Yoshi! My fav Japanese player, into yet another ATP final.
It's only when you see the massive difference in size between Nishi and most other players that you realise what a special talent he is.
I hope he wins the final!
Reminiscent of Michael Chang when he beat players over six feet to win Roland Garros in 1989. Michael Chang beat Pete Sampras 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 in the second round of Roland Garros. He then beat Lendl, and then Stefan Edberg in the final. Michael Chang inspired many Asian people to take up tennis and believe they have a chance to win no matter their size.
Okay, but Rinderkneck's size is also detrimental. Look how clumsily he moves on the court, he is simply too tall and large.
@@jamiezenichi1017 Michael Chang is actually taller than Yoshi. Chang listed at 5'9 while Nishioka only listed at 5'7
@@Thrilla4romManila Michael Chang was 5'8" in 1989 when he was 17 years old; he grew an inch. Nonetheless, the point is that they are both much shorter than the average male tennis player and that can present certain unique challenges such as a weaker first serve.
@@jamiezenichi1017tbh nishioka has it harder cause the average height in ATP increased compared to the 90s, Sampras was tall but not a giant
Let's go Yoshi!🇯🇵
Yoshi, Yoshi, Yoshi, Yoshi!!!
❤🎉
at the end shaking hands the german dude looked like his dad picking him up from Pre-Kindergarten
He's french...@@AJ-iu6nw
spoiler😂😅
@@AJ-iu6nwRinderknech is french :) His name is surely of German heritage though!
西岡まじでがんばれ
Good to see Nishioka back in a final after a rough beginning and middle season.
i thought he retired already?
I'm happy for Yoshi and I hope he wins tomorrow against that Aussie m8.
He does have a 4-0 h2h against Thompson, but that's a little bit misleading as 3 of those matches were played more than 5 years ago, when Thompson was a shade of the player he is now.
Watching Nishioka on hard courts always fun
Want to see Juncheng Shang and Nishioka do better so this is nice to see a run like this
Jordan Thompson is having one hell of a season this year
He is trash in rallies, not faced a worthy opponent in the tournament
@@ashishverma8643 this tournament isn’t the whole season. I also think rallies are his strong suit as he doesn’t have power. This season alone he’s beaten
Davidovich Fokina
Taylor Fritz
Holger Rune
Casper Ruud
Alex Zverev (who he also beat last October too)
Dan Evans
Rafael Nadal
Ugo Humbert
While also winning a handful of doubles titles, and also making the doubles Wimbledon final. He is objectively having one hell of a season
He cost me a Chance at $3k by not winning a set agaisnt nikashima at Wimbledon. Last leg for $3k. He picks and chooses when he wants to play good
@@JayA-ly5kn nah man he didn’t cost you a chance at losing $3k, you just lost $3k. If you are gonna bet on sports you can’t be mad at the other person when they lose. He didn’t spend your money, you did
@Yotteth I watched the who match you clown he wasn't intrested. Didn't have the energy. He did lose me a chance at $3k from a $10 bet. He obviously only wanted the first round payment and that's it but now he decides to play good and be in a final
Nishioka's best match of this year!
His name is Shang, remember that name he’s on his way up
@@carolinegardner8214 he's just a little boy tho
Good win for Thompson! Shang is playing top 20 tennis.
TOP 50 for sure
Top 100 lol
by today's standard top 20 without injury, top 50 with back injury. only top 100 during Big 3 Golden Age
@@chentye4494 top 500 lol
Great game by Yoshihito. 👍😍
Soo nice to see little great Nishi....
前に出るタイミング、毎回良すぎるな
西岡勝てる!ファイト!
shang is a bit of a showman, i like it
Thompson not in Paris? But Ebden playing singles and getting shown the door immediately haha
170センチなのにすごすぎる
Not she's he's!
C'mon yoshi. !
The scores of both matches look almost identical. Hoped to see Nishi vs. Shang in an all Asian final, oh well.
Shang is playing well tho👊🏻
come on‼️yoshi🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🗾🗾🗾
LEEEEEEEEEEEET'S GOOOOOOOOOOO YOSHIIIIIIIIIIIIII
まじ西岡ありがとう
another great battle !!!!!
니시오카 파이또 🎉🎉
6:57 ¿Es Jordan Thompson en la tribuna viendo a su posible rival en la final? 🤔
Jawohl Thompson 😊👍
Go Asia!!
凄い身長差😮
No Nishioka vs Shang 😐
Shang injured his back and he wasn't the same player as the match against Shelton
Nishioka just hangs in there, returning balls, defending and only occasionally playing aggressively. It was good enough out there. That hard court looks slow. It's possible to win by playing defense.
shang is the real deal from asia, not nishikori. let him get some muscles and more importantly stamina, this kid will go very very far in the future. 100% to become the best player from asia for sure. was outplaying thompson left and right, was only tired thats why he lost. thompson didnt win it... big difference.
wish thompson would just hit the ball a little harder
IT SAD KNOWING THAT I CANT PLAY THIS FUCKIN SPORT
Come on, Jordan!
It is interesting that some players choose to play ATP250 instead of the Olympics. Or Maybe they didn’t qualify?
He's TWO feet shorter- GET IT!
西岡いけるぞ
Shang will not be in the jjoo??
西岡まじ行けるぞ
西岡がんばれ
西岡いったれ!
