her powers are very interesting, beautiful, aesthetic and unique! The star form of her portals is so awesome. Makes her also a unique person in the whole universe bc there's no other America Chavez, which led to ask myself if she's also a Nexus being.

The story telling was out of place, they didn’t build her character there was no attachment or anything honestly it was so disconnected but very cool character w potential

Honestly it was brought to my notice by The Canadian Lad, but I love the detail that when she stamped on the building ledge, it fell out in a star shape. That and the containment chambers later means everything she hits is hit by a star shape, not just interdimensional barriers.

Great actress but unfortunately, I felt like they tried to do too much with this movie that we didn’t get to know her more and become attached to her. Perhaps another movie or series will expand upon her character.
My impression was that this movie was just introducing her to the MCU and they're gonna do more with her later on. The seeds are there to make her interesting but they didn't do anything with it.
Dude, the movie is called Doctor Strange, not America Chavez. Then she could have her own movie.
Of course not you already have Doctor Strange the lead character and you have Wanda the lead villain there wasn’t much time to go in depth with America however I do feel we got just enough to keep us interested and to look out for her in the future phases.

@@maou-sama4015 Yes but plenty of side characters have been introduced in films dedicated to pre-existing characters. For example, Civil War introduced two new heroes, Spider-man and Black Panther. I think Peter's characterization was very good in Civil War but you could argue we already understood him, but T'Challa was introduced beautifully and had a whole arc in the film. Compared to that, what America Chavez got in MoM is a pretty big letdown. Hope she gets fleshed out more later, because right now there's very little to her character.

Fight Scene --> Calm for like 5 minutes --> Fight Scene again. Like please just give me a break for a bit longer it just isn't cool seeing non stop fighting especially when the enemy is so overpowered to the point where it's a horror movie. But the problem is they gave us too much of Scarlet Witch that she didn't look as terrifying as time progresses. I still like the horror take of it though, not something you see a lot in superhero movies

Wow Xochitl was 16 when she stared in this movie. Personally, I think she struck gold to find a role that she will be remembered at such a young age. Crazy to think there are actors in their 30s and older still looking for that project that will make them famous.

I’m sure most of you probably know this. But America was originally going to appear in Spider-Man No Way Home. In The Multiverse of Madness was supposed to come out before that film. America was gonna be carried over into No Way Home and she was gonna be the one who eventually learned how to open the portals and stuff. But when COVID happened and they moved all the Phase 4 release dates, they moved In The Multiverse of Madness to come out after No Way Home. So the story for both films changed. America’s planned role in No Way Home was then given to Ned

The actress was decent but the character just felt undewhelming. She's the archetypical young person with great power that she can't control until it's convenient at the climax of the movie. It wouldn't be such a big deal if she didn't have such a major role in the movie.

@@jesseowenvillamor6348 If it worked for you then I am glad. For my part I felt that America was sadly underdeveloped. It makes sense that she's apprehensive about her powers after her mothers' fate, but that the thing she needed to hear to get over that apprehension is: "Hey kid, try believing in yourself *wink*" is very poor writing. If what was keeping her from being able to control her abilities was trauma from what she accidentally did to her parents then the idea that all she needed to hear was a cliche pep talk about believing in herself then that's a massive disservice to her character and a disservice to movie audiences as well, since the MCU has been able to deal with mental health struggles like trauma and loss much better in the past. America's arc was an opportunity to deal appropriately with trauma, grief and self-doubt and begin to show how someone heals from these things-instead the message the film communicated is that all you need to get over these things is a non-specific pep talk about believing in yourself.
You're ultimately right though, it's okay. It doesn't matter all that much it's just a movie. Still, I hope America is given better characterization in the future.
