    Just bought a 2024 2500hd Duramax. Yes there was so many options that just made me feel like it wouldn’t be a work truck.
    Went with basic floors, cloth interior and no fancy tailgate. I am beyond happy with my decision.

    Been watching your videos on the 6.6 over last couple months. Very to the point, nice comparisons. We upgraded our camper from roughly 6800 lbs to now 9000 lbs, which was just over max tow with our 1500 Custom. Helped convinced us to pull the trigger just today on a 2024 Silverado LT Red 2500 HD. Was leaning towards the Custom, but got the LT at $5000 off MSRP, couldn't pass it up.

    Very great video tour! I always thought the Customs toned the look of the new Silverado HDs way better and it sure does with the 2024, I’m considering buying one for myself albeit in a DCLB version that’s almost identical to your setup. I prefer simplicity and really don’t even need the newer bigger touchscreen since that’s more stuff to break and I like the more analog approach on the dash vs digital. This trim definitely has the looks to match it’s price best of both worlds IMHO.

    Just got my new truck yesterday. I have owned several gas engine 3/4 ton trucks as well as diesels. I traded my 2022 Duramax 3500HD for the 2024 GAS 6.6 3500HD. I haven't hooked this truck up to our fifth wheel yet but I have pulled it with the duramax as well as a previous 2021 6.6 gas 6-speed. Our trailer weighs right at 12,000lbs and even the old 6-speed was good enough but I believe the 10-speed with really wake it up. Congrats on the new truck!

    I want to give you kudos for paying $60 grand for a pickup that you will actually use for what it was designed to do. There is an area a few miles out of were we live that is full of $60 grand new 1500 pickups that are parked in front of run down single wide trailers. There financing them for ten years and still wind up with $1000 dollar monthly payments because of bad credit. Not only are they paying 60 grand for trucks that should be high 30s to low 40s depending on trim but they are paying more for their truck than there home! Just to be cool! Lol! Its amazing that for almost the same price your getting so much more in your truck. Your getting a 2500 plus all the creature comforts and you actually have a need for one. Around here you will find 4 year old trucks with zero scratches or any sign of wear in the beds. Youll also find a plethora of 4x4s that have never even been off road there entire life. I doubt they ever even engaged the transfer case! Lol! Its just silly! I say this because of people like ive mentioned the manufacturers have taken notice and have been taking advantage of it. We now have people who will actually almost go into bankruptcy just to own a pickup they cant afford just so they can own a pickup. The inflated prices reflect this! Because of this people who actually need and use a pickup are forced to pay the ridiculous inflated prices!

      This is too relatable to what I see around where I live too. I used to have a very well taken care of 97 Chevy, loved that truck. Very good year for paint though, held up great to me off-roading. I used it for firewood and different things over the years, held up well. When I went to sell it, the guy looked at the bed and asked what it got the scratches from. Looked a lot different from the body as far as any abuse. I told him it was because I used it like a truck. He paused, looked at me, and then chuckled and said, “well that makes sense”. He realized he actually asked a pretty funny question when he thought about it.

Love to hear how it goes. We are doing some pulling this weekend with it, so be Able to say how it is with the gasser. I did am extensive video on the 24 l5p if you are looking diesel, it's a game changer what they did with that in regards to how it's going to handle emissions and efficiency . This truck I did get at autonation chevrolet in westminster, that was because they discounted it 5k, but if I was ordering, I'd go with foundation to get that warranty.

    I feel what Chevy did with the Custom trim is very much like Ram a,d the Express trim on the Gen 4 1500s. They give you a great looking truck on the outside a more working truck on the inside with some nice upgrades. I’m curious to see how the 2500 with 6.6 gasser performs. I am looking for a replacement to my 2017 Ram 1500, and I am leaning towards a gas 3/4 ton over a diesel.

    I have been watching your videos a lot as I have been in the market to research a new truck for my lawn mowing business. I actually ordered a new 24 2500 Gasser from Chevy which will be here any day now in November. Had a question for you. Can you put 85 octane in this truck or do you have to put '87 in it? I know obviously not E-85 with a crap ton of ethanol gas but wondered about if regular 85 with no more than 10% ethanol would work?

