She knew she was controlling them but thought they were just peacefully sleeping or something. She didn't know they were self-aware or that they could feel her emotions and were being psychologically tortured because of it. 3: When Wanda finds out she is torturing the Westview residents she is horrified and immediately opens the Hex to free them.
