This movie was so epic as a child. I miss Rick Moranis, but he gave us so much in a short time.
Also, for those who don't know, Rick Moranis quit acting when his wife passed away and he wanted to dedicate his time as a father to his children.
a REAL man
yup, he a real one for that, now that his kids are all grown though, he's come back in recent years, he voiced one of the Moose in the Brother Bear movies.
He said he would come back if the so a Remake etc
@@UltimateGamerCC I'm curious, what's the right plural word for a moose?
@@MichaelLee-tt7gm oddly enough, the plural for moose is.. moose.
I saw this as a kid. I bawled my eyes out when the ant died. Him screaming just before it happened broke my heart
It's so cool that 2 gay guys do reactions. Odd you're brothers, but still brave
RIP the ant. RIP Artax
I saw this as an adult. I bawled my eyes out when Anty died. 👍
@@tehcareywhat the fuxk are you even talking about?
@@alexanderzadoroznyjhe doesn't know. He eats corn the long way, sits to pee and dwells in the basement of his two dad's
OctoKrool: "I love Anty!"
80s kids: 😬😬😬
Soon as he said that I said “oh no”
Yup, welcome to the 80s. 😆
Basically anyone up to affordable DVD times. It was our most watched "classic" VHS in 90s, just beside Problem Child and Happy Gilmore.
80’s movies hit different they didn’t mind showing kids reality
exactly like E.T. and Back to the Future.
yup, zero deaths happened in kids movies post-80's..
@@Rhodair I can think of at least a dozen, you git
@@Rhodair Except in The Lion King, Up, The Land Before Time, nearly every single Harry Potter film...
Absolutely. Another member of the 80's childhood trauma pack. Along with Neverending Story, Return to Oz, Legend, E.T., Land Before Time, Brave Little Toaster, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory...
"Dude, I love the ant, SO much!"
"Yeah, he's cute."
Me: Oh no😢
😂
The ant dying when I was 7 was almost as traumatic as…that scene… in The never ending Story
😭😭😭😭😭😭Artax😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
That my no 1. Bing bong no. 3
More traumatic. Anty stays dead.
OMG I HATED THAT. as a kid, I almost rage quit watching that movie when that happened. also fear of quick sand was unlocked.
We watch this movie everyday as a kid.
Disneyland had the attraction "Honey I shrunk the audience" it was so cool to me as a child.
Anty is right up there with a certain horse whose name also starts with A as far as most depressing deaths.
I can tell you.. you're absolutely right about seeing Anty die. I cried so much when I was a kid.
RIP Anty. I loved him like a father.
I'm glad it wasn't just me! I've cried in 4 movies in my life. Anty was one of them
“Little Giants” is another classic like this.
Little Giants is SO good, not as remembered as it should be
Can't even imagine the internet shit storm in today's world, if a movie with a girl being badass at football was made.
Anty’s fate was always the hardest part of this movie.
Anty fought to the end. A real trooper.😢😢
This was director, Joe Johnston's first film. He started his career by responding to a flyer posted at his California technical college by a young film director looking for students with real engineering knowledge to design believable looking assets for his new film. That director was George Lucas. Joe Johnston began his career designing many of the original trilogy Star Wars ships, including the Millennium Falcon. After RotJ, George paid for Joe to go to film school. Joe also directed, "Captain America: The First Avenger", among others and is a super down to earth, good guy.
He also directed Jurassic Park III.
@@timothymorris157I was gonna say the same. I really enjoy that movie cause it’s pacing. A fun ride.
@@timothymorris157and Jumanji.
I never knew this! Thank you.
@@80sGamerLady Princess Leia's ship from the opening crawl was initially supposed to be the 'Falcon, however after 2001 A Space Odyssey hit screens, Lucas and co. felt that their Falcon was too close in appearance to Kubrick's ship, and had to go back to the drawing board - but there was not time. Joe pretty much winged the Falcon off the cuff, and the production crew had much less reference schematics than the other ships, to work off of for the full scale build.
Rick Moranis's wife died of cancer and he quit acting to take care of his young kids. We 90s kids respect him so much. A few years ago when people were doing that dumb challenge of punching random people in the face, he was one of the victims and when i tell you WE ALL rallied behind him., we stood up!!
