like I said I think you look like a movie star! If you haven't been in a "major motion picture", surely you've acted on Broadway, or a performance of one of Shakespeare's plays in Central Park? 🙂
The opening scene with Peter Stormare was HILARIOUS. Also, fun fact, he and Keanu worked together before in Constantine where he was cast as Lucifer. It was only a few minutes of screen time, but it was one of the best depictions of Lucifer on the silver screen since Al Pacino in the Devil's Advocate.
I’m not sure I can pick between the two of them, they’re both acted so well. Vigo was just creepy, where Peter was annoyed and petty (when John started to go to heaven). I love the differences between the two different styles & stories.
Drinks on set … a fairly well known fact, in the early years of the show, Cheers, they used real beer and the character who played Norm said that at first he thought he had to really drink everytime he was qued, so there were times he said that he was pretty buzzed on the set. After a few seasons they told him he didn’t actually need to drink the beer.
16:51 One of the nice details is the “press check” John does on the Kimber 1911, to make sure a round is in the chamber. The Kimber is prone to jamming on the first round, so this makes sense for that specific pistol.
19:10 The knife Ruby Rose uses is called a punch dagger (specifically, a Cold Steel Safe Maker). It is a very effective weapon for smaller fighters and women. It is very difficult to disarm, and it can punch through Kevlar vests.
I'm glad to see you're continuing the franchise. The third film is even more wild and grandiose. Can't wait. If you haven't seen it already, a first-time reaction to The Raid: Redemption would be super fun. A couple actors from that film appear in John Wick 3.
at 16:52 , john wick takes a second look at the gun chamber because this model is known for having reloading issues with the first bullet of a magazine, the amount of detail in this series is incredible.
The amount of weapons training Keanu went through to make the "Gun Fu" scenes as authentic as possible in all three movies deserves a tonne of respect. There are behind the scenes videos of how he trained with real ex military, check them out.
I have to praise the stunt team in these movies like just damn, and fighting in a suit is hard I’d imagine lol. The mirror fight is one of my faves wonder what tricks they did to hide the camera in that cause it must’ve been tricky
22:25 but that feeling of non ceremony, I gather that that is intentional and the point is the bad guy can be verbios in the end...either revealing confession or being allowed to talk until death. John Wick's act says they are not worthy of a soliloquy. He says, he's not having it. Just die. No ceremony for high level scoundrels who want more of a moment and win every second they do not buy it.-Ernie Moore Jr.
Santano didn’t want to kill him, he wants to send him a warning if he doesn’t own up to his marker. He said that at the beginning when they were talking about it
A cool little detail I picked up on is when they tell each other “Be seeing you.” It’s actually not like a term of “see you in hell” lol it is actually a formal term of respect among the criminals and assassins in that underworld, whether it be in life or just before death. It will be a bit more prevalent in the 3rd movie as well. Also you should look up the video of Keanu Reeves training with Taran Tactical at a CQB firearms range in preparation for this movie, apparently he was actually really good lol
I was watching a few of your older videos when I saw you posted this. So I obviously had to stop those and watch this! I'm so happy you're going through the series.
One of my favorite parts of this movie, for no apparent reason, is how the marker sliding across the table sounds like it weighs 100lbs. Not sure if that was on purpose, but it stood out.
it's possible that the marker prop is made of a very hard metal and the table tempered glass, basically both objects absorb barely any vibration and thus don't mute the sound of the friction.
I’ve had a martini, during a James bond marathon, I dressed up in a suit and everything. A martini is pretty much pure alcohol, vodka or gin, mixed with a vermouth, shaken with ice if you are a pansy who wants it watered down… stirred otherwise…
That ending is intense, but the more I thought about it the more John's decision made more sense to me. Plus, I don't think it was all about revenge for John at that point. After Santino blew up John's house John did want revenge. He told Santino that he wanted to kill him with his hands, but in the end, John ended up just shooting him in the head. By then it was more important to John that Santino didn't get control over New York. He was protecting his friends and The Continental. Santino wanted to take over New York and he was just going to sit in the hotel until and run the takeover of the city from there. Meanwhile, Santino's contract on John Wick would still be open, so if John left, he would be hunted if he left Santino alive. Killing Santino let saved New York from Santino's takeover, didn't really change John's circumstances (only that he won't have a place to hide) and had the added bonus of getting revenge on Santino for blowing up John's house. And I think that is also the reason Winston gave John a head start to run. Winston knew the reasons John did what he did and that headstart was a thank you for stopping Santino from taking over the city.
