  • "Monos" is simply a pure cinematic experience from start to finish.
Synopsis: On a faraway mountaintop, eight teenaged guerillas with guns watch over a hostage and a conscripted milk cow. Playing games and initiating cult-like rituals, the children run amok in the jungle.
Points of order: Martin Scorsese on modern cinema vs "theme park rides" www.nytimes.co...

First of all, great analysis of Monos. You touched upon some things that I had not thought of while watching it (I'll borrow some of that for my review). Second of all, your delivery and editing is on par with channels that have hundreds of thousands of subscribers. I know Numbers is not the most important thing, but I just wanted to mention that I clicked on your video thinking you had this huge channel. This was one of the best "video essays" I have seen and I really hope you can grow your channel, because we need more quality content like this on the platform. Subscribed.

Great video. I hope more people experience this film. 2 other great films that flew under people’s radar is Luz and Long Days Journey into Night. Luz is a student/debut feature with incredible throwback cinematography and sound design. It has a lot of crazy moments that I won’t forget. Available on shudder. And Long Days Journey into Night was a technical achievement along with being one of the most hypnotic, surreal experiences of the year. It absolutely deserves to be seem multiple times. I highly recommend both.

Thanks for watching! I haven't seen Luz yet, but I'll definitely make that a priority. "Long Day's Journey Into Night" was one of the most unique and memorable experiences I had with a movie last year, and I can't really lock down exactly how I feel about the film. I'll be revisiting that one soon though. Thanks again for watching, it means a lot!

This was one of the most visceral movies I ever saw.. the detail and immersion into the environment coupled with music and cinematography was so masterful.. I felt like I was experiencing more than just viewing the movie with my eyes.
Monos + Last Black Man in San Francisco were my favs of 2019 and I hope in years to come more people talk about them :-(!!

Wow, watching this video made me remember a review of Monos that I read in my local newspaper. You made me really curious to see if it's still in theatres.

This is superb commentary. And, gawd, Monos is a gorgeous, unsettling, heart wrenching - just incredible - film. I was blown away by it. Highly recommend.

And Mica Levi's soundtrack is brilliant. Brilliant. I didn't know until after watching that she'd done it. It hit me after watching how good the music and sound were - plus never intrusive, distracting, or overbearing - then to find out afterwards that it was Mica, was like wow, of course.

Your editing, writing and voicing could make this channel a Million subs channel, I’m guessing it isn’t your goal, but if it is I might help you with that

I want to watch this film. I can rent it on amazon prime, but there are no subtitles in English. It’s also not dubbed in English. Hopefully one day it will be.

    Bruh... You're content is excellent..
Some advice from an unimportant, uneducated person you'll never know.
You're literally just missing the dedication bud. If your content would have been more consistent 3 years ago , though it may have taken a while , you'd be a full time RUclipsr right now ..
If you are or are doing something else you love! Disregard my not very important comment.
    Awesome videos!

Most great movies don't have a structured story.

    • @teratoma.
      @teratoma. 3 года назад

that wouldn't be an issue if the things that did happen were important, impactful or thought provoking
a lot of the aspects of the movie are mild and bland, with very little contextualization of anything(story, characters, world or otherwise)
it also happens through very long scenes of nothing happening, the first 10 seconds of them rolling in mud shows just as much as the rest of the minute long scene
their "descend" is awkward and rushed(one scene boom boom and bigfoot have a conflict for the girl, the next smurf is snitching, thats the end of both plots btw), their more impactful scenes obvious(e.g. doctora not actually caring about the kids) or comically forcing conflict and presentation of character(e.g. snitching each other)
there are like 4 good scenes in the movie overall, rest would be below average if the movie didnt have amazing visuals and atmosphere
it's making people believe this movie is deeper than it actually is, its overrated
      6/10 at best
