I discovered ZIP Air a year ago. I traveled from LA to Japan by ANA, JAL, Singapore, etc., for between $4,000 to $8,000 round trip. Zip Air is so clever. I don't care about meals and entertainment monitors. I read a book, work with a laptop, and sleep. I always dislike when you have to close the windows😠. I want to windows to be open. And the price is unbelievable🤣. It is a bargain. I understand ANA will introduce their version of budget Air Line soon. I cannot wait. Great job, JAL!🎊
A lie flat seat for $1000, but no priority check-in, no lounge . That is fine as long as you can lie flat to sleep. That is 75-90% off ANA or JAL airlines (business class)
Totally agree with you! I always pay over $1000 from Las Vegas to Philippines for just an economy so I wouldn’t mind paying the same or a bit more without the lounge and priority check in as long as I can lie flat. I will have to give this airline a try specially my husband wanted to travel back in Japan again. Thanks for sharing this video and your experience with this airline it really helped 🥰❣️ Safe and happy travels at all times to you and your family 🥰 Looking forward for more videos❣️New subscriber here 🥰
Yeah, and if you have one or two of the premium credit cards (Chase, AMEX or Capital One) you can have lounge access anyway. I always have a hard time sleeping in economy or even economy plus seats. My wife is from the Philippines also, and for $1,000 to Japan, with a short flight to Cebu...it would be great just for the option to sleep lying down. We will most def check this out next year when we go back to the Philippines. I was looking at Starlux Airlines, but that ticket is over %k, which in still at least 2k cheaper than all the other Asian airlines we would normally fly @@krinalex2
I never really understood priority boarding because everyone leaves at the same time when the plane takes off, your seats are already assigned. This is always been a weird concept to me
Whenever I have flown on 787, I have always preferred the digital window shades as the crew can control it remotely (and you don’t have that 1 passenger with open window/ bright light in the middle of the “night”). With that said, my dimmed windows were always far darker than what you have demo’d.
Thank you so much for sharing this! Never heard of this airline, but I think I like this, except for the lack of an actual window-shade. That said, prices seem quite reasonable, and I'm definitely adding ZIPAir to our list of airlines to try, so long as we pre-book meals and amenities.
Yeah the hard product definitely gets a 10 out of 10! State of the art seats and the cabin has a really nice look. And the crew was great too! Obviously the service they provide is limited since it’s not a traditional business class experience, but all our interactions with them were very pleasant and professional!
if you use a soft bag like a duffle bag which is a little bigger than the definition of the size (25x35x45cm) but it is soft enough to fit into their go-no-go cage if they have one, would it count as ok to use?
Ok this video was so informative. I’d never heard of this airline but I’d totally fly them to Japan or Hawaii. And I feel like they stripped away the things that sometimes aren’t worth the extra money…mediocre meals, amenity kits and pjs I’ll never use again etc. Good to know to about the windows. I’d definitely bring an eye mask on board but all that sun isn’t good for the skin either. Anywho really liked this video!
Hey Brea thank you so much! Yes I think for most people flying business class, the number one thing they want is the large seat. So ZipAir def delivers on that! You just won’t get the luxe experience in any other aspect. But as long as you go into it prepared, I think this is great value!
Vpn and wifi is usually a no go for me it rarely works and if you have an iPhone sometimes you have to go into settings and turn off “limit ip tracking” which sucks. Another thing I’ve had to do was turn on “low data mode” if the wifi was really bad.
This might seem like a weird question, but... I see the seats can be in "take off" mode (ie sitting up straight) and that the seats can lie flat. Can I assume that you can position the seat so that it has a significant recline but is not actually flat? And in-between setting? Thank you!
Hey TopFlight. You are right. Never heard of Zipair. Budget airline with a business class. Cool 😎. Everything a la carte. And you inflate your own neck support. Omg. That cheese ravioli looked terrible. I thought the 3 green areas was mold but guess it was basil 🌿🤷🏻♀️? And lacks presentation. Oh well. You made the rest of it. Sorry about the flood. At least Serge met up with you Sean & Ella after handling that catastrophe. That’s for sharing and see you next video.
Thanks for the review. Biggest problem with going ZIPAir out of LAX is that the plane leaves around 9AM, which defeats the purpose of getting a lie-flat seat. Also, even though ZIP flies to numerous cities in Asia, there was no option on their website (that I could find) of booking a through ticket out of LAX to one of their other Asian destinations.
