Just off the premise alone, it sounds like a mix of OMAC and that D.A.V.E. enemy from The Batman TV show that is based on criminal brain-patterns of Joker, Riddler and Penguin and such
He was using a Javelin Thruster to gain speed. The grapple gun was just to steer. I'm fine with the space part....and even the re entry. Landing was absurd
I dont doubt that the Board of Things Ben Said That Made His Friends Question Their Friendship exists and at the top of that list is the Doomsday joke from Heroes in Crisis😂😂😂
A cave within a cave. A false personality within a false personality. This episode -like so many on this channel- is an analysis of the anatomy of bad writing.
Superman: Do you have a contingency in case you go bad? Batman: Yes, it's called the Justice League Superman: What if the Justice League goes bad. Batman: That's fine. I have contingency plans to stop them. Superman: .....well wait. If you can stop them how are they the contingency against you? Batman disappears into the shadows
If I had a nickel every time a Chip Zdarsky story kicked off by our hero accidentally/being framed for killing a guy, I'd have two nickels, which isn't much etc etc you know the drill
This honestly felt like one of the most unoriginal Batman stories I u can remember. He just borrowed a bunch of stuff from past stories, some about Batman already, spun them a little, and made this. I wondered why reading this felt like deja Vu, now I realize why.
Honestly if they set it up to end when Superman showed up and the league beat the robot, it would’ve been stellar. A not so crazy but concise tale about the power of allies and trust. It would’ve even solidified Batman believing the league was a valid contingency for him. Honestly I thought it ended at that issue and was confused as fuck when I found there was more.

This is a funny comment, but I feel like, realistically, the actual conversation went more like this: DC: So, Mr. Zdarsky, what new ideas do you have for a Batman storyline? Zdarsky: Well, for my first arc, I was gonna do this fun little storyline where Batman has to fight an evil robot version of himself. I think that would be cool to see- DC: And how does the Evil Robot Batman take over Gotham City? Zdarsky: …ummm…I _guess_ it could do that? I don’t- DC: And then it beats the whole Justice League somehow? Zdarsky: …I mean, _sure?_ I’m not really sure how that would- DC: Great, you’re hired! Good luck on that first arc - then we can talk about the *Gotham War!!* Zdarsky: The what- DC: _snorts cocaine_ *MULTIVERSE!!!!* _drowns in a pile of their own money_

@@Ace-0f-Spadezyeah I think most are fans or at least positive about Damien. Sal doesn’t like him but neither is he that positive on most Morrison stuff, which is obviously not a majority opinion given Morrison is one of the biggest comic writers of the Modern Age. I understand the distaste for Damien as Tim was sort of abandoned and Damien was written literally to be obnoxious and unlikeable.
I'm going to be honest, I actually like the second arc of Zdarsky's run more than this. Edit: 32:49 So, revisiting this episode in prep for the new one, and I actually just remembered that a villain did do this once. It was part of the Outsider saga from the 60's. Alfred was dead, a powerful, mysterious new villain who knew Batman's secret identity had appeared working behind the scenes, etc. In one story, the Outsider took control of Batman's tech and turned it against him. (Then the Outsider turned out to be a resurrected Alfred, something they have an opportunity to bring back now, update that classic story.) And, as suggested here, it was a pretty good story.
I used to work across the street from Boston Dynamics. They would walk their robot dogs in the street between our offices. They're even more disconcerting in person.
I get people rejecting the space thing but a few pages later he goes and meets his solar powered nigh invulnerable friend, so he can help him defeat a robot that an alternate personality he has buried deep in his mind created. So maybe suspend disbelief
36:06 Okay, so Nightwing has inherited money from Alfred. Makes sense but also what kinda of tension exists in the family amongst the other grandkids because of that 🤨? There is no way someone like Jason Todd would just be cool with Dick being the only one to inherit a bunch of capital. Jason was basically Alfred's favorite grandson. Did everyone get a certain denomination of cash or just Dick? To be fair, Dick has arguably been through a lot over the years, and his relationship with Bruce/his siblings, etc. So it's fair if he received a decent portion because of his significant contribution to support his dad. Now that would be a viable reason why Alfred would want to thank Dick for all of his service to the family but still kinda 1 sided. IDK just doesn't sit right 🤷🏼♀️.

