Ryan Tedder said that she is the only artist he has ever felt guilty taking production credits because she comes in with the song 7/8s done. All you do is suggest an instrument to deliver what she is saying she wants to hear. She totally has her whole body into the production.
He's a musical genius too
she’s a masterpiece
That's why she must release all the footage from her idea in the middle of the night to the inception of those masterpieces.
Welcome to New York and I know places are my favorite in the album and I'm a big Ryan tedder fan and realized why I like them is because ryan tedder has some input on it.
I always like songs and discover he's the songwriter/producer on it.
Basically anything Ryan tedder makes I almost always like it.
My Tears Ricochet is about her stolen lullabies and each line of the first chorus was taken from a song from each stolen album!!
“i didn’t have it in myself to go with grace”- Red (State of Grace)
“you’re the hero flying around saving face”- Speak Now (Superman)
“and if I'm dead to you, why are you at the wake?”- rep (LWYMMD/old Taylor is dead)
“cursing my name”- Fearless (The Way I Loved You)
“wishing I stayed”- 1989 (All You Had to Do Was Stay)
“look at how my tears ricochet”- Debut (Teardrops on my Guitar)
Wow, I knew it was about her catalog being bought but had no clue of these song references. Really cool! -Ryan
@@WaveReact yeah it’s never been confirmed officially but it makes total sense to me
That doesn't surprise me at all.. She is a master of the art of writing songs which are simple at first listen but you always finding new layers of meaning
It’s also a funeral setting.
That's so genius I never realized that 😮
one great thing about this album is the songs each sound different but the whole album is a perfectly cohesive vibe
This!
“Even if he doesn’t love it you’ll get to see me love it.”
EDIT: thank you for all the likes🫧
😂😂😂
@@WaveReact loved to see you love it
This girl im talking to is a HUGE T. Swift fan, I decided to check out this album because she said it was her favourite, turns out I actually really liked it. I listened to her other albums and now I'm a Taylor Swift fan lmao? I wasnt aware of how talented she truely is as a singer and songwriter. This album is truely amazing
This is so cute that you listened to it after she said it’s her fav I hope you guys are doing well 🥰
@@megan5636 she found someone else 😭
@@MattyPraps1234 omggg nooo I am so sorry!! 1. There’s lots of amazing heartbreak songs from Taylor if you need? 😭 2. You will find your person one day and it will be worth the wait I promise 🤍🤍
@@megan5636 its ok, its been a few months so ive moved on! And yeah i hope i will
I think “this is me trying” is just an AMAZING song… in my opinion is the most beautiful in the album
My fave from this album too!
It looks like me forcing my friend to listen to Taylor's album and then explain everything to them 😂❤
That is exactly what this is 😂
😂😂 yes
I think that the big difference between Taylor Swift and other artists is that Taylor Swift is dominating in every aspect in the music industry. From physical sales, digital sales, streaming number, chart success, critically acclaimed, breaking records, awards, touring, intellectual property (master of music catalogue & publishing records), and the most important things is loyal fanbase. So many “die hard” Taylor Swift fans are not only stay for her music but also because of her character (keep being humble and relatable). I think She treats her fans the best among other artists because she has genuine concern to her fans. Taylor Swift main forte is her songwriting. She is not the best vocalist compared other singers out there, but she is amazing with her craft. And she is a savvy business women in the music industry. She is the risk takers and so damn intelligent with her business ownership. There is a great video from “Rap Chanel” that explained Why Taylor Swift is Winning.
Taylor’s forte are mainly her songwriting and story telling. They have their own story and narrative, it’s basic knowledge. I’ll give you some facts, Across Taylor’s discography (>200 songs), she accomplished more than 30% credited for the percentage of songs written solely by her, the highest percentage of the mainstream artists of her generation followed by Ed Sheeran (15.2%) and Adele (14.5%), in fact Taylor Swift is the most successful songwriter of her generation according to Billboard and other music experts both critically and commercially.