Interesting to hear your report that a bottle of water and standard meal weren’t included. Other Zip Air vlogs I’ve seen have indicated these two items were part of their purchase. I’m considering them for my next Japan trip, so I’ll pay close attention. Girls gave cute descriptions.
I will tell you about my experience when when I have it next year in November when we return from Tokyo I’ve been told about downloading and preparations before flying with this Airlines. It does intrigue me.
Hey What's up Top Flight Family!!! So good to see you guys!!! First off, Carmen you are too funny with the drum roll with your "FAN FAVORITE"😆😆 and thank you for your transparency on being WIFI illiterate on the airplanes. You had me rollin'. I enjoyed myself watching this video! And I see where Ella gets her sense of humor from, YOU, with her bathroom tour and the "BIG POOP" handle on the wall...Waaay 2 funny!😆😆😆 I love the Sean and Ella segments. They always bring us the real with their commentary. Those two can sell ice to an Eskimo! When you got to the pricing of a ticket on this airline, I thought sure you were gonna say a ticket was $17.50/person🤣🤣 You get nothing but a ride. C'mon, until now, I've never heard of a BYO Bag lunch airline. Talk about Ala carte'😆But I'm so glad that you guys showcased this airline because those prices are really not bad at all considering it's round trip over seas!! Wanna shout out Serge for staying behind to handle that business! I'm so sorry that happened to you guys and I'm glad he made it to be with the family!! Well I've been waaay long winded, sorry! Thank you guys so much for all that you do for us and as always, be well, be safe and cheers!!!
Hey Sam always great to see you here! And yea lol I don’t think I even realized “fan favorite” was a pun until I went back to rewatch it while editing lol
Thank you for your great tips. I always wanted to go to Japan but was afraid of the long flight time. This interested me, so I was checking ZIPAIR leaving from LAX to Japan. But it cost US$6,841.46 for two people :( . Do you have any other airline that you can recommend? Thanks again for sharing!
Interesting and refreshing perspective on the travel vlog. Super lame not to have bedding - it's not a park bench lol. At least have the option. I feel boarding a "J" cabin with my sleeping bag, lunch box, PS5 and whatever else they don't give you is a silly way to go. Plus no points or loyalty - but the price is pretty sweet, especially when considering a fam of 4.
Our family is going to Japan in March and was wondering when is the best time to book. I’m trying to look at predictions of costs but I’m getting up about 2000+ round-trip per person.
I’m trying to book 2 of those flat seats and it will only give me a window for one and below it. Need to book 2, but It says there are three available, but it only allows me to set select one and then shows everything else at the standard price.
Thinking of taking Zip this snowboard season from LAX- Tokyo as well. I was wondering, how tall is Surge?? Curious to see if he was comfortable lying all the way flat and was he able to get any sleep? Also really loved you and your family’s energy and review. This is the first video of yours I’ve seen and you have me sold. I’ll take the 2k savings any day. Also you got a new follower thanks guys ✌🏾😊
Just a heads up if you are prone to getting headaches when flying take a decongestant about 20 minutes before take off and make sure you're loading up on a lot of potassium the liquid IV or anything that can help you hydrate prior to getting on the plane so when you're sporting the plane you're well hydrated. Just a tip from flight attendant school.
I prefer the blind windows, the electronic dimmer window's have a drawback when the flight crew lock the dimmer option during cruise mode., awesome flight review there you three !🛫👍 BTW: That was awesome bonus to hear the children's flight review version too!.
Haha the last flight I went on (not ZipAir), two different flight attendants were like, omg I have that fan too! You know that if it’s cabin crew approved, it’s legit! 😅 Glad you’re enjoying it!
I am 6'6" and over 300 pounds. I fly Business Class as a practice simply for more legroom, shoulder and hip room. I don't necessarily need "fold flat". I can't use them anyway since I'm too tall. The nicer presentation of food with glass and metal is nice, but I could go without it - save weight for the plane. The problem is that Business is expensive and economy is HELL. They stuff people into economy and they have issues. If they simply gave the entire flight more space, they wouldn't need the added mass of the business class pods. You'd have less passengers total, but it would also cost less to operate the plane. I personally prefer the A380 and A350. The 777x and 777 are preffered in the middle east due to the warm climates which kill lift for planes taking off. These are large, expensive jets to operate and they barely break even.
