  • What's it like to fly on the world’s only ALL business class airline? When you fly La Compagnie, there isn’t a single economy or premium economy seat on the plane! Every single one of the 76 seats on this airplane is a business class seat. This 8-hour flight from Newark to Milan usually costs anywhere from $4,000-$6,000 roundtrip. But we paid much, much less! Find out exactly how much we paid, and how we scored this amazing deal on La Compagnie!

I've been flying business class for the past 15yrs give or take and I've come to appreciate a light(er) meals on relatively short (6-8hrs) transatlantic flights. Think about it: you're departing in the afternoon and you're arriving to your destination sometime in the middle of the night (at your place of origin time). Do you really want to stuff yourself with large portions of meat, fish and pasta during the nighttime? And then have a breakfast served just 3-4hrs later. Smaller and lighter meals will allow you to sleep better for the 2-4hrs you have to do so on the plane and arrive more refreshed to your destination. Going back to USA is a different story: you're flying in average for an hour longer and it's a daylight flight, so you can consume more food and still not feel stuffed. Just some "food for thought"...

i absolutely love La Compangie. Flew on their B757 plane back in 2017 to Paris. They didn't have the lie flat on those planes, had angled-flat, which were still comfortable. I see they've raised their prices a bit, but still a good price nonetheless. I definitely want to fly their new A321neo planes, and go to either Nice or Milan this time.
It's a bit disappointing that the food was blah. Looks like that took a hit, because the food on there used to be pretty good years ago.

From a European view, that is also a light dinner, but the portion size is FAR from being minuscule and "appetizer" feel. It may just be an American view since portion sizes there are so much bigger compared to European food.

I agree with you: The food on flights originating from North America is never as tasty as the one served on the way back, especially flying back from Asia, or Paris for instance. However, that your food was not heated up enough is not excusable. As for the size of your cup and glasses, as a European, I don't see anything wrong, but for Americans, everything has to be big :) That was a nice review, the first I ever watched about La Compagnie. I flew with them pre-pandemic EWR-ORY and back.
Strangely enough, I thought the catering out of EWR was better than that out of ORY - at least for special meals. I ate in the EWR lounge so the cold grilled vegetable platter I got on the flight was actually quite welcome. The dish I received on the return was hot, and, while edible, it wasn't as good.
I also flew EWR-CDG once on United in business and the catering was actually very good.
Best airline catering I've experienced was on Gulf Air out of Frankfurt. Yes, it was ever so slightly better than JAL First class out of HND food-wise as the lacto-ovo vegetarian mains were a bit of a miss - albeit everything else was outstanding. Beverage wise, JAL F was better - you can't beat the Salon 2007 Champagne.

There have been several attempts at a business-class only airline in the last two decades. None have made it. In part, despite the very attractive fares and services/amenities, they don’t participate in any of the major airline alliances, so any sort of frequent flyer program they had/have is limited to only that airline. Most professional travelers want to rack up the points and have flexibility with how they are used. These business-class carriers have to build a loyal base, attract as many casual flyers as possible, and hope for high load factors.

Glasses, plates, food etc. belong more to an european vision of what can be understood by "the size" of the things (in general). When I travel around in the US, I most often only order 1-2 starters and give a decent tip to the waiter since what you get on a plate or in a glass is, in my very opinion, meant for 2 people. Well...different countries, different habits. Anyway, thank you for the nice footage!!

@@TopFlightFamily Ok, I had a closer look at your video and...yes I trust you on this one. Breakfast would be ok on a Zurich-Barcelona with Swiss but not on such a long flight. Maybe I wrote that because I am still shocked by the US size of plates (but the food is always great)...or maybe because I am not so hungry today;-). Well...just kidding, looking forward to fly back to the US in 2023!!

What's up Top Flight Family! Thank you for introducing us to this airline! I've never heard of this airline as well. I like the all business class concept. Pretty cool, except for the "Needs Improvement" section on the report card 😄 C'mon, business class should be BUSINESS CLASS all around and not just how the seats are designed, especially for the price tag. But It's awesome that you guys were able to find such a fantastic deal and had such an amazing time in Italy. As usual, Be well, Be safe and Cheers! See u in the next adventure!

Thanks Sam! Yeah to be fair, they did set out to be a low cost carrier so that is definitely reflected in the food especially. But it’s still great value if you want to fly business for less!

Haha thanks! I do think there are low cost ways they could make the food more filling though. Like add a dollop of rice to every dish 😅 Low cost or not, you shouldn’t come off a business class flight absolutely starving!

I think some of your complaints are due to cultural differences. Smaller coffee cups/glasses are more desirable in Europe, compared to North America. Also, La Compagnie is in essence a "budget business class" airline, hence why some aspects (e.g. catering, bathroom decorations) have been simplified to offer business class flights at prices below the legacy carriers.

  • @myklepr82
    @myklepr82 Год назад

Even if they are “low cost”, I think the food should definitely be better. One thing I didn’t catch in the video is if you can keep the drinks coming and if you can order extra food or snacks for free.

I usually skip the second meal of the flight too because it’s too much. But the key is: you should have the choice to eat less lol. Nobody should walk off a business class flight feeling hungry!

Truly, a beautiful airline. But, for me - if a plane is *all business class*, it comes across as equity, rather than exclusivity. Even though, it's a highbrow airline. Interesting business experiment they use, I admire it nevertheless.