The motive and theme of her songs are majority about the complexity of the relationship, about her lover, her ex, her parents, her family, her friends, her band, her fans, her haters and her cats. Her latest project that is album sisters called “folklore” and “evermore” took inspiration from fictional character with little snippet of her story life and talked about Mental Health, Child abuse, World War 2, PTSD, Pandemic, Infidelity, The Last Great American Dynasty (Her House) and so on.
Thanks! Couldn’t of said it better myself. Her songwriting is a masterclass and should be studied by upcoming musicians.
Taylor has an incredible voice, if she would not sound like that, the lyrics would not come alive we need to stop thinking that a singer needs to sound like Aretha Franklin. She’s also a great musician, and has a lot of Musical Prowess, production and incredible performance skills but her songwriting is just..the icing on the cake 🍰 she has many things in one, other people have come to have incredible careers only as musicians or only singers or only songwriters or producer and singers but not songwriters and so on.
This is why I love Taylor more than any other artists. She's amazing and her personality..
Still so shook with exile all these years later. As a huge fan of Justin, hearing his deep voice is always so satisfying cuz we never really heard it that often, especially with his earlier works.
It’s so hauntingly beautiful -Ryan
I love this. I love seeing people who are not what people assume Taylor Swift lovers absolutely love her music. It brings me joy. This brought me joy.
Thanks for the kind words, Melinda! -Ryan
I'm so excited that you're introducing Zach to one of my favourite albums 😊
I loved it! -Zach
Taylor has been writing her own songs since she was 10 years old and pretty much her entire discography is autobiographical with the exception of some songs
And for the production Taylor usually comes out with the melody and the lyrics together she would just have this idea in her head and starts playing it on piano or a guitar then send it to jack or Aaron
There are multiple videos of her process of creating songs and how she comes out with lyrics and melody
You didn't mention that Folklore won Album of the year at the Grammy's (and Aaron Dessner in his acceptance speech called Taylor "one of our greatest living songwriters").
I love when people who know music discover Taylor Swift. It was even hard for me to recognize that young, pretty women can be musical geniuses, just like Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Billy Joel, Elton John/Bernie Taupin. A musical genius doesn't have to be male and "attractively challenged" haha. You hit ALL my favorite lyrics in her songs and explained their meaning correctly. Next you might listen to the Lover album, which I adore. (I would say 1989 or Reputation, but you must wait until her version is released so that you don't give money to the enemy by downloading or streaming Scott Borchetta's albums!).
Thanks for the info, I missed that acceptance speech! She is a musical genius, no doubt. And I can’t wait to do 1989 but I’ve been waiting for her version for the reasons you mentioned. I’m hoping it comes this year considering she already released Wildest Dreams TV. Also, Lover has many gems on it. Thanks for watching! -Ryan
Great reaction, guys, and agreed, “My tears ricochet” is the best track on the album, which doesn’t even surprise me because it’s the track 5, where Taylor always puts the heavy hitter.
Hopefully one day you two can get to Evermore, which is in my (very unpopular) opinion, the slightly superior album.
We super appreciate you contributing to our Patreon, Greta! 💙
Everything about my tears ricochet is perfect. Oh, I love evermore and can’t wait to share it with Zach!
@@WaveReact oh, no, thank you for the content, I can’t wait to dig into other reactions :)
I feel that whilst evermore didn’t have the commercial success of folklore. Within the swiftie community evermore is considered by the majority as the superior album.
I personally prefer folklore though.
@@lordlcww6536 I always see people put evermore at the bottom of their album rankings, it is most definitely not considered the better album (although it is)
@@angelicafurento1428 idk. I wake up to a viral evermore over folklore tweet every few days. In all the twitter polls the folklore songs beat evermore songs 1 on 1 but everyone votes for evermore as an album.
This is me imagining a world where Adam and Taylor got together and are writing the greatest songs to ever be heard on face of the earth.
This comment right here is what we all need!

I liked the lyrics! I watch a lot of reactions, especially for Taylor, never seen that set up so it was nice. Evermore should for sure be next but I’m still hooked on Midnights too 🙃
helpful!
Would be great to see you react to The lakes... that song is the real album closer. Also lyrics and instrumentation go hard on it

It was helpful thank youu
great reaction! and respect to the guy on the left for knowing every word/production detail, we love a swiftie.