Agree with all this but just a minor nitpick. John didn't say he wanted to kill Santino with his hands, but rather he didn't need to use anything to do so. Sorta going against his legend with the pencil and saying it doesn't matter how he kills him just that he wanted to. Which explains why all the executions of the baddies are rather anticlimactic because John doesn't want to play into his legend, he just wants to kill in the most efficient way possible.
Just wait till #3. 😍 It takes it to a whole nutha level in all ways possible. Its so good I'm not sure how the 4th one can top it but I know they will....
I see this as my number three of the series with the 1st being my favorite and the 3rd one being my number two. However, it’s still a movie I’ll watch if it’s on TV. -I love the recall of Viggo’s speech in the first one with Peter Stormare. I watched a clip from The Graham Norton Show with Reeves and Stormare, who revealed that he made up the accent he used. -Ian McShane is too good as Winston. His line delivery is incredible. The “burned down the priest’s temple” speech creates incredible fear. When he says “This kingdom is mine and mine alone”, it shows a sense of authority that you feel. It’s a more sophisticated…..and cooler…..version of My House, My Rules.” -I loved Peter Serafinowicz as the Sommelier. As someone who lives in a South Carolina, I doubt I could find a gun shop owner like him. I loved how he said “Dessert” with that hint of joy. -Laurence Fishburne was perfect as the Bowery King. I can’t help but hear “$7 million? DAMN! It’s Christmas. We going to Applebee’s after this.” and laugh. -For some reason, the first fight between John and Cassian reminded me of on “Family Guy” when Peter and the Chicken would fight in terms of just going big. -Agreed on how the deaths of Santino and Yosef didn’t appear to give John closure in the end. The fact that he shot both as they were talking really put over how he was like, “That’s enough.” As for the death itself, the slow build with the “Will he do it?” vibe sold the moment. I kinda see similarities between that scene and a scene near the start of Avengers: Endgame. -It took me multiple viewings to realize John met Winston at the end was where Perkins had her “membership to the Continental (had) been, by (her) own hand, revoked.” I felt so stupid. -Since you asked about wrestlers, the large guy John shot in the kneecaps is Oleg Prudius, who was known as “Vladimir Koslov” in WWE. As a weird thing I realized, he held the tag titles with a guy who was named Santino. YOU. MUST. SEE. CHAPTER. THREE! It is insane! The fights. The location. The story. The only things I can say is: 1. It starts not long before Chapter 2. 2. There’s an explanation of the gold coins. I have watched Chapter 3 a number of times and I still get giddy at the very end. I watched it in the theatre when it came out and did everything to not yell,”OH, HELL YEAH!” . I compare it to anytime I listen to “Teacher, Teacher” by Jinjer.
These movies were directed by Chad Stahelski, Keanu's stunt double from The Matrix movies. Hence them having Fishburne on set, it was a mini Matrix reunion. Plus having a former stuntman directing these movies is why the stunts look so elaborate wild and yet stupidly clean.
I love how John Wick gets used to hand to hand fighting again so he gets better and better in each movie. The first movie he was a little rusty second movie not so much third movie he is a beast. Lol
I think the prime villain deaths not being "satisfying" for the audience is by design. Santino has John beat really. He can hide in the Continental and run his empire until an assassin finally takes out John. John killing him I think is initially satisfying, but then the consequences hit you very quickly. With Iosef in the first movie, I think that was more to show how easy this actually can be for John and just how good and efficient he is/was. They knew he was coming and they couldn't do a thing to stop him. It shows just how pathetic Iosef really was that he couldn't put up any sort of fight and John wipes him out in a matter of seconds. He doesn't even get the dignity of getting out his final words.
I agree with you. But I still think that Iosef's death was still designed to be satisfying for the audience. Who wouldn't relish his death since he killed John Wick's dog? But I think the villains' death in the later movies is when they start to become less satisfying as their death hold more severe consequences than Iosef's.
About the wife thing, he was retired when he was with her. That's why he did the "Impossible mission" for viggo and he asked for Santino's help. Being in debt with (the marker)
You should check out some of the videos of Keanu training at Taran Tactical (the go-to weapons training facility for Hollywood actors prepping for roles) Taran Butler says that Keanu, and his JW3 costar (SPOILERS), are two of the top to ever graduate from his program.
Yeah the "Fish" was in Apocalypse Now. Great reaction / review as always. Really glad I found your channel actually. On to three and of course 4 and 5 when available. Y'all be safe. (A little Texas slang for you)
The mirror scene is an homage to the Bruce Lee film, Enter the Dragon. In the 3rd John Wick installment, there's a nice homage to the Clint Eastwood film, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. The trilogy is full of these little winks and nods to other movies. It's part of what makes this trilogy (soon to be 4) so good.
