Recently repaired the same leak. 2014 model though. Was able to get coil under warranty, coil was right around $1,000.

i fixed a piece of equipment some one else fixed a day before it was a "small leak" at the service valve, obvious BS answer so they didnt have to fix it, it needed a shaft seal.

PVC cutters. The ones I’m using in this video are Wheeler-Rex brand and are a little expensive but you can get a decent pair for about $40

Unit under deck, someone probably topped it off with a different refrigerate than what was used during the condenser change-out. With all the different R-22 replacement sometimes you have to guess. Whoever did the change-out should have pulled out the sharpie and write down the refrigerate used. I would also write it down inside the control panel.

Good call i agree recover and recharge with 422B bit of a mystery charge 🤔 could very well be 410A and relocation 👍👍👍

It took me a couple years to find out to. It's better to not use a coupling. Anywhere to remove the same pipe later for any reason. Replace it with a union and not a coupling.

Hey Jeff! So I'm somewhat new to hvac, only been doing it for about a year now. To me It kind of seemed like the txv was acting up on that last system. "i'm just assuming it's a txv and not a piston" How exactly did you come to the conclusion that it was most likely a mix of different refrigerants? Because I would like to know in case I see something like that in the future.

It’s really just a hunch. Higher pressures on suction and discharge, high Subcooling plus 90% of those Air Temp models are 410a especially from 2014. I can see a tech just dumping 410 in there with out checking.