Loved this. He's right, it takes a few listens to really soak in the lyrics and production. This is my favorite album of all time. Do Evermore next!
I‘m so happy you guys enjoyed this album because I think this is one of the best albums of all time, the vibe, the feelings and this amazing simplistic but still interesting production, plus the lyrics and the storytelling with Taylors amazing soothing vocals and low notes delivery. I loved how you guys really listened to the album covering every aspect of it. I would love to see your reaction to her sister album Evermore because it’s soooo worth it ☺️
can i just say that i love LOVE how you input lyrics because most of the time i like to watch random reactions to artists but i just cAN’T UNDERSTAND THE LYRICS AND WHY THEY’RE REACTING LIKE THAT

I FORGOT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH A SAINT AND FOR MORE REACTORS TO FOLLOW INTO YOUR FOOTSTEPS
Thank you! Glad you found the lyrics helpful
My tear ricochet is hands down the best song on the album...
Yes! So glad someone agrees with me -Ryan
Epiphany is the best song on Folklore by miles but it's so stark and raw that I fully understand why people wouldn't pick it as the best...
@ZATennisFan to be honest the line between best and favorite can be blurred sometimes...any song on that album can be someone's best because of how they relate to it my personal best are
1.MTR
2.exile
3.epiphany
4.peace
5.hoax
And that says a lot considering cardigan , seven and mirroball are also superb songs
@WaveReact tbh songs that Taylor writes only by herself are bangers which is why I think speak now is one of her best albums
@@mugochoks9169 There is a difference here between best and favourite..
Taylor is one of the greatest artists of the age, she puts her full heart into everything she does!! I am proud to be a "Swiftie." It's hard to say which album you guys should review next, I would say maybe Folklore's sister album Evermore, or her newest release Midnights
I’m definitely excited for whatever Ryan shows me next! -Zach
One of the greatest finest albums of the decade. We definitely can say that the lyrics of the album is so far in the highest level. And you know, August is a bop
Really nice. Folklore was the first album I ever listened to of Taylor Swift, and I have to say, its spectacular. Evermore is in the same vein but the album has a different vibe to it than folklore, they are very different albums. I’d love to see that reaction. Also, about Taylor producing. She has co-producing credits on most of her catalog throughout her career. People don’t often know that. But, she co-produces most of her music. She has been writing the storyboards for her music videos most of her career and has been directing most of them for the past 4 years. She was the first woman to actually win best director.
Oh wow! That is awesome that she won best director. It’s been really cool to learn how involved she is with her music. I’m excited to hear more! -Zach
How come you never listened to any of her previous incredible albums?
Sidenote about my tears ricochet: it's about Scott Borchetta... The head of her former label. He is the one that sold the masters to Scooter. The pain in the song comes from being betrayed by someone Taylor used to know since she was 14. They basically build that label together. Scott used to say he was foe artist rights but at the end he chose money over her
i’m so happy Ryan said my tears ricochet is his favorite on this album because it’s mine too and it’s so underrated and not enough people talk about it i think.
It’s soooooo good! I love a good build up and it delivers -Ryan
PLEASE do Reputation! It's so epic especially when you look into what its all about and how she had to literally revive her career after Kim and Kanye came for her. At the same time she had met her now boyfriend and was falling in love, the album really shows what she was going through and it just hits so hard!
I really love this reaction, Could u do evermore next
Thanks! That’s on my list to show Zach 😊 -Ryan
@@WaveReact yay. Can't wait for evermore! My Tears Ricochet is my fav track as well.
There's also Renegade and some songs were produced by Aaron on her album Midnights
Yes, came back to the channel looking for Evermore
Hoax is criminally underrated and for what
loved the reaction. great to see open minded musicians trying a full taylor album cause she always has such beautiful deep cuts that most people will never hear if it's not on the radio. maybe evermore next since it's the sister album and the songwriting is even better on that one in my opinion. even the bonus tracks are so incredibly good that it's crazy she didn't put them on the official album.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
You should check out the Long Pond Studio sessions with Taylor, Aaron and Jack playing stripped down acoustic versions of the album together for the first time.
