Excellent video Pete! :) I’m planning London to Amsterdam solo for charity for end of May or sept? 🤷‍♂️ training as much as possible. On a cube nuroad pro with 40mm shwalbe g one. Using Komoot for the route planning. Gonna book hotels along the way in advance and pray I make it to each one 😁 aiming for 5 days.. should have a motorbike friend as support vehicle once on the continent. Plenty of learning and practice to do yet 🤞🙏💪 love your vids btw very down to earth but clearly knowledgable. :)

The very first time I did L2P in 2018, I saw and chatted to an elderly English guy, maybe in his late 70s, who was doing the trip and camping too, over a few days. I saw him near Neufchâtel en Bray as he was getting out of his tent in the morning. He was absolutely loving life and I remember how jealous of him I felt.

@@petertreadway We’re doing it May half-term. Driving down to Newhaven, ferry across and then biking. 3 nights in the tent and the final night in a B&B near Paris. We’ve got a couple of long days (40 miles) due to the way the campsites were spread out but it should be fine. It’ll be slow, but we’re not racing. Train back from Paris after a quick ride round to see some sites. I’m hoping it’ll be the sort of adventure that he’ll remember forever. Happy to share my route and stuff

Hey, no problem at all. Doing it as a family sounds awesome! Can't wait for my kids to be old enough to join me. Are you staying in hotels along the way or camping? Saw plenty of people doing the later along the side of the Avenue Verte the first time I did the ride in 2016.
So this is the UK part:

As you no doubt saw in the video, there were a couple of bits that weren't super appropriate for a road bike, although it was nothing to severe. You might want to just go through it yourself first, to make sure you're happy with it.
Best of luck with your adventure.
