- Doctor Who's lead character has a much more interesting past than the show has ever really let on...

I gotta say this is a good example of adding backstory to the Doctor, its not changing anything but just giving more(not too much) details about the doctors past
Now exploring THIS would be my Timeless Child if I was in-charge of Doctor Who (tho I would still make things mysterious)
I agree
It really is sad the Doctor had such faith in the DECA and yet a good amount of them ended up turning on him and becoming enemies 😔 Such is the sad reality and cost of being The Doctor
Honestly, I’m getting Marauders vibes from Harry Potter. They’re group we hear bits and pieces about from their days as rebellious students before the canon, and we later meet members after they’ve split. I love these sorts of things.
Half of DECA became renegades and only one renegade fought for the benefit of the universe
There's a book by Barry Letts and Terrance Dicks that has the young Doctor and young Master in a pop band together. The Master played...the drums.
I've been speculating that part of the 2nd 60th specials we haven't seen much from, is an adaptation of the flashbacks of Divided Loyalties. The 14th will explain to Donna where he first met the Toymaker and someone will get to play a Young Bill Hartnell, Young Ushas, Young Koschie, etc.
god that would be amazing
Thank you for covering this (Prydonian) chapter of the Doctor's life. Divided Loyalties has always been in my top five DW novels re-reads...
If this was made as a spinoff show I'd be so down. RTD, make this happen!
I would be down for a show all about the Doctor's childhood on Gallifrey with the Deca.
Great video Harbo I love lore like this in Doctor Who especially in a show like doctor who where none of this is shown or really ever spoken about it's all in the extended universe such as Big Finish, comics and books but the small bits of information we do get in the show like the doctor saying he was a dad once and Clara comforting the 1st Doctor as a child in the barn just teasing you with enough information about the characters past without strictly revealing everything such as their origin story (yes timeless child we are looking at you)
Gotta love some obscure lore ^_^
Okay, so for new viewers (which I assume this is aimed for), Deca is really obscure stuff that came to popularity because on a wiki page, everything looks equally important. When Harry Potter was at its peak, some Who fans wrote fanfics based off of the couple mentions of Deca in a novel. Deca isn't 'Doctor Who proper', its history and reputation is based almost entirely on a wiki page, and it's really not as interesting as it sounds.
Ok, this was not what I was expecting from “forgotten” past… glad you didn’t mention the timeless child 😅
I like all these lore videos that are more classic who based. I’m only starting to watch classic who so being able to learn about things like this may help when watching :D
Even if they are random and not needed
Love this video, you did a great job!
The more we know, the less mystery there is. This all has the same problem we get in Star Wars. Everyone is connected, making the universe a much smaller place
Maybe these events might get mentioned in the 60th with the Celestial Toymaker.
When I first discovered 20th century WHO in 1985, I guessed there had to be a backstory but I wasn't too concerned with what it was. Now, though...would like to know more. A LOT more.
Am I the only one getting Marauders vibes (from Harry Potter)? They’re group we hear bits and pieces about from their days as rebellious students before the canon, and we later meet members after they’ve split. Sure, there are clear differences, but it’s still cool to think about.
this is so so interesting! thank you for the research harbo
so cool mate, nice one, gonna show this to all my mates
Great lore video
I wonder if RTD had plans to include the DECA in his original intention for SJA which was about the Doctor's life at the Academy
sounds more believable than the timeless chidl tbh
My favorite detail is how none of these characters know each other when they meet in the show, its almost like this doesn't make any sense
The dodgy make up brigade 😂🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷
I never knew this, wow!
You see, this is the history we like! Not the nonsense about the Timeless Child, real stuff established in lore.
i love your channel harbo
The Corsair wasn't one of them?
You forgot about the Timeless Child.
Didn’t know the monk was an incel, that’s cool
I am infertile from eating scented candles
You should be eating my new Candyls instead (Functional edible candy candles)
If you eat unscented ones will you become fertile again?
bad day?
Damn, sucks man
The Doctor was the original sigma
Shame no mention of lungbarrow
RUclipsrs never look like their voice
Was it confirmed in the show that The Monk wasn't The Master?
They are 2 different timelords.
@@marionbaggins Hi, was it confirmed in the show that they are 2 different timelords?
@@smkfet no other media.
I've always loved the idea of the Deca and really wish it would be acknowledged by the show.
🍦
In the brain of the morbuis we saw the Doctors in his past before he was the hartnell doctor.
6:44 for you