Yes and the hard product for ZipAir is top-notch, so that was impressive. If you score a deal and go into it prepared, I do think it can be good value!
Thank you for a very helpful review! Like you, I could never figure out Wi-Fi on a plane until I learned that you have to stay ON “airplane mode” then choose the airline Wi-Fi option. Then open your default browser, few questions will pop up then just press connect. 😊
I traveled between Japan and US many times with various airlines for decades. ZipAir's Full Flat would be my favorite. Why do I have to spend money on a big entertainment screen, movies and music, fancy meals, and champagne? I just want a comfy full flat seat with individual personal space. I can read books, work on a computer with or without WiFi, meditate, or get some rest. Time flies. Another favorite of ZipAir is that Windows can go from transparent to opaque. Some may don't appreciate it, but I agree. I hate when Flight attendance asks to close the windows. It is my choice whether close it or open it. And last, you get bargain prices from LA to Tokyo. I paid $2,800 for the round trip. But I am happy to compare other major airlines' business classes. With that said, I hope the Full Flat class should be the Premium Economy for Japan Air Lines. I used the Premium Economy class with JAL, ANA, and Singapore Air. They are a scam with the price they're asking for with no-big-deal seats. They should call Economy Plus. Thank you so much for your review. You have a beautiful family.🥰
The dimmable windows have different grades of shade from light shade which you have to the completely BLACK shade which blocks out almost all light. You need to push the button several times instead of holding it down which might not work. ANA airlines have them and I can completely out the windows.
Yeah the ones on this aircraft were extremely unresponsive/delayed. And the clip I showed where I had to block the window with the pillow - that was as a result of the cabin crew dimming the windows for the entire cabin for sleep. So I’m sure that’s as dark as it could go. I’m not a fan. Give me an old fashioned window shade any day!
I haven't flown on ZipAir but flown on 787s a couple times with ANA; I don't have a problem with the window shaders. I don't usually eat on flights so the lack of meals isn't a concern for me. I'll have to try this airline on my next trip to Nihon.
New sub. YT just recommended your channel to me, im glad they did haha. I wish they fly out of San Diego ugh. Im not a fan of LAX LOL I rather fly from Sd it’s easier and less of a hassle but thanks for the review.
How exactly did you get a sale on an airplane ticket? As far as I've ever seen, airplane tickets don't "go on sale," since they're constantly overbooked and have no need to ever offer discounts.
Sign up for services like Going, The Flight Deal, Ashley Gets Around. They email you when they find fare sales. There’s usually a free version and a premium version. And there’s often a separate version that’s just for business class and first class flights. If you’re not skilled at using points and miles to fly, this is the next best way to save big on premium flights. It’s how we book most of ours.
@@TopFlightFamilyon the many 787 flights I've been on, the windows are locked full dark during flight to help people sleep. So it's definitely strange it's no full dark on Zip air. I just recently flew LAX to LHR on a day flight with a window seat and had no issues with the light coming through as it was locked full dark after meal service all the way to arrival breakfast.
We flew a KLM flight from SFO to Amsterdam last June, and I hated the digital window. We had no control over them the entire flight. They darkened them and the lights all the way down an hour after take off, which was 4:30pm pacific, until 1 hour before landing, so we couldn't see anything out of the windows for the majority of the flight. It meant that when you're flying over interesting places, you missed them. No peeking at sunsets or sunrises or Greenland or Iceland. It just felt weird. Also we didn't sleep the whole time because it was so hot on that flight, and with the dark windows, it contributed to a sort of claustrophobic feeling as well.
I’m just trying to not be cramped for 12 hours…I wanna sleep and lounge ❤I don’t need the extra stuff. Just a basic meal and drinks. And I would love to travel with kids one day y’all are goals ❤❤❤
With the internet, most free WiFi will let you connect but you need to open your web browser to accept the connection. If you back out/turn off your phone for long periods of time you will need to accept through your browser again. Just a quick simple step but that should get you access to WiFi (if its not down). This is the steps for most free WiFi acess points in japan, there is actually an app that will do these steps for you. as well for the setup for WiFi on the Shinkansen. Hope this helps with those pesky(usually slow) free WiFi. Thank you for the amazing review. Cant wait for ANA version as well and hopefully they will have a service from Seattle (where i live).
