You know after all the accolades this show has earned for Amazon, if they ever approached Amy Sherman-Palladino to pen an original movie, I would love to see a prequel movie about "THE WARS". I can already see it now: Title: The Matchmaker Wars Tagline: "The conflict that broke a million hearts." 😃
Would never have thought anything would get me to click on a _Marvelous Mrs. Maisel_ clip, as I gave up on that show partway through the first season after the umpteenth time what's-her-face throws Susie under the bus. But you had me at Kelly Bishop.
I wonder if later (once the new wars are over) if this society of ladies/small business women will have two additional members, one for the latino/hispanic communities in Manhattan and one for Chinatown (Mei's family probably knows somehow with a keen eye for affairs of the heart and they'd be another powerful friend to the ladies). I suppose there should be someone there to match up the WASP couples but I get the feeling that the WASPs of the 60s at least wouldn't deign to associate with anyone else who isn't a fellow WASP.
This scene and story line is one of the reasons that the Palladinos drive me nuts. They create interesting worlds and characters but then they muck it up with this nonsense. Why in the world would any of these women feel threatened by Rose? They're not getting the Jewish clients. This screams of "we want to find something to do with Rose and we need an excuse to bring Kelly Bishop in."
Whenever this happened, I had long since tuned out, because the Palladinos pissed me off by having whatsis throw Susie under the bus again and again and again. Why would I root for this person? The strongest, staunchest supporter gets her opportunity after opportunity and she decides to be high and mighty over and over about some stupid thing - not to mention that Lenny Bruce would have given this loser the time of day?
Hated this scene SO much!!! They invited her to the table only to shun her and shut her down. BEYOND awful. WITCHES. Remarkably petty & cruel. I hope Rose shows these nasty bullies that she won’t be intimidated or discouraged. They should’ve been inclusive & welcoming. There’s room for us all. These women are ugly in every sense of the word.

Kelly Bishop is so talented. I expect to be watching Mrs. Gilmore in this scene. Bernadette was 100% in this scene. Well done.
