know of you back then. Now that I have been listening to United and one of your recitals, I would love to congratulate you! You are a great trombonist, and my instructor and I both look up to you. Best wishes in the future!
Thank you very much for your kind words, I really appreciate it! I will be back in the US for a Tour in November 2018 and February 2019. Perhaps we will meet again then. All the best, Peter
Congratulations Peter, very interesting interpretation, phrasing and clarity of notes, trills, etc. Also congratulations to the pianist Constanze (I live in the city of Constanța- Romania :))) who in the background supports very well the musical performance
I listen to this performance at least twice a week, your ability amazes me! It was a pleasure meeting you at ITF, and even more of a pleasure to play side by side with you in my Youth Workshop performance.
@@Gabriel-yd4bqflight of th bumblebee isn't even that hard, my teacher could play it with his FEET, he even showed it to me since I couldn't believe it. That was insane
I was thinking the same thing, I'm not sure if it's the player or just the acoustics (I'm not qualified to be talking about this.), but I think the piano in this sounds better than the live Lionel Fumeaux Version, It certainly sounded great. Additionally, with the Trombone, I favor the acoustics, I like Peter's sound, and I personally prefer it over the original as well. Though Fumeaux has become a role model for me in recent months, and I think both versions have their own benefits to them. I just prefer the way that this was written. But I think the piano in this gave it a huge bonus from the original, because this piano is a lot smoother and blends much better with the piece. Over all, I think this was an amazing performance by both of them, one of the best solo performances I've heard In a while.
Good luck 🍀 I would recommend practicing very slow - be patient! Regarding the high register there is a „High Register“ Masterclass on my RUclips channel 😀
His chops seemed like they may have been a little tired, but even then it was still great. Just seemed like there were some high notes that didn’t sound too well, but funny thing is that he recovered so well that I couldn’t even tell.
Extremely well done, i must say, but in my honest opinion, i prefer Lionel's recording. I just prefer the feeling of his performance, not to take away from your fantastic performance
It’s kinda annoying to listen to this recording from so far away. This song lends itself to the crisp articulated trills, punchy bass and comes out of nowhere, and the light swing. Love the tone, but the reverb from the recording setup was frustrating.
Очень много косяков. Неточностей. В отличии от его коллег. Звук в помещении гуляет. В темпе триоли очень торопит, выбивается из темпа. Ну и изначально слишком быстрый темп взят.
This version seems to be geared more toward tenor trombonists, there was a lack of phat notes, so I think Lionel's was better, not to say this one was bad.
@@noahmarez yeah, that's legit what Zachary was saying. Why do you have some kind of mission to defend this guy. Nobody is saying this is bad or that we could ever achieve it, but rather that lionel's sounded better.
Linkin Parke t’es sérieux ? C’est peut-être un des meilleurs trombonistes au monde ! Sa position n’est en rien dérangeante, chaque trombone a sa position...
And nobody sees the enormous daily practice which is required to play like this. So, well done both of you and greetings from Germany!

Luigi Formicola - Bass Trombone*
Idk I thought peter nailed those low notes extremely well for playing a tenor trombone
I agree with you
why not both, it's not exactly a competition when it comes to music usually.
Absolutely phenomenal performance!❤

Pourquoi ?
The tenor trombone version doesn’t have the pedal notes 😀

It's a tenor trombone, the piece was arranged by the composer for me!
the acoustics ruined it