    • @automotiveinquiries9673
      @automotiveinquiries9673  8 месяцев назад +1

      I did try 85 in the truck, so you technically could. I didn't notice much if any difference from 87. Even 91 didn't change much. You are correct, no E85, but ethanol free or 85 and up you are OK. Thanks for watching

    I am interested in how this rides unloaded. I realise it's a HD truck, We will be towing 8 or 9k pounds with a tongue weight of 300 to 400 lbs one direction moving from California to Michigan, then back to California empty for another load. The older 3/4 tons rode terrible empty. About the looks of the newer Chevrolet trucks, They are growing on me. Maybe some of us need to look in a mirror before we criiticize the looks of the truck. I just joined your channel. Loving it.

    • @automotiveinquiries9673
      @automotiveinquiries9673  Год назад +3

      Thanks for joining, I agree I've always wanted my car to turn heads, the chevy does that and after looking at the 23 ford's, I like the 22s better, so this truck to me looks even better than the 23 chevy and I liked the one. So far, this truck is quieter than the ford inside and this is a more base truck. Ride is also really nice, but hit a large enough run in the road and it will remind you it's a truck. I have two other videos where I brought two different kind of drivers in to check these out my ford and this kne and both said the chevy rode better, I agree and this is on 20s with z71 and unloaded. I feel it will get even smoother when loaded. This truck really is a dream to drive. So quiet inside that you can hear a whisper.

    • @automotiveinquiries9673
      @automotiveinquiries9673  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks, I appreciate that. I think the 6.6 gas would do great with thay size of 5er. In the battle of the plains it did great with 17k 40 foot 5er. These new diesels just aren't returning the value that they uses to and the gas trucks are really great now. And by value I mean mpgs arent what they used to be and fuel.here is a buck more for diesel. I didn't have any issues getting gas vs. diesel at fuel stops, and now thay the gas has the allison, it was really good at grade braking. No more regens, no def and idle it without concern of plugging up the dpf, I would absolutely lean towards gas. I'll you were over 18k on the trailer, plus gear, then diesel may be the better option

    nice truck brother! i just bought a '24 2500 lt silverado with buckets and a counsel gas and a 10 speed. just got rid of a ford and i have to say chevrolet has a much nicer interior over ford, i personally thing they ride better and handle better too. i got the new dash setup in my truck and love it. hands down the camera system is the cats ass, picture is extremely clear especially with the big screen they put in it. msrp on my truck was about 64,500$ and i couldn't be happier. the only 2 things i wanted but couldn't get was the multi pro/flex tailgate and the glacier blue metallic paint unless i stepped up to the diesel option based on what they had on the lot available. sofar my best mpg highway was 15.8 no trailer, i seem to average about 13-14 highway. please keep us informed on mpgs towing and not towing im just curious.

    Just wanted to say I really appreciate the content you put out man. Real life use, info and comparisons. While it may be cool watching others pull a 16,000 lb cattle trailer up the ike gauntlet at 11,000 ft altitude, it doesnt help me understand how a truck will work in the real world.
    Really lookin forward to your upcoming towing comparison of new 6.6 GM vs the 7.3 General. Interested to see if the towing experience is only marginally different and expected due to the different engine sizes or if there really is a huge leap going from one to the other. Curious if the outcome is “choose only 7.3 if going with gas or just go diesel” or if its more of “choose any flavor (Ford, GM, Ram) of gasser you like, or diesel” as the gassers all pull relatively the same. Thanks again!

      Last year i was in the market for a 2500/3500 duramax, but wasnt willing to pay the MSRP+ 5-10K dealer markups. Ended up getting lucky and got a great deal on a 2500 LTZ 6.6 gasser with the 6 spd. I figured it was a good placeholder for a while and Id use the equity on it to get a duramax when the market settled down… but I have to say, the gasser has been a pleasant surprise. Great daily driver, and pulls our 34 ft trailer (8-9K lbs) just fine through the hills and mountains of the pacific northwest. Was trying to get a duramax in case we upgraded to larger trailer in the future, but man this gasser has been impressive for our current setup. Real curious to see what you think of it paired with the new 10spd compared to the 7.3.