Thank you soooo much!!! I get to re-live once again the Folklore world, and I was just beaming and bawling at the same time, the whole time. Love this reaction.💛
Really appreciate that! I’m huge fan of reaction videos because of that feeling of getting to re-live the experience as well as digitally connect with other people who like the same music as me. Thanks for listening with us! -Ryan
@@WaveReact My pleasure! you've just earned a new subscriber. And please do reaction to Evermore next, it's another superb album. Btw. My Tears Ricochet is really the best song in the album, I'm with you, and Folklore is my fave album from Taylor so far.
I’m not sure how the algorithm didn’t bring this video to me before now, but here I am. Now that we’re post Joe there are so many songs on this album, on Lover, and even Evermore that hint at problems that she didn’t want to admit. It’s just so sad to listen to how she felt through that relationship, like she always knew it would eventually end and it would be because he couldn’t handle being with someone who is such a public figure.
Yes! Peace comes to top of mine for me. Glad you found us and thanks for listening with us ☺️
Laying in my hospital bed with bad fever and watching you guys for the first time and it’s sure helped me feel better.
Thank you guys for an amazing reaction, will be coming back for more!
Please do evermore next!
That’s so nice of you to say! Really hope you feel better soon. 💙
evermore is coming!
this was great i usually listen to lyrics first when i hear songs especially on this taylor album but you guys pointing out the instrumental part was nice for me to focus on it more
Thanks! We’re glad you heard some new things on this listen through. Thanks for watching!
In my opinion MTR is so much more than about her stolen records. It is about lost of a relationship with the person you were really closed with, who knew your fears and betrayed you in the worst possible way. Like a best friend you lost, a couple going through a divorce, parents who treats you differently after you turn a certain age. And then in the end Taylor draws parallel to her stolen records because it was her life's work. To say it is just about her stolen records somehow diminishes the beauty of this song. BTW, I loved your reactions and appreciate Zach for listening to her without any prejudice.
Loved the reaction! With a Swiftie on the reaction team, I don't think you need our recommendations, but please make more of these!! If you want to deep dive into each song, that would be cool too because you may miss out on the lyrics while listening to the production and vice versa. More, please!
Damn you guys for reminding me of Taylor and Adam’s would’ve could’ve should’ve relationship that never happened 😂
The greatest films of all time were never made, indeed.
Btw, it would be cool if both of you would go through their whole discography (Adam: Maybe I’m Dreaming - Coco Moon) (Taylor: Debut - Midnights)
I loved going through this album watching the lyric video followed by checking out the Long Pond studio sessions, listening to Taylor and Aaron or Jack discuss the making of and meaning behind the songs. Then you can watch her sing it in the studio while they play piano and guitar. And then if there is a music video, like for Cardigan, it’s gorgeous and adds so much to the song, so I watch that too!
Oh I just love everything about this video!! I hope this is going to be a series with Zach because I really want him to explore Evermore next. That and Folklore are simply the best Taylor albums ever made, in my personal opinion :)
Really loved this video. I enjoy seeing people who are knowledgeable about music and open minded listen to Taylor. Often people come to her music with a pre-conceived notion that is incorrect, or a love so deep that there is no critical thinking. Would love to see more from you two. Evermore is of course the sister album and is just as good. But I think Midnights would be a fun one for you to dig into if you want to meet her where she is right now.
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! That is a huge part of the value we are trying to bring to people. The fact that good music is good music! It's awesome that it comes across in this video. Thanks so much for watching!
please, please, pleeeeeease do evermore!! loved the reaction, one of the few that gave the real deserved appreciation for the album rather than just exaggerated excitment i saw in a lot of other reactions. i'd love for you to also speak more about the lirycs, even tho i know you said you're more of a instrumental guy ;) you guys are great, lovely to see a swiftie spreading the genius of taylor
Thank you so much for the kind words! We are glad you enjoyed the reaction and we will definitely be doing evermore!
