OpenTTD is a business simulation game in which players try to earn money via transporting passengers and freight by road, rail, water and air. It is an open-source remake and expansion of the 1995 Chris Sawyer video game Transport Tycoon Deluxe.
OpenTTD duplicates most features of Transport Tycoon Deluxe and has many additions, including a range of map sizes, support for many languages, custom (user-made) artificial intelligence (AI), downloadable customisations, ports for several widely used operating systems, and a more user-friendly interface. OpenTTD also supports local area network (LAN) and Internet multiplayer, co-operative and competitive, for up to 255 players.
OpenTTD is free and open-source software licensed under the GNU General Public License version 2.0 and is under ongoing development. According to a study of the 61,154 open-source projects on SourceForge in the period between 1999 and 2005, OpenTTD ranked 8th most active open-source project to receive patches and contributions. In 2003 or 2004, development moved to their own server. Since 2018, the project uses GitHub for its source repository and bug tracker.

When I'm stressed, I watch your OpenTTD videos to relax. Thanks for keeping me sane!
Happy to help!
I just discovered this game and I needed to see someone play it to understand it, but I wasn't expecting OpenTTD content to be good lol
It's all good fun. Glad you enjoyed
@@MasterHellish-Gaming Big fan of your opentttd series. I like how you explain each of them tiny details for all of us noobs out there.
It's always funny to look at the first train they give you in 1930 with the insane max speed of 64 km/h
I love that you ignore train convention and have trains on the UK side of the road. 😂
Coming from the UK I naturally have both driving on the left.
@@MasterHellish-Gaming I'm a Londoner.
You definitely want an intuitive grasp of the signal order when adding new lines, so it's definitely a good call.
Not often you find detailed OpenTTD coverage. I really enjoyed your video, sir. Merry Christmas
Do not forget to "allow" to increase the max. amount of transport. By default, 500 trains are set ... but I already have 100 in 1934.
Ok. New rule added "You are allowed to increase the number of allowed vehicles in your game settings (warning, will slow the game down)."

so... the stream is happening now, but this comment was 1 year ago…
I didn't understand (=
i was just watching S9 before bed last night. i had no idea this was coming, what a welcome surprise! always exciting to see a new openttd series, i cant wait for more.
It's going to be fantastic. Episode 2 live Tuesday night!
@@MasterHellish-Gaming awesome, i look forward to it!
no train zone: build a cannal system connecting all the cities with passenger service, if you think that's to much the 10 biggest cities in that zone
Ship canal system could be really fun to do
I’m looking forward to taking part in this series. I love your content. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much
Only just came back and saw this series. No trains and no landscaping sounds great. No-to-little landscaping is just my type of thing; I've always enjoyed laying a system that follows the terrain over one that simply used landscaping to flatten and carves through everything. More efficient sure, but not as fun.
This is a really awesome map to start my let's play run, so keen to see how my play style works with everything.
Glad you like it, thank you
Happy Ny Master Hellish, mods & chat, thanks for all u guys do
Thank you. Here we go with 2023!
@@MasterHellish-Gaming Hell YES!!
paused whilst building. Not for me mate, not for me. I'm OK with the fun or stress of having to build in real time. The stress of trying to get a waiting train in time to pick up the converted FIRS merchandise into the new train before it gets dropped off by the input train. Stuff like that
Part of the fun of this game, is the towns. The towns are like plants, if you water them, give them sunshine, they'll grow! It's always fun to do something on a corner of a map, and then come back a few years later and see how much a city has grown. So this ties into that reasoning for me you know?
Thank u so much 4 making all of this. I really want to learn again..
I hope you give it a go and enjoy it.
31:00 oh the whissel is a real good feature😁
Ya, it is. Hand tight for my full video about V13 when it drops
Ok mr hellish i was so curious after your reconmendation😂😂😂😂 so letssss go 😎😎👌🏻👍🏻
It's a cracker of a series
In the no trains zone, you could do the challenge of making all of your tires for your vehicle challenge zone and transport them down across the sea
That is an option. However I think I might do the entire vehicle challenge on that quadrant. Not 100% sure yet
Hey MH, this is going to be a good one! Can’t wait for the stream on Monday.
Tuesday... ruclips.net/video/VkVbnZDq4ys/видео.html
@@MasterHellish-Gaming Will be just as ready, thanks for the heads up ;)
All those challenges are in perfect balance!
Excited to watch this! Recently got back into open Ttd and your season 9 with steel town inspired me to start with that. I also used the renewed village growth game script. From googling I really couldn’t find much explaining the difference, is there a reason you settled on simple city builder? It does look like it has more specific requirements vs a big list, but maybe that’s just a setting. Thank you!
I looked at "Renewed Village Growth" and it is good. However for this map I needed a script that would work with just 1 town and allow the cities to grow under the regular growth so that you did not need big requirements in for the other challenges on the map. thanks for the comment
Can't wait to start playing the new map. I've already downloaded the map.
Hope you enjoy!
looking forward to watching your live streams
Thanks. First one is already scheduled. ruclips.net/video/VkVbnZDq4ys/видео.html
Awesome ! I was just searching for some good maps for OpenTTD or Theotown, a city building game for Android. I'm hopping between those two on my phone because my laptop is still broken 😅
So your let's play comes at the perfect moment, maybe this makes my decision which one to play easier 🎉😊
Hope you enjoy playing along! However you will need V13 for this map which I am not sure when you will get that on Android.
@@MasterHellish-Gaming yes i dont now how to get the V13
The only option is the computer version until the Android one gets updated
I also play the Mobile version of OTTD, it's a pitty that updates haven't been able to happen due to the modder fighting in Ukraine and no one else has taken up the mantle.