She loved him unconditionally. His own code of conduct required that he be worthy of that unconditional love. With her death he became a more dangerous man than he had ever been. He is a man of pure purpose. All that matters Is the goal, without any mundane considerations like survival.
Heyo! Writer here -- I ask actor friends this kind of question a lot, I think it's a fun prompt: Clariss, what kind of character in the John Wick universe would you want to play?
That level of detail you are talking about is done very well, found out later that both times John puts a new magazine into a Kimber 1911 he does a press check to make sure it didn’t jam. Kimbers are notorious for jamming on the first bullet of a magazine. He doesn’t do this with the Glock. 16:48
Hi Clariss, I'm from Rome, Italy. Love your channel! I wanted to point out that the actor playing Santino (Riccardo Scamarcio) is considered a subpar actor, I honestly have no clue how he was cast in John Wick. Though he's not so bad there.
The kid in the first movie was personal. He gut shot him, slowly walked up and then calmly shot him in the head, much like he shot the bad guy at the end of the second movie. He trained with Taran Butler, a world champion in 3-gun combat shooting. He runs Taran Tactical Innovations where he teaches 3-gun combat/tactical shooting. When John is fighting professionals you should have noticed him shooting them once or twice in the chest or groin and then once to the head. Groin shot and head shot to get around the body armor most are wearing.
When you asked how is he gonna get out of this, oh you'll find out in the 3rd chapter. I don't know if you take any movie reaction request, but if you do, I'd love to see you react to Kingsman the secret service.
Talk about a Boss. Ian stopping the entire park was insane. Additionally, the casting director for these movies needs a raise no matter what they make.
Most impressive scene for me is the mirror fight scenes i can't even see the reflection of the camera, must be a hard shoot for them with all the pans and angles
I don't know if you know this but there is a huge Theory going around that suggests that the world that John wick lives in is actually the Matrix that Neo redesigned after the third movie...
On that detail about him handling weapons, check out Keanu doing 3-gun practice at Taran Tactical. All the gun stuff he does as John Wick, he can do for real. When I went back around Bethesda Fountain after I watched this movie, it felt weird there. Like everyone was about to freeze again.
As a former Marine I like to think of the John Wick weapons scenes as a cake. you can have a regular chocolate cake which is fine; or you can have a chocolate rum or chocolate raspberry cake where the subtle extra flavors bring an entirely new appreciation. Thank you for continuing to do great work.
Well, they didn't show us the "original" bar fight where he killed three men with a pencil. But they did show us him killing two guys with a pencil. The one thing I would like to see at some point is a prequel where they show us John Wick completing the "impossible task" they keep talking about. The job he had to do to get out of the life and be with his wife.
I would love a prequel but I don't know if they would do one because the actor who played Viggo sadly passed away. They would have to recast him (unlikely), or explain why Viggo doesn't make a personal appearance despite having a direct, professional relationship with John.
Keanu did a lot of training with Taran Tactical, and I believe he may have had some input on the choreography. Be sure to check out Lena Miculek as well!
Again, poor John could've avoided s lot of this mess if they would just talk to him.. My favorite part was Arilio going over the damage to the car... 🤣 You're reactions and micro-expressions are the best. Your eyes are so animated 👍
"It's not as cute as Daisy, but it's a cute dog." Daisy was specifically chosen to be the cutest dog possible in order to better "serve her purpose" in the narrative, so I guess that's not a surprise... 🥺🐶🥺
You should watch the training video on YT where Keanu trains with Taran Tactical for his weapons training for the John Wick movies, unreal dedication to his art.
Honestly i love all ur reactions even if i've seen other reaction videos on the same movies, just something about ur personality. I truly believe if u continue you'll concur higher ground lol
I still haven't figured out what was the task that John had to pull off with Santino's help, they just referenced it here but never was it revealed. Would love to know what was the task and how many bodies did John burn in that task
On your note about the targets not being satisfying kills. First, totally agree. Second, I would say that is intentional. If you examine the fights, his fight with any of the named assassins definitely feels more significant and like he's overcome an obstacle. Heck, even the nameless ones or all the soldiers and guards...they are easy hurdles but they are still something standing in his way. I feel like there's a lot of meaning in the fact that once he GETS to his targets they put up little to no fight even if they try to, like the Russian kid in the first movie. It gives the feeling, like you said, of this is just another day at the office for Jon. The targets are chosen through vengeance rather than money, but they aren't actually significant in the narrative or to Jon. He just can't let their actions go without retribution.