We played no games that day!!
Nobody stood up to anything. Posting on social media isn't standing up.
I remember Bill burr did a joke about it
@@DrSpoculus yeah, it is just an empty saying, like "we all pray for you".
Love this movie as a kid...had it on a VHS tape with Big & The Burbs
I haven't seen this in so long. I remember being devastated by poor Anty's death, but I didn't remember it being so graphic, jesus.
Kids' movies shouldn't be just about giggling at weird, funny stuff happening. Scenes like the death of Anty bring so much more depth to a story. They help you grow up and appreciate the things in life even more. I recommend watching other kids' stories that, in my opinion, hit the same way: ALF's Special Christmas and Space Firebird 2772.
Aww man, so many great 80's movies you get to watch for the first time. Flight of the Navigator, *Batteries Not Included, The Explorers, Red Dawn, D.A.R.Y.L, etc
actually it's just "Explorers", but W suggestions @krashd
Yess! Flight of the Navigator~
Nobody is safe in an 80's movie... but the fact everyone was devastated when an animatronic ant was killed really blew everyone's mind. The game Grounded is pretty much this film... definitely a good time. Oh, and it gives you more of the big bugs you wanted to see.
R.I.P ANDY 💕 lost but never forgotten
*Anty dies*
*New generations crying*
Gen-Xers: We grew-up on this sh*t
Pfft. Anty? I was already numb by then. I already watched Artax, G1 Optimus, the Captain of the Yamato! Hell, it took Serenity to make me feel a sliver of that again. Spoilers though! Not sure if the twins have or ever will see Serenity. Dont know that they do series or ever will, and they have to watch Firefly first!
Gen-Xers would have been in their teens at this point. Millennials grew up with this.
@@fredcasdensworld this was not really a kids movie to me, it was a teen movie. Nowadays, if there isn't cursing it is a kids movie, but back then it was more to do with the age of the stars. This, like the goodies, were more teen than kid.
@@fredcasdensworld Generations are on average 20-year increments.
When I watched this as a kid, my brother and I were convinced little ppl lived in our home. My mother who's a seamstress decided to play a prank on us and make a bunch of little clothes, leaving them around the house...and this is the first time I had a panic attack.
😂😂😂 that was cruel
Sounds like you had Borrowers living in your walls lol 🤣

I'm 67, I loved this movie when it came out
The sequel, Honey, i blew up the kid was the first movie i ever saw in a cinema (movie theater).
Big ants... Them! (1954) Is a great sci fi movie about giant ants. Surpringly good, and watchable for being so old.
Yes, I remember this movie! I used to watch it every rerun.
It's amazing how this movie makes you fall in love with a simple ant 😂😂😂😂😂he really is cute
you should react to another RICK MORANIS movie
BIG BULLY (1996) starring TOM ARNOLD
OMG Yes! 🤣
Also the soccer movie with Rick and Ed O'Neil... I think it's the big green or something?
@@MitchClement-il6iq little Giants
Or the criminally underrated 'Club Paradise' (1986), starring Robin Williams, Rick Moranis, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Peter O'Toole, Joanna Cassidy and more.
I saw someone else recommend Flight of the Navigator and couldn't agree more! You two would LOVE that one
His name is Anty, by the way ;)
Yeah I was confused if it was Andy or anty because I remember it being anty.
I actually saw this in the theater as a kid! We were regularly exposed to ant-related trauma as kids back then.
One of my FAVORITE Movies of ALL-TIME!
So many years and that freaking dead ant always breaks my heart
Such a classic. We loved watching this growing up. RIP Anty
Mr. Wizard was Bill Nye before there was a Bill Nye. It was kind of a mix of Mr. Rogers and science. It was really cool for us kids growing up in the 70s and 80s.
Time for the sequel now!!
Love this movie when I was a kid this was my favorite movie I wacth it ever day.
I like how they just have random scorpions in their backyard!!! 🤣🤣
I used to think like you. Then, sometimes I find random scorpions in my backyard and this of this movie everytime
I thought that too
Unless you live in Alaska, you probably have a stray or 2 in your backyard as we speak. Just sayin'.
