Marty Raybon said it best at the CMA awards in 1995. "GOD reached down and touched her vocal chords". She is, by far, the most BEAUTIFUL girl I have ever met in real life or have seen on t.v. Her voice is unmatched, and I am still madly in love with her. The Alison in this video is the one I fell in love with. She can change her hair or anything else she wants. She's still a perfect "ANGEL" in my eyes. I love you, Alison. Always.

Do like my dad did, get them listening to it at the earliest age possible and when they’re old enough (but not “too” old, maybe like 7-8ish) get them a bluegrass instrument/instruction. With bluegrass, the younger you start listening/playing, the more you love it/the better a player you’ll be. I thank God every day that my dad did that for me, especially when I’m having a blast pickin’ in some jams! I was playing with toy cars in the sand at my parents’ feet during Alison’s shows every year in Delonega, GA back when she was a lil chunky, way before i was old enough to start playing. I was little enough that i screamed/cried when they tried to give me to her for a picture, i was so used to seeing people go crazy over her, she might as well have been a monster to me at that age. My mom eventually just held me and stood beside her for a picture. But that early exposure makes the difference for sure!

Every so often you see or hear a talent for the first time and say "wow, what a talent. Stardom is coming." And you remember the moment. That's what I thought years ago when she released this song.

I like the change in Biil Monroe's face.
At the beginning his look is doubtful, what these jeanswearing young people are doing, but when that angels starts singing, it turns into a smile.

This was the song that hooked me on this fine, super-talented lady. That was many years ago and she's added so much pleasure to my life, since.
    When I'm dead
    And heaven bound
    This, I'll have to say;
    If the angels don't sing
    Like Allison Krauss,
    I'll not want to stay!

    Lyrics :
Steel rails, chasing sunshine round the bend
Winding through the trees, like a ribbon in the wind
I don't mind not knowing what lies down the track
Cause I'm Looking out ahead, to keep my mind from turning back
It's not the first time I've found myself alone and known
If I really had you once, then I'd have you when I'm gone
Whistle blows, blowin' lonesome in my mind
Calling me along that never ending metal line
Steel rails, chasing sunshine round the bend
Winding through the trees, like a ribbon in the wind
I don't mind not knowing what lies down the track
Cause I'm Looking out ahead, to keep my mind from turning back
Sun is shining, through the open boxcar door
Lying in my mind with the things I've known before
I've lost count of the hours, days, and nights
The rhythm of the rails keeps the motion in my mind
Steel rails, chasing sunshine round the bend
winding through the trees, like a ribbon in the wind
I don't mind not knowing what lies down the track
Cause I'm Looking out ahead, to keep my mind from turning back
Cause I'm Looking out ahead, to keep my mind from turning back

Thanks for sharing! Just a couple of mini corrections:
      - It's not the first time I've found myself alone *at dawn*
      - I've lost count of the hours, days, and *time*
Alison likely misheard an old recording as the original line is:
      - Blinding my mind to the things I've known before

Didn't they know they need to destroy their vocal chords by screaming into the microphones in order to be successful? Not when you're harmonies are so tight they squeak like this! Awesome is an overused word these days that should be reserved for Alison Krauss & Union Station.

    • @umphreak9999
      @umphreak9999 3 года назад

C'mon now, Alison has the voice of an angel but that doesnt negate the value of metal/screamo singing. Different strokes for different folks/moods and there's plenty of technique that goes into both (try screaming with no technique, you'll be voiceless in a week)