Just off the premise alone, it sounds like a mix of OMAC and that D.A.V.E. enemy from The Batman TV show that is based on criminal brain-patterns of Joker, Riddler and Penguin and such
I can't wait for them to cover the follow up story after this
I can't believe that they pulled a Chief and had this man FALL FROM ORBIT
He was using a Javelin Thruster to gain speed. The grapple gun was just to steer.
I'm fine with the space part....and even the re entry. Landing was absurd
I dont doubt that the Board of Things Ben Said That Made His Friends Question Their Friendship exists and at the top of that list is the Doomsday joke from Heroes in Crisis😂😂😂
Woth Patterson's performance in rhe Lighthouse I think he could make batman Zur en Ar work
I always thought Bane was Batman’s Doomsday
He quite literally is
Can't believe nearly 100 Batman videos in the playlist that's crazy
A cave within a cave. A false personality within a false personality. This episode -like so many on this channel- is an analysis of the anatomy of bad writing.
@ 1:15:19 _"But where do you draw the line, Ethan? Do you hate fun?"_
This is the best birthday gift a guy could ask for.
You fool, the concussion only makes me more powerful!
I, 25, have a soft spot for Tim! Mostly from the animated series and Young Justice
Superman: Do you have a contingency in case you go bad?
Batman: Yes, it's called the Justice League
Superman: What if the Justice League goes bad.
Batman: That's fine. I have contingency plans to stop them.
Superman: .....well wait. If you can stop them how are they the contingency against you?
Batman disappears into the shadows
Great episode as always !
If it makes anyone here feel better, I'm 22 and I was hooraying to hell and back with Tim Drake being Robin in this
Man 10 mins in and im already hooked. Great episode guys!
Am I the only one that felt ZurrEnAr Batman is secretly Frank Miller's Batman from All-Star Batman?
8:05 Yeah, Gotham is like...... literally anywhere Mutants and X-Men live.
The average income in Gotham city must have a annual salary of like 120k per year for millionaires not to matter.
Batman falling from space just makes me think the zdarsky played halo 3 before writing it
I remember reading this arc month to month. I did really enjoy this arc(that fall from the moon was absolutely ridiculous though). I fell near the end of the Multiverse arc and then hopped back on after that and now I'm tentatively staying on for Gotham War. We'll see how that goes.
Catwoman screwed the pooch as soon as vandal bought wayne manor lmmfao
The Danny Davito Penguin still gives me nightmares.
I haven't heard Ethan say WHAT?! in disbelief so many times in one video.
Nice job sneaking the follow up volume in the background. I see you
What?
@@comicpop lower right hand of the screen. The Batman of Gotham volume
ohhhhh haha yeah good eye! Sorry, thought you meant like, sound volume.
@@comicpop Now that would have been something
I was so happy to see my boy Tim drake robin finally be used in actual good book because frankly after his terrible robin series which was bad, seeing him in this book written by a good writer which made me so happy that I was so excited to see more of Tim Drake robin and batman Bruce Wayne be great partners and to see what happens next, unfortunately by the end of this failsafe arc thanks to stupid Gotham war it looks like we aren't going to be getting more of Tim drake robin and Batman Bruce Wayne being a team which is just sad and depressing because damn it I like Tim drake robin and I want him to have good stories again not bad stories that people like me don't want to read but that's just my opinion.
Tim Drake has been done dirty since New 52. And when he is written well, it’s very short lived.
@@Okkotsu86275 yeah that's true man this sucks because Tim Drake is the robin a lot of people myself included grew up with and seeing still being written badly by other writers since the new 52 is just sad and depressing at least in my opinion.