      @ShaneMosier-fb8dq so far as daily driving its a game changer over the 6spd. Smooth and always right on the right throttle band. Plus the allison has always been know to grade shift brake. By no means saying anything bad about the 6spd, but I'm blown away how this is daily driving as my zilla. This weekend will be fun towing and seeing. Where we are doing this several steep grades.

    @matthewanderson9912 Год назад +4

    Awesome truck. You got the best color too but I’m biased lol. I’m just going to list my thoughts to make it easier.
    1) the carry over interior is not nearly as bad as people on the internet let on. It’s very easy to use. And as a bonus you got 12 volt outlets. The refresh does not.
    2) I’m pretty sure you got wireless Apple car play. I’ve read that on the window stickers of other Customs and it says it in the standard equipment part of the sticker. That is awesome too because before you had to get the Convenience 2 package on an LT to get it.
    3) your GVWR and GCWR is higher than on my 2022. They increased the GVWR by 200 pounds and it looks like the GCWR by 2000 pounds. That was previously limited by the 6L90 6 speed to 24,000 GCWR. And because of that your towing capacity is up too which is nice. Mine is 14,500 bumper pull and 16,620 fifth wheel. With yours being 18,400 fifth wheel now that’s only 100 pounds less than a standard 2500 diesel. That’s crazy but goes to show GMs confidence in the 6.6 gas and the 10 speed. Because like I said, 2020-2023 the 6 speed was the limiting factor for the GCWR being capped at 24,000, regardless of 2500 or 3500 truck.
    4) I also noticed your payload is a little lower than my 2022 LT. Mine is 3517. I would bet a lot of that has to do with the Allison. I’m sure it’s heavier but it would appear there’s some more weight somewhere else. Maybe in the added safety tech because my truck does not have forward collision alert or blind zone monitoring.
    I’m really looking forward to seeing videos of this. I just know the 10 speed is going to make all the difference in towing a steep grade. Watching your videos is going to make me want to trade because you got the color I’d definitely get. And with the added available options on the Custom I would not be opposed to one. I’d miss the heated seats, fog lights and sliding window my truck has but your truck has everything else and a few things I don’t.

      I’m excited to see some real world testing with this 10 speed. I know what the 6 speed does and I know based off the gearing of the 10 it’s going to be a big improvement.

    One thing I think you should keep in mind is that this is a 2024 Chevy and your Ford is a 2022. As you well know there were several changes made this year for the Ford Super Duty some I like some I dont but so be it. I really wish I wasnt so far away I would meet up and we could test the new 7.3 and the old as well as your new 6.6

    • @automotiveinquiries9673
      @automotiveinquiries9673  Год назад +2

      True the 7.3 did get a bump in power and tow ratings, gears...but it's the best we'll get, one things for sure if the Chevy even competes that will be a sure testament. The ford interior I have competes more with the 24 gm I bought, bit this is about ability for me, according to the power numbers the chevy shouldn't be close, but after driving it the last few days I must say no one should be disappointed. It would be groovy if you were closer. Maybe I'll get out that way sometime.

I do think this year Ford really tried to improve some of the things you pointed out in the video that your Chevy has a leg up on. Not saying they did it right but they tried. Still looking forward to your verdict over the next little while on the comparison. In the end I really wonder what the longevity of that 6.6 is going to be I have nearly 50k tried and true tested miles with the 7.3 between my 2 trucks. Yeah, I really did want that new interior, but for the channel I just needed the 6.6 and the allison...and the factory puck...what I'm finding is most dealers aren't ordering the factory 5th wheel prep with the gas for 24. I also don't know what the long term plan is with the custom and the interior. If they keep the package and update the interior or they keep it the same moving forward or drop it. Since you can order the custom 20 wheels on the lt 3500, it basically looks like the custom but get the new interior. Have the Ike gauntlet pull coming up this week.

Red is not a big seller as they say 1 in a 100 is a red buyer. As for package, the custom isn't (although it should be) as popular. It is a less equipped truck than a lathered put one.

Which allows you to find your vehicle, check vehicle health, schedule service or roadside help...lock..unlock..and start from anywhere your phone has service. Gm gives you a trial period anywhere from 6 months to a year, after that you'll pay a monthly charge, anywhere from 10 to 20 bucks a month (so I've heard) to keep the features in the phone app.