Yeah!
250の割に観客多くね?
良いことだけどな
@@nao.p3404 うれしいよ☺️
I was hoping for 2 asian players in the final..
Me too😂
If only the best in the world, Holger Rune himself, was in the Paris Olympics, just as he had had success there before... People would realize.😎
😂
🤣
Keep dreaming buddy, go support soccer.... your favourite, PSG wannabe.
Ikuzo, Yoshi!!!!!!!
Why did Yoshihito not go to the Olympics?
His ranking was 103😢
Not enough Olympic entry rankings.
That's a shame, he's probably better than Nishikori or Taro Daniels
Shang should have won it. He is a better hitter but he just can't seem to handle Jordan's tricky shots.
I am sure he will learn. You rarely encounter someone like Thompson at that level
he had a back injury, his serve wasn't even close to 80%
西岡優勝まで行こうぜ
Wha wha wha wha !
シャンが勝ってたらツアーでアジア人同士が決勝でぶつかってたのかー
西岡決勝頑張れ!
Jawohl Djokovic 😊👍
Roc cooked in the
Is Nishioka copying Nadal style of having huge top spin with his forehand?
Nishioka always playing like that
@jamescordennnnn "In an interview promoting the ATP Cup, the Japanese player Yoshihito Nishioka spoke about his childhood idols. He said: "When I was a kid, I was looking for Rafael Nadal, because I’m a lefty. He’s a lefty, and he was my hero." Nadal already won french open 20 years ago when nishioka was a kid.
@@jackjhmc820 The fact is that Nadal is not a natural lefty, he was a righty haha
ヨッシー、アレしてくれ!!
Shang was tired else he would have won this match. He was passive most of the match.
He was injured in the lower back. He got treatment already in the first set.
@@AlejandroPikoulasPlata I didn't know about that. Thanks
Mistake in Rinderknech name omg guys
rinderKNECK lmao
knick knack!
Thompson should win this but it may be tough.
ah yes rinderneck
not quite as good as rinderankle imo
Go Thommington!
Shang literally just choked. He is not ready at all to move on to next stage at this time.
He's still fresh on the tour, Thompson knows how to manage a full match and not waste his energy. Shang has amazing skills, I can see a bright future for him especially if he works on getting some muscles. He's quite explosive, change directions easily, play with interesting variations, very low on his legs sometimes, smart player.
@@iansmirna5183 has been full time pro for about 3 years now he should know better. he has the talent and the team but idk about the maturity yet - at 3-3 third set, and breakpoint to go up, he had a shot all he had to do was LOB over jordan but he tried to be cute and drove the ball like 10 feet out.
@@samisfun868 the kid is literally 19 years old. what are you even on about lmao
He was injured in the lower back, he got treatment already in the first set.
@@imsinn3d ???? carlos won his first slam at 19???? what are YOU even on about rofl???
I am very proud of Nishioka. How unfair is it for people of small size to play against giants? Divisions are needed in tennis too.
and what about basketball and football, tennis is a sport more suited for high people. 30 years ago you had 1.75 and 1.80 people win slams, time moving and people getting higher
No way, tennis is awesome to allow these sort of matchs ups...it works both ways though, really tall and really short players both have natural weaknesses, tennis kinda requires a height in-between for the best overall success..
He won tho lol
Dude, he won.😂
We don’t need divisions, just get rid of the first serve. Makes the game so slow with so much nothing, and gives a massive height advantage for no reason. Tennis needs 1 serve, like every other serving sport.
I’m sure some of these people could be at the Olympics, representing their countries. Is the Olympics overly politicized? Yes. Does it mean much without every country being allowed to fully participate? Not as much as it used to, no. But it’s still a matter of being patriotic, having national pride, and wearing your flag for the world to see. I’d consider it every man and woman’s duty to do what they could to show up, even if they don’t end up being selected as opposed to willingly choosing not to show up (looking at you Shelton, Korda, and Tiafoe).
Eh who cares about patriotism
@@TraeBeneck You can go live on a desert island any time you want. But if you decide to remain a citizen of whatever country you’re from, you would do well to have some national pride, to care about your homeland and respect it and recognize it as a part of your identity. If this isn’t you, then you should move somewhere else that does make you feel proud.
The Olympics are a pale shadow of what they once were.
You only have to look at the bizarre opening ceremonies of recent years to realise that something very sinister has taken root.
I don't blame athletes for choosing not to go, when they've got their professional careers to consider.
@@gedofgont1006 Oh I know it’s bad. The overt politicization of what should be a peaceful sporting event to promote peace and worldwide camaraderie started long ago, like in 1980 when the US boycotted the Moscow games. And I agree that the opening ceremony was…well it was embarrassing, let’s be frank about it🤦🏻♂️ And I mean, if all countries can’t fully participate because they’re being discriminated against (RUS/BEL athletes who have nothing to do with the horrible games their political leaders are playing), is it really a fair competition? But still, it’s a matter of patriotism. If you’re a citizen and a pro athlete, in my opinion it’s your duty to show up, even if the games are most definitely not what they used to be in terms of meaning.
@@gedofgont1006 True, so much dark symbolism and mockery in the opening ceremony, just like 2012 in London. I fully support every athlete in not taking part in this s!itshow. On tht other hand i understand every athlete who wants to take part.
西岡キモいけど、優勝しそうな勢いだな