@@TevyaSmolka I’m right there with you homie, Tim was not just my favorite but one of my favorite DC character as a whole. Seeing how Tim been treated for the last decade is heartbreaking. I don’t know If the character will fully be able to recover.
@@Okkotsu86275 indeed it's heartbreaking seeing Tim drake robin being treated this badly for this entire decade, because damn it Tim drake robin got me into batman world, and seeing him being treated this badly since the new 52 and still badly till this very day its just wrong and mess up on so many levels it ain't even funny but just sad and depressing to see at least in my opinion. Heck I also I agree I don't know if his character will ever be able to recover at this point but part of me is hoping he does get recovered soon but knowing current DC comics and there track of record as of late I am sadly going to have to accept that isn't going to happen which is the last thing I want to happen because damn It I want to believe in hope again but we shall see if that happens someday in the future but I doubt it at least in my opinion.
Injecting a viral conscious reminds me of the episode of Batman the animated series "His silicon heart"
God I hope you guys cover the follow-up comic. It's gotta be one of my favorite celebrations of everything Batman.
54:54 I love how we suddenly pull a Rick and Morty
Failsafe: "I've done far worse than kill you beedeebeedee"
The one where Batman rides back to earth on scraps of burning metal like Master Chief from Halo 3
56:01 I love how you guys mention flash but not the green lanterns…tho they could be dealing with the bullsh** that is the Thorne series BUT Hal was still on earth as GL at the time so it makes no sense.
DC: Well Mr. Zdarsky what new and exciting ideas do you have for Batman?
Zdarsky: I was thinking Gotham gets taken over by a villain.
DC: Shut up and take our money.
This is a funny comment, but I feel like, realistically, the actual conversation went more like this:
DC: So, Mr. Zdarsky, what new ideas do you have for a Batman storyline?
Zdarsky: Well, for my first arc, I was gonna do this fun little storyline where Batman has to fight an evil robot version of himself. I think that would be cool to see-
DC: And how does the Evil Robot Batman take over Gotham City?
Zdarsky: …ummm…I _guess_ it could do that? I don’t-
DC: And then it beats the whole Justice League somehow?
Zdarsky: …I mean, _sure?_ I’m not really sure how that would-
DC: Great, you’re hired! Good luck on that first arc - then we can talk about the *Gotham War!!*
Zdarsky: The what-
DC: _snorts cocaine_ *MULTIVERSE!!!!* _drowns in a pile of their own money_
57:52 Failsafe just wants to watch the world burn.
This is one of my favorite back issues to rewatch
I can't describe how happy I was seeing this upload.
This arc was great 👍 it's gone kinda downhill since this ended but I love this one
The most Master Chief moment of Batman
"So they got rid of damien" lmao oh Ben, he just speaks what we all feel! Haha
Nah ppl are way to hung up on Damian pre developing as a character even in the recent Batman and Robin issue 1 he’s cool he’s chill and he’s having fun with Bruce.
@Ace-0f-Spadez nah it's all in jest
@comicpop What was the reference to “you need to come down here!” Quote?
Wrath of Khan
I used to work across the street from Boston Dynamics. They would walk their robot dogs in the street between our offices. They're even more disconcerting in person.
54:54 GOLD
Batman has taken a lot of naps during Chips run.
I get people rejecting the space thing but a few pages later he goes and meets his solar powered nigh invulnerable friend, so he can help him defeat a robot that an alternate personality he has buried deep in his mind created. So maybe suspend disbelief
36:06
Okay, so Nightwing has inherited money from Alfred.
Batman's breif space Odyssey was the coolest thing ever and I feel bad for those who couldn't enjoy it.
1:20:14 basically there doing arkham knight assist combos on failsafe lmmfao
Barnacle Batman - 😂😂😂
Aquaman just gives batman the aquacave.
I never expected a ProZD quote on comic pop but I'm glad to hear it
