I'm still torn. She did have a few cringey moments but I can't tell if it was her fault or not. I think she did well in her action scenes (except for the stupid "AHHHHHHHHH" downward punch that somehow turned into an uppercut) but the emotional scenes were definitely a little corny.
It’s the writers fault. Her writings and scripts are what butchered the actress’ character.

PERSONALLY I did not find America too cringe. There were definitely some weak moments and lines that could be viewed as cringey but honestly I absolutely love America Chavez. She's actually a wonderful actor for only 16 years old and you really can't blame her for bad writing.

It was the first time she was appearing, people didn't care so much about her and she was receiving all the attention throughout the movie. The reason we didn't care enough about the Illuminati dying is the same reason we didn't care for America: no relation was built with the audience previously with the characters. So, yeah, I have no simpathy for her, cuz I don't know she is.