My favorite album! Thank you for reaching this masterpiece ❤
i’d like to mention that in ‘august’, there’s this double meaning to the phrase “meet me behind the mall”, which is “meet me behind them all”
i think this reinforces the idea that augustine is just a summer fling, an object of james’s desire. she’s a secret, a shameful act. this implies that james knew he was screwing up with betty, he decided to go off with augustine even though he knew he shouldn’t.
these little details, intended or not, are in my opinion what make this album brilliant.
great video!
I love this detail! Thanks for sharing ☺️
Enjoyed all the analyzing you guys did,
Next time do the Evermore pls 🙏🏻
Peace just sounds like perfection to me.
Watching this feels like it’s my first time listening to folklore as well. Great reaction and listening guys!
That is awesome! That is our goal. So thanks for listening along with us. 😊
I think evermore is the stronger of her two storytelling/pandemic albums but I absolutely love folklore with all my heart. I've been a taylor fan since 2008 and watching her grow musically and lyrically has been such an immense pleasure. I'm incredibly glad to exist in the same timeline as taylor swift, it's a truly beautiful thing. If you ever get the chance, go see her live, she is phenomenal (i first saw her live 9 years ago and every concert since then has been an absolutely right-on, having the time of my life kinda experience)
as always, I wanna thank you guys for putting so much care and love and nuance in your reactions, they truly are a wonderful thing to watch and rejoice in. I will always love seeing people throw preconceived notions and bias' to the side to find the joy in music and you two truly have mastered the art. it's also just always fun seeing people enjoy music you yourself love!!! also something about your setup is really comforting to me, I can't really explain it ngl. I also really, really love the lyrics you added on the screen, especially for taylor who has always, first and foremost, been a songwriter to me, so I really appreciate the added touch!!
Anna, first off, thank you SO MUCH for your kind words. To us good music is good music and that’s what we want to share! It means the world that the way we feel is coming through to our audience. I hope you have an amazing day.

Great job guys! I think this one is growing on me more now on the second listen with you. So subtle and tasteful.
Thanks, Tim! Her descriptive songwriting is just next level. This is a good weekend morning album imo. I put it on while making bacon and eggs, haha. -Ryan
@@WaveReact Oh definitely, it feels very chilled and introspective. Some similar stuff that I enjoy are Death Cab For Cutie's Thank You For Today, The War on Drugs and some of the slower Midnight tracks.

I'd be really interested in watching your reactions to Ys by Joanna Newsom, another favorite album and probably one of my favorite artists. I think she's a bona-fide genius. There'd be so much for you two to digest both musically and lyrically. She's a virtuosic harpist and her vocals are very unique. I'm really enjoying your reactions to this album so far 😊 so funny, I have very different favourites to you. If I was forced to chose a top 3, which is tough as I really love the whole album, mine would probably be Peace, Epiphany and Illicit Affairs. I also LOVE The Last Great American Dynasty and Exile.
I enjoy the love triangle songs, but those I mentioned just felt a bit more mature and more where I'm at in my life (not teenage years), I think that probably counts.
Her bridges just are over the top brilliant tho 🥰
I think the sign of a great album is fans gravitating toward different songs and I agree it’s hard to pick the top on this one, I go back and forth a lot. I’m sad I don’t think I gave her bridges credit in this video, but I made sure to discuss in our evemore reaction which is coming in a few weeks! @@WaveReact I fully agree. The range in these "pandemic" albums is so strong in terms of different people being drawn/relating to different sounds or lyrics 😊
I am SOOOO excite you guys are doing Evermore!!! To me, it's the big sister of Folklore and it is pretty much perfect in my mind. Only two songs in my mind that I'd "skip" (won't say now to spoil anything). And even those two I will happily listen to if I'm too busy to skip when they come on.
Are you familiar with Florence and the Machine at all? Jack Antonoff produced the first half of their latest album. If you don't know them, I think you'd both love them. They've very favourite band for over 10 years 😊
would love to see one for evermore!!

I definitely have a feeling that more Taylor is coming! -Zach
Taylor plays several instruments, including guitar, piano, banjo, and ukulele, but I think there is a strong possibility she might know how to play some other instruments.
Nice! That’s so awesome. It brings so much more to the songwriting process knowing how to play. -Zach
