Glad I googled and came across your video. Great video and may I add, you saved me a few $$ making a DIY roller cleaner. I was going to purchase one (somewhat.....the same concept) on Amazon....but not for $30 bucks. Your idea cost me $3.00. The $27 I saved, went to a case a beer. Again, thanks.
Great video, may I add... Use a two bucket method...one empty one to pre spin the paint off and the other is full of water ,spin brush in bucket of water then remove place back in empty bucket and then spin dry
We used to make these and use them for our painting 40 years ago. But, young people need to learn the tricks of doing things from us guys who've been around the block a few times. LOL!!!
Interestingly, I made one of these a couple of weeks ago, to accommodate large diameter (about 2" or 2.25" inch) rollers, because regular 'Nap spinners don't seem to come with large dia options. Works superbly well, the only difference really is that I used pairs of nuts on the inside and outside of both ends to lock.
innovation noun [ C/U ] US /ˌɪn·əˈveɪ·ʃən/ a new idea or method, or the use of new ideas and methods: Raj not to rain on you but it’s not innovation. It is a good solution to DIY though. But this idea isn’t new. It’s taken from the “Dandy Pro” that does brushes and rollers. This only does rollers. Take into consideration the cost of the roller, a threaded rod, nuts and multiply it with the the amount of different roller diameters against the price of the original then there’s no money saved. I’d simply buy a “Dandy” with a guarantee, wait I did. Works flawlessly.
Good idea thinking of doing it I'm not being negative but I myself will use stainless steel because I think as it rusts it will run down into the rooler
You dont need to clean your roller every day, at the end of the day put paint on, remove it from the frame and wrap it up with plastic, it stays good for a couple of weeks.
All thread is pretty expensive. Not counting nuts, washers, and destroying a paint roller to make it. Not saying this isn't something I'd make if I had everyone laying around already but these can be bought already made for 10 or 11 bucks.
I figured out a way I like better and would love for you to make a video of it because it does not fit with my youtube channel niche. I leave the paint roller mounted on the handle and slide it off just enough to expose the hub near the handle. Then hold the chuck of my drill against it to spin. Hold the paint roller handle down over the lip of a 5 gal bucket for stability and splatter elimination. Expense = zero $ and zero time.
Alert! A misuse of "Dickie Doo" warning. The proper use of dicky do is when you tell somebody you have a Dickie Doo belly, and they ask what is that? You tell them that it's a belly that sticks out further than your dicky do!

Ha I had pretty much the same idea but the all thread is the final piece of the puzzle I hadn't figured out yet!!
Thank you
Attach the drill to the threaded rod so you don't have to thread the nuts by hand.
I was thinking the exact same thing
Excellent idea, genius!
Right. Put a box wrench on nut. Then rod in drill. Put drill in reverse and presto.
Or use vise grips on nut too control once the rod spins
Best idea I’ve seen all day.

Thanks absolutely right
fantastic video,
would not have thought of that in a million years.
thank you ever so much.

Thanks.....👍🏻

Beyond the "dikey doo" 😂 Im going to use your idea and phrase today. Thanks!
Thanks for the creative idea. I'm a 10 yr pro painter
I can't believe I just spent 7:20 watching a guy play with his nuts...
I say that's a really great innovation mate. I'm going to try it out when I get chance

@@stuarthay1 actually I was meant to say invention
What width is the threaded rod ? Guessing m10. Fancy trying this

Probably won’t be a problem if you let it dry good before storage. And don’t leave a wet roller cover on it. Probably.
All I can say is "WOW"!!!!!!
This is very smart.well done

It's really worth.
The hand spinners work fine with just a little oil added to the bearings.
At 2.57 put a drill on the end of the threaded bar and hold the nut.
Are you using the 12" cage still for the 18" rollers?
yes
Great idea thanks for sharing
Someone buy this guy a grinder
What was the size of the all thread?
1/4 I think

Good Idea, thanks
Do you remember what size/diameter of threaded rod?
3/8 I believe it'll also depend on what roller you use
That guys think they can "clean" anything is hysterical. I like the idea. It'll probably work...and rust...just like the roller spinner. So...

Why don’t you put the rod in your drill instead of turning it by hand to get the bolts on
Wasn't thinking to good at the time I guess
@@TheRiplb ok I’ve been there myself
Just saw that someone else made the same comment 9 months ago and here I thought I was being original lol
try cutting the rod to length first
Lol the dickydoo ur the man thanks
Experienced guy would cut rod away from hand holding it
it's called a roller cage
Thanks now everyone knows what I'm making.
Use ur drill to put nuts on. :)
This is awfully long......... That’s what she said!
We shared the same sentiment hahaha
to much trouble
"too".