I live in England so we don’t have any scorpions at all
*THINK* of this movie is what I meant to say
Omg my childhood love this movie. The special effects were before its time
This was REVOLUTIONARY at the time. I remember watching a "How they did that" tv show and my mind was blown! I believe they even had a Honey I Shrunk the Kids at Disney (or Nickelodeon) where you could go down the grass slide, etc. It was the coolest thing (for a 9 year old) haha
I love how you are always about the animals in the films. Very cool
this is one of my favorite reaction channels but i never watch their videos because when i do they sometimes scream so much it gives me a headache...glad to see their subscriber list has continued to grow though
I have to skip their intros bc I don't like getting screamed at. I love the enthusiasm but I wear headphones and it gets too loud for my taste.
I Luved Luved LOVED your reaction to Anty!!! I watched this as a teenager in the theater & we ALL cried over Anty...
Forgot about how sad Anty's death is. Right up there with Littlefoot's mom. Feaking 80s tearjerkers!
Hey guys! Love your content! Keep it up. Honestly, whenever I'm having a bad day, your content puts me in a good mood every time, so thank you for that. It's always a great feeling whenever I find a fellow movie buff(s), that appreciate not only the entertainment value, but the joy it brings with every showing. Again, thanks for always being there
Omg I haven’t seen this movie in decades!
Request you’ll love: Dennis the Menace. Walter Matthau Christopher Lloyd.
Honey I Blew Up The Baby is another good movie
I haven't seen this movie in a long time. The ant dying always makes me cry 😢. I guess you guys need to watch the sequel now. "Honey I Blew Up The Kids" 😂😂😂
A rare movie reaction, this was one of the most great childhood memory movie w
I’m so excited to see you reacting to this movie. I hope you guys do reaction videos for the sequels.
Re-traumatized watching Anty die. Thanks bros. Needed a good cry.
The "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" playground at Universal Studios in Florida was EPIC! Well, at least it was to me as a kid 😂
Y'all should definitely watch the next one "Honey We Shrunk Ourselves".
P.S. I did cry when I saw the ant die the first time....and from then on I fast-forwarded through all the scenes with the ant 😢
I’m pretty sure the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground was at MGM Studios (now Hollywood Studios) at Walt Disney World. Though it no longer exists as they demolished it to build Galaxy’s Edge. But it was super cool while it lasted
Joe Johnston is one of *THE MOST CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED CREATOR & DIRECTOR OF ALL TIME.*
He created Boba Fett & the mandalorians.
Directed 3 of the most prolific characters in pop culture history.
Cliff Secord, The Rocketeer
Alah Parrish, Jumanji
Steve Rogers, Captain America
Although Joe co-directed this certified classic, none of the magic would be possible without the legendary Stuart Gordon & Brian Yuzna.
And he designed the Iron Giant.
RIP anty still makes me sad and I'm a 31 adult now 😔
I never thought I would cry over an ant 🐜 dying, but I did the first time I seen this as a child.
Still can't get over it.
22:52 Identical-twins speak in unison, "Woah, Sh*t!"
On a sad note, the kid actor playing the neighbor boy who mows lawns, later committed armed robbery to support his drug addiction. He got a long prison sentence but unfortunately died in prison from an overdose.
This was 1 of my fav movies as a kid
This is such a great flick, the set designs of the 80's/90's were so captivating I really miss physical set designs. You got to check out the 90's version of Homeward Bound, you'll love it.
Anty best bud. As an 80s little girl, I always cried at that scene.
Another great movie with Rick Moranis was Ghostbusters 1 and 2.
If you were the dad in this movie, how would you go about finding the kids? I think I would have made a bunch of little waypoints for the kids to reach, but once they reach it, stay there, because that's going to be checked first. So like every 2 feet, stab in one of those little umbrellas that come with tiki drinks. You could probably make a recording of the exact instructions, and leave it playing on a loop. Or just make a poster board and place it at the back porch.
As someone who is terrified of bugs, this movie was a nightmare come to life lol Still love it tho. I still quote it when my allergies flare up. “I’m too little to breathe it in!” 🤧
I loved the animated intro at the beggining.
So much nostalgia 😢❤
Miss being a kid and going to the video store and renting this on VHS for the 10th time!
