    Hi, Great video & efforts but could you kindly enlighten us with few points as i m interested in using PT slab for a huge basement but ehile doung some research i got to learn that the LIFE SPAN OF PT SLAB IS JUST 15-20 YEARS and are failing at a much higher rate.
    and it requires highly specialized labour & machinery.
    The design calculations are more complex
    Structural elements are susceptible to corrosion.
    The cost of this construction system is higher, due to the fact that the anchors are unrecoverable & that the reinforcement bars need to be inserted correctly inside the conduits
    Also Extreme attention is required during the installation of the reinforcement anchors and their coating.
    However, the prestressed construction system when using post-tensioned concrete is significantly more complicated than using standard reinforced concrete, so usually the profit by gained by saving material costs tends to be minimized by the requirement of using specialized equipment.
    Post tension slabs are strong because of the cables inside of them. *When one or more of those cables fails* due to damage, they aren't as strong as they once were. This can cause slab or structure failure that can cost an obscene amount of money to repair, and it can be dangerous

    • @BasicsofCivilEngineering
      @BasicsofCivilEngineering  4 года назад +3

      So Rishank, if you refer both the video (Part 1 & Part 2) on PT slab , you will come know that the procedure of PT slab is quite long & it suitable for Large slab (Where heavy Reinforcement is used & having good sizes beams). for normal slab, we have less area, low area pour of casting, beams sizes are less & most importantly we have to maintain our speed of construction .
      Hope this is clear to you !