Stormare's depiction of satan was top notch. But my favorite will always be Viggo in the Prophecy series.

that weapon that john wick checks the chamber is very realistic since that weapon is well known for jamming the first bullet

The raid is good, but mainstream, dread is better…
at 16:52 , john wick takes a second look at the gun chamber because this model is known for having reloading issues with the first bullet of a magazine, the amount of detail in this series is incredible.
Bro that last gun shot hits hard. Keanu reeves does an amazing job showing hate and anger in that last kill.
Crew/Equipment reflections can be removed in Post-Production.
Some people forget John asked for two suits. He was planning the long game from the beginning.
Santano didn’t want to kill him, he wants to send him a warning if he doesn’t own up to his marker. He said that at the beginning when they were talking about it
Fun facts, russian mob boss in john wick 1 and in the beggining of 2 are both played by swedish actors :) Mikael Nyqvist and Peter Stormare .

I like how they did with the pigeon flying like scared when John warning winston that he will kill them all
me watching the reaction.. "thats y u always double tap" .. 🤣 just as she said it. lol
One of my favorite parts of this movie, for no apparent reason, is how the marker sliding across the table sounds like it weighs 100lbs. Not sure if that was on purpose, but it stood out.
it's possible that the marker prop is made of a very hard metal and the table tempered glass, basically both objects absorb barely any vibration and thus don't mute the sound of the friction.
i love it when people say "without further ado" then proceed with SO MUCH ADO!
13:20 ICONIC PENCIL SCENE!!
Santino didn’t want John Wick dead at the start of the movie……he was just sending a message to John of what happens when you refuse a marker.
The world they build is so intrigung. They were talking about making a "Continental" TV-Series, I truly hope they do.
It appears they will. They've gone as far as to cast Mel Gibson in for a role
Just wait till #3. 😍
It takes it to a whole nutha level in all ways possible.
Its so good I'm not sure how the 4th one can top it but I know they will....
I thought that about the second one and they did it
I feel like Wick will try to take down the High Table itself in the 4th movie after spending time serving under them.
I see this as my number three of the series with the 1st being my favorite and the 3rd one being my number two. However, it’s still a movie I’ll watch if it’s on TV.

YOU. MUST. SEE. CHAPTER. THREE! It is insane! The fights. The location. The story. The only things I can say is:

2. There’s an explanation of the gold coins.

16:50 in gun related circles this is a press check. It's is also known as showing off lol one handed press check basically flexing
Ur reaction was one of the best I’ve seen so far😂😂😂
Yeah the "Fish" was in Apocalypse Now.
Great reaction / review as always. Really glad I found your channel actually. On to three and of course 4 and 5 when available.