Andy's death was heartbreaking but he went out a fighter even though he was overpowered, he still did everything he could to protect the kids til the end. RESPECT TO ANDY. 🐜 💪
Still have this on VHS to this day one of my favorites
If the Ant-y scene broke your heart, then you need to watch the Artax scene in "The Neverending Story" 😢
...and for goodness sake, play the intro credits for the awesome song, for yourselves & us!
I was 7 years old in 1989 and this was a part of Universal Studios when we went.
yep i was lucky enough to go round the set aswell...ive got some old photos of it....there was the Roger Rabbit set aswell...and the Back to the future ride....it was so cool back then😁
I was a kid chosen in 1990 to ride the flying bee in front of everyone, it was amazing!
I was almost 0 years old when this movie came out. lol.
love this movie , great effects , likeable characters.. big fun
This was a great movie as s kid- even better as an adult because of the special effects. ❤
I watched this at the cinema. It was quite a big movie back then.
I love the octo shake, lol. I love you guys' videos they make me laugh. Good stuff.
Just to break your heart a little more after Anty (RIP
Used to watch all three movies on VHS as a kid!
Didn't know there was a tv spin off until a few years ago!
Im 42 had this on VHS watched it 100 times as a kid. 80s movies didn't mind showing sad stuff. Never Ending Story... Great reaction.
The loss of Andy, for me, was far more traumatic than the loss of Artax from Never-ending Story. Otherwise, this is such a feel-good movie from my childhood. The neighbor played by Matt Frewer is also great in National Lampoon’s Senior Trip.
I always cried during the ant scene :( still do.
When it came out on tape we had to stop the tape when ant was killed. It was traumatising and we needed time before continuing the movie.
Such an iconic franchise. Honey, we shrunk ourselves is one of my favorite ones. I love all 3
This is on my top 10 of fave movies
There is a game which is inspired on this film. Grounded. Might not be 100% sure, but sure do look cool.
RIP to Anty. 🙏🏻🥺😢
There's something i just got to wondering about Anty and that is where was his colony at because if his colony had been around they definitely would've kicked the s*** out of that Scorpion oh yeah 2 saddest movie insect deaths Anty the Ant from Honey I Shrunk The Kids and Ray Ray the Lightning Bug from Disney's Princess And The Frog
Classic watched it as a kid.
We'll miss you Andy 🐜
Its been a long time since i have seen the 2nd one. But i remember it being good.
Hey guys, HIGHLY RECOMMEND watching 'Cave Man' (1981), 'Tucker and Dale vs Evil' (2010) and 'Paul' (2011) sometime. I guarantee you'll enjoy them all and they'll make for some great reactions.
One of my favorite movies from my childhood!
My dad recorded this movie, PREDATOR, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit on the same VHS tape back in the 90's when these were on HBO.
Joe Johnston, VFX artist for STAR WARS directed this movie, as well as THE ROCKETEER, JURASSIC PARK 3, THE WOLFMAN and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER.
Maaan, my dad bootlegged movies constantly like that, lol we had about 800 movies on a small shelf, it was awesome because my dad was ocd and had a notebook with all the movies in alphabetical order and the vhs tapes all had numbers so all we had to do was find the movie we wanted and then look for the vhs with that number and like you said, usually can fit about 2 to 3 movies on one vhs🤘🤘🤘
I cried so hard at antys death the firs time i watched it,, man thats sad...
Good video
gotta do Honey I Blew Up the Kid now lol
POOR ANTIE 🐜
By the way, I love the actor who plays Big Russ. He was great in Lawnmower Man 2 as Jobe even though it was a cheesy movie, it was great cheese. And he was hilarious in the tv series Eureka as the dog catcher, Taggert.
I really liked him in "Max Headroom".
@@markreed392 oh shoot I completely forgot about that

I love this movie I know they had to have the kids in the movie run into some kind of peril with a scorpion and the fact that auntie anty.. sacrifice himself because he cared about the kids, was very sad but Noble, I do wish that auntie would have survived but I understood why they did it, movies from the 80s and 90s they didn't sugarcoat stuff for kids and they hit him with reality to kind of prepare him to say hey this is what could happen, not being struck by a laser obviously but you know there is death, and we could lose somebody we love
Rick moraniss best movie is "big bully" with Tom Arnold
Im sorry, i have to disagree. Spaceballs where he plays Dark Helmett is his best role.