Nice map you've prepared here, this season will be nice to follow, specially during the live sessions! Is it just me or doesn't the last station you have built accept anything?
Thank you. Yep... I am going to get some transfering on that until Hellish City grows.
Huh. I did not know stations could be longer than 7. That will change my next play through
Yes, station spread and train length are two different settings so check both.
Sorry if i missed it. Isn't the max number of service stations that help the city grow 5 and it would be beneficial to have 2 more bus stations? or is it not mattering because it just checks if supplied or not in this case here?
This game uses the 'Simple City Builder' game script that changes the default behavior of the city growing. The 2 bus stations are just so that the town counts has having a service at all but the main growth comes from meeting the requirements of the game script.
In the vanilla game, you need 5 stations and cargo to be loaded and unloaded within 3 months. This means a single bus can do that job.
Yep, one bus could do the job, but I put a 2nd one in there for when one breaks down or needs to service.
openttd wiki: "loading or unloading at least one item of cargo at up to five stations within town influence within a 50 day period"
hey MH, love the lets play, however when I started doing exactly the same as you, my hellish city keeps saying it is "missing service". I've removed, relocated and tried about everything I can think of, still the same. The reason I'm mentioning this is, I can't get pass 100-110 passengers a month so can't progress passed the first requirement to grow my city.
Did I miss something ? has something changed ?
You need to have a service in your town as well as bringing people in. Also in moving your HQ you might have broken the game. Start a fresh, get a regular bus service running and then bring in people from other places.
Is cargo distribution enabled this season? Glad you kept build while paused, much more enjoyable to play at my own pace. Did I understand correctly that you can grow the nearby cities but not the towns?
Cargo distribution is not enabled. And yes, due to the game script for growing Hellish City only other cities can be grown but they will follow the normal OpenTTD growth.
It's first time for my to play with a city grow skript. How does it work? Do I also have to take passengers from the city, or is it enough to bring them to hellish city?
So you need some sort of service in the city (that is what my 2 bus stations are for). Then you need to deliver to the city the things listed in the goal requirements. No need to take anything out.
I think you did mention a spotlight video about the new release of openttd. Can't find it though. Or was it an announcement of a video still to come?
The spotlight video will be out when they release OpenTTD v13 stable. This has not happened yet at the time of this episode.
@@MasterHellish-Gaming Thank you MH!
Do i have to have steam to play along? Cause my autistic mind is quite confused about what to do... Sorry for the hassle.
No you do not need Steam to play this game.
How do you link the stations together like you did at Wuddinghattan?
Hold ctrl when building a station. This can also be used to build two different stations next to eachother
though where can whe dl the scenario map itself and iff its alrdy in that scenario DL list whats its name
Hellish City just stopped taking food on my save while it is at 1.4k pop. What am I missing?
Does your station have good enough coverage over the city in order for it to accept food?
this is goong to be really fun but nooo i dont want to deal with inflation again 😭😭
Don't worry. You don't need to deal with property maintenance like in S6. So it won't be too bad.
19:31 maybe remove the mouse acceleration box in the mouse settings. just change it in the control panel
Ya, it's odd because it's not like it is in other games. It's like it gets amplified in OpenTTD.
I want to play along. City growing and car manufacturing are nice golas, the other areas only have rules.
Please someone suggest some goals. Maybe grow as many citys as possible to 10k pop?
Or on both areas one fully connected industry network with every cargo type being moved (min x amont a month?).
We will have lots of ideas in the live chat on Tuesday night. I am looking forward to it
why don't you use the Original vehicle names GRF? I never understood why TTD changed all the vehicle names to some weird non existent ones ...
Here from Spiffing Brit anyone else? 😁
Approximately 300 of you over the last few days
Interesting Indeed. But I'm not good enough to compete with you lot yet. However, I downloaded the Bridge Replacement set and the firs replacement industry set and ran into trouble. My game disabled the bridge set and The Firs set doesn't show the button for Steeltown. A little help please.
If you use the game save off my website you will be okay. If you want to set up your own game with these mods then you will need to update the settings in the town overhaul mod to use the default bridges. If you need more help feel free to come to my Discord discord.gg/B3KthHwN
@@MasterHellish-Gaming Thsnk you for your reply. I was going to set up my own game. I'll see how I'ii go.
Hey Hellish, how'd you get the .::City::. labels?
It's part of the city builder script in the mods for this series
@@MasterHellish-Gaming Ahh damn, was hoping it was a NewGRF, so it could be combined with other scripts, I tried the City Builder Script and it didn't seem to work, but maybe there's a setting for it.
@@MasterHellish-Gaming Wrote a patch for JGR's fork adding this to the base game. :D
Building Roads doesn't annoy the town authorities unless you cut trees or terraform while doing it.
Or farmland if I remember correctly
Ummm what newgrf you use
A full list can be seen at: masterhellish.net/s10
@@MasterHellish-Gaming thanks
Hello, new here
Why not just connect all challenges in 1, beside no train?
Dont manipulate terrain, make vehicle (dont know how this one works) and then grow a city
This sounds like a good idea for a multiplayer viewers game
i dont now how to download version 13 openttd
Pls i have steam version
Open the Steam client and navigate to your. Library.
From the OpenTTD page, open the. Properties. window from the. Manage menu.
Select the. Betas. tab.
Select the version you would like to opt into.
Launch OpenTTD to play the game with its Beta changes.
@@MasterHellish-Gaming No version tells you it is version 13, but the one you want is "testing - Beta and RC versions"
When I did that, I got OpenTTD 13.0