I love you so much
i had a martini recently, From what i can tell, they are mostly a very neutral drink. Meant to be more refreshing than flavorful.
She loved him unconditionally. His own code of conduct required that he be worthy of that unconditional love.
With her death he became a more dangerous man than he had ever been. He is a man of pure purpose. All that matters Is the goal, without any mundane considerations like survival.
About that lighting you mentioned. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I see John Wick chapter 3 in your future
your excitement for Jimmy is a faking mood🤣 love jimmy
3:25 I understood what you meant by the martini being water lol. if it's beer, it might be apple juice too lol
That Was A Good Reaction CLARISS
Awww...
You edited out the Sommelier scene, it's one of my favourites in the John Wick film series..
* sad face *
Sorry it was due to copyright you know
But if it means anything I ALSO LOVED THE SOMMELIER SCENE! I think it was absolutely brilliant!
I totally understand.....
Sometimes the copyright is just too restrictive..
Many thanks for such a great review..
Heyo! Writer here -- I ask actor friends this kind of question a lot, I think it's a fun prompt:
Clariss, what kind of character in the John Wick universe would you want to play?
That level of detail you are talking about is done very well, found out later that both times John puts a new magazine into a Kimber 1911 he does a press check to make sure it didn’t jam. Kimbers are notorious for jamming on the first bullet of a magazine. He doesn’t do this with the Glock. 16:48
Your reaction to the pencil was priceless ❤
Love your edit style! So entertaining. Really enjoy your reactions.
Not the point but loving your hair
Thank you so much!! 😊
Buckle up for #3...
The little panic of "john. Johnnnn. JOHNNNNNNNN!!!!!"
He trained with

When John is fighting professionals you should have noticed him shooting them once or twice in the chest or groin and then once to the head. Groin shot and head shot to get around the body armor most are wearing.
Yay! Onwards to Chapter 3! Much love girl ❤️
Thank you for showing the cat
You’re Really gonna enjoy chapter three!
When you asked how is he gonna get out of this, oh you'll find out in the 3rd chapter. I don't know if you take any movie reaction request, but if you do, I'd love to see you react to Kingsman the secret service.
Great reaction, just remember that Keanu does most of his own stunts in these movies and did extensive firearms training as well.
Enjoy John wick 3 awesome 👌
Talk about a Boss. Ian stopping the entire park was insane. Additionally, the casting director for these movies needs a raise no matter what they make.
Most impressive scene for me is the mirror fight scenes i can't even see the reflection of the camera, must be a hard shoot for them with all the pans and angles
"But they killed Perkins", yeah, but they didn't like Perkins.
So happy you are into this series, the third film is actually my favourite.
Great video 👌👌
A lot to catch up.
Lighting is great 👍.
I love the amount of world building in these films lol
"John!!! But your Dog John!!!" 😂😂😂
Love it queen you are doing good please keep that beautiful smile and energy going 💕!!!
I wanna see Common come back as Cassius in one of either the 4th or 5th movie they're working on
Well, they didn't show us the "original" bar fight where he killed three men with a pencil.
Your reaction is amazing. Can't wait for you to react to part 3
Keanu did a lot of training with Taran Tactical, and I believe he may have had some input on the choreography. Be sure to check out Lena Miculek as well!
Awesome reaction:)
17:07 You gotta watch Keanu's behind the scenes training for John Wick.
The music is very underrated in these films
This one is great
7:54, hell at that high of stakes I'm using all six.
You had to love the pencil fight.we all did 😂
ok now you need to see Part 3!
Again, poor John could've avoided s lot of this mess if they would just talk to him..
My favorite part was Arilio going over the damage to the car... 🤣
You're reactions and micro-expressions are the best. Your eyes are so animated 👍
"It's not as cute as Daisy, but it's a cute dog." Daisy was specifically chosen to be the cutest dog possible in order to better "serve her purpose" in the narrative, so I guess that's not a surprise... 🥺🐶🥺
There are videos on Keanu training on the shooting range, quite impressive 😄
I missed it live !!!!! But we’ll done !!
There is a video of the extensive gun training Keanu did for this role.
Thank you so much! I sincerely appreciate that so much! Happy to have your support and I hope you have a lovely day!
3 will blow your mind!
Helen didn't know he did the impossible task to get out of the life for her!
A "mirror based" action sequence you should see is the Bruce Lee classic "Enter The Dragon".
I wonder how many people caught Winston's account number is 11111. He is the first account from it seems.
I still haven't figured out what was the task that John had to pull off with Santino's help, they just referenced it here but never was it revealed. Would love to know what was the task and how many bodies did John burn in that task
You'll love JW3 too
You asked why they didn't double tap? They weren't trying to kill John, just nudge him towards following up on the marker responsibility.
