You have a great HVAC channel! FYI, a king valve has a long stem, 3 positions and all that I have seen do not have schrader cores on the service port. What you are normally seeing on a condenser unit is a service valve.
I was in the HVAC business for almost 50 years, I agree dirty filter. I would have taken the condenser cabinet off to clean the coil, you already had the top off few more screws and you were there. I lived in a town called Cottonwood, every year the town turned white from those cottonwood trees. I cleaned a lot of coils.