It's now $2994 for the same full flat seat, roundtrip flight from LA to Tokyo, and same addons. This is for a flight booked 3 months in advance leaving at the end of February and coming back 1 month later at the end of March. These airlines are getting greedy.
Don't you think it would be important to mention lie-flat shares restrooms with all 280 passengers? I found this out only through dumb luck. While I won't be flying Zipair due to this, I found your videos excellent with the one major omission.
The economy seats are *stupidly* cheap, a really great deal, but I don't know if I could deal with the discomfort for an overnight flight to Japan. Traveling that far is hard enough, I think I'll gladly opt for the full flat seats. Also your kids are so funny! I loved their segment.
I wish i have a job like you…travelling to different places😢 i can only afford economy class and my family and i van only travel like every other year ans sometimes once every 2 years..
THANK YOU for pointing out the TERRIBLE IDEA of the shades on the new Boeing planes. My trip to Bora Bora will be on a 787 and I'm not excited at all. Their business class is 2x2x2. I prefer the A380's 1x2x1.
Ugh I hate these dimmable windows with a passion. Especially since I just took another flight with these same windows. They don’t even work. Like you push the button to dim and then nothing happens for like, 5-10 minutes. It’s terrible idea all around.
If you don't mind me asking, how tall is your husband. I ask because I'm tall at 6'3" (190.5cm), and I'm curious if your husband is tall, and if so, how comfortable was he in the reclined/lay flat mode. What about foot room as well when flat? I wear a us size 13 (EU 46), and would hate to find out my feet wouldn't fit.
That is interesting that you can see the wing. It would seem that you are in the front of the plane, and the wing would be behind you. I wonder, what is up with that? Anyways...I subscribed. Cool video, and helpful for people researching travel options 😁
I wish they flew out of western Canada! I paid about the same for direct flight with Westjet from Calgary to Narita in economy. Most uncomfortable flight ever, will not do a long haul flight again without lay down seats 😬
this video is so helpful! I've always been so skeptical of this airline but really want to travel again and the price tag for a lay flat seat is so tempting! Just need to think if it's worth it with no entertainment and just ok food lol.
well, since they provide power plugs for every seat, and unlimited free wifi for the whole flight, it shouldn't be much of a problem. Just use your own scren and watch whatever you want.
13:41 - My number one travel tip, or should I say number two?!?! Here it is, be prepared and plan properly so you never, ever, ever have to take that big poop on an airplane. It's not like airport bathrooms are any great throne to brag about but it is probably best to avoid having to go number two on an airplane.
They can actually darker more than this (I guess there are broken), but still not that much. The new 777x and tbe a350 dimmed completely and it looks like a black hoel in it! The only bad is that all this new generation are crew control. But still, a new plane ks a new plane! Excellent video!
11:3615:18 $1000 for a lay-flat-seat for an 11-hr flight? Don’t care if their $0 WiFi is sporadic. I’m booking Zipair!! Also, I’m ordering the hand-pump neck pillow
Oh I’m painfully aware of that lol. That’s why I dedicate a whole segment of this video ranting about why these electronically dimmable windows suck so much.
I've flown on numerous airliners since the 1950's and also on a handful of B787's and I am not a fan, Its very noisy ,I don't like the window blinds as you mentioned, the economy seat in three airlines was awful, A British airline and two Asian airlines. I much prefer an Airbus 330 /350 /380 or a B 777 . I'll have to see if Zip fly to Europe for their lie flat cabin. I usually fly on a legacy airline.
When you’re done with this video, watch our ANA The Room business class review here: ruclips.net/video/C3C4oULZR4I/видео.html
At the end you mention the airlines that the food is worth experience. Is that video this one? • Avoid This HUGE ANA The Room MISTAKE!

Flying in a lay down seat 👍 wondering what size carry on is allowed? Thank you
You can get priority checkin using express service and tsa precheck was included for my flight from hnl

I love the dimmable windows on the 787!
I checked their website. It gives prices for very few dates. Do the only fly a few times, every other month???
How can I book the flat seats? It doesn’t allow me on the site?
Can I ask how far out you booked your seats? they seem to sell out fast
How many bags do you get for the premium option ? I see you get a checked and a carry on, but do you also get a personal item ? So 3 in total ?
Thank you very much for this review!!

Wow thank you for the information awesome video ❤❤❤
Thank you for watching!
About to fly out from SJC next week on zipair full flat. I’ll remember a eye mask😂
Thank you for your review.
Thank you for a very helpful review! Like you, I could never figure out Wi-Fi on a plane until I learned that you have to stay ON “airplane mode” then choose the airline Wi-Fi option. Then open your default browser, few questions will pop up then just press connect. 😊
Excellent review. Thank you!
Great video with some good tips!! Thank you!! The kids are beautiful 🤩 “it’s my time to shine!” Haha
I'll have to try this airline on my next trip to Nihon.
amazing high tech looking seats...and great personal space for them long flights.
New sub. YT just recommended your channel to me, im glad they did haha. I wish they fly out of San Diego ugh. Im not a fan of LAX LOL I rather fly from Sd it’s easier and less of a hassle but thanks for the review.
Don’t get me started on LAX lol. I hate it too 😅 Yeah hopefully they’ll expand their routes soon!
7:03 the window can go much darker but the Zip Air likely has locked out that functionality for whatever reason.
Oh that’s interesting!
Can you try Air Canada signature class??
We’ll add it to the list!
We wanted to try it but there weren't ever any seats available for our dates 😢
I Havent Experience ZipAir Yet.Great Trip Report
Thanks!
Awesome review!!! 👏🏻👏🏻
Great video guys 🥳
Every 787 window I have experienced went to full blackout
not me, in the brigh sun, you can still see the sun
Round trip?
Don't you think it would be important to mention lie-flat shares restrooms with all 280 passengers? I found this out only through dumb luck. While I won't be flying Zipair due to this, I found your videos excellent with the one major omission.
The economy seats are *stupidly* cheap, a really great deal, but I don't know if I could deal with the discomfort for an overnight flight to Japan. Traveling that far is hard enough, I think I'll gladly opt for the full flat seats.
Also your kids are so funny! I loved their segment.
Solid info missy😉
Thanks so much for the info
Still seems to be much better than Air Canada signature class.
That is interesting that you can see the wing. It would seem that you are in the front of the plane, and the wing would be behind you. I wonder, what is up with that? Anyways...I subscribed. Cool video, and helpful for people researching travel options 😁
Answering my own question...I guess the wing is behind you and the engine sits in front of the wing a little bit. Interesting. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing your trip.
Pause
I wish they flew out of western Canada! I paid about the same for direct flight with Westjet from Calgary to Narita in economy. Most uncomfortable flight ever, will not do a long haul flight again without lay down seats 😬
Bathroom review with the Super Mario Bro's music FTW!
this video is so helpful!
This family is so cute and hilarious. You know they are all related as soon as they open their mouths. They are so cute
It’s Ella’s time to shine!! 😂😂
🤣🤣 she needed her moment!
Good info
They can actually darker more than this (I guess there are broken), but still not that much. The new 777x and tbe a350 dimmed completely and it looks like a black hoel in it! The only bad is that all this new generation are crew control. But still, a new plane ks a new plane! Excellent video!
11:36 15:18 $1000 for a lay-flat-seat for an 11-hr flight? Don’t care if their $0 WiFi is sporadic. I’m booking Zipair!! Also, I’m ordering the hand-pump neck pillow
maaaan.. those girls living their best life lol.
With wifi you does have log in and put in info sometimes
True
did i not see toilet paper in the bathroom or did i miss it? 🥺
Oh there was definitely toilet paper! 😂 Don’t worry - that’s one thing you don’t have to BYO (bring your own)
No In flight entertainment for such a long flight?? Nah
😂😂 Yeah I guess they just expect you to bring a good book lol
Yep! I hate those dimmable windows on the 787. Just a gimmick.
787 only has digital blind, not the physical one from airbus.
Oh I’m painfully aware of that lol. That’s why I dedicate a whole segment of this video ranting about why these electronically dimmable windows suck so much.
16:03 TLDW- $2028.34 for each ticket. Thank me later
And shout out to all those people dropping fat dumps midair. 13:42
That food looks horrendous 😮😮😮
I've flown on numerous airliners since the 1950's and also on a handful of B787's and I am not a fan, Its very noisy ,I don't like the window blinds as you mentioned, the economy seat in three airlines was awful, A British airline and two Asian airlines. I much prefer an Airbus 330 /350 /380 or a B 777 . I'll have to see if Zip fly to Europe for their lie flat cabin. I usually fly on a legacy airline.
Why is the airline website so dark 😂. I’m like I can’t find anything why is it green 😂
are they part of one world ?
