    I have a king suspension system. on my 2018 4runner. I live in Washington state. It often rains here. So the trails become muddy and wet. I got kings because I wanted the best shock to go offroad on. Shocks that were durable.
    Sadly, recently, my suspension system started squeaking. An offroad shop told me. Here they see that happen on many rigs running kings. They believe the king system is great but more for a drier climate. Especially if one is going to go offroad.

    Which of these setups would you recommend for the following criteria- 2018 TRD OR used mostly as a daily and the rest of the time on moderate fire roads/light wheeling. I'd like to be sitting around 3" above factory height. KDSS is on its way out and I'm inclined to rip out the system as opposed to repairing it (so I assume I'd be looking at compression adjustment with the sway bars removed). Thanks for the breakdown video!

      Bilstein 4600 or 5100 would the be closest thing toa TRD OR. Bilstein 6112 and 5160 would be the closest on older TRD Pro equipped with Bilstein. TRD Pro Equipped with Fox would be closest to OME BP51.

Which shock would you recommend to replace Xreas and are best to control on road spirited daily driving body roll. Cost is not a factor as long as they are reliable. What results can one expect? I am really looking into the bp 51 for my Lexus gx460. What do you recommend for me as I have no experience other than researching and finding extensive information like you have provided.
    1.)I want to every day drive in comfort, I travel cross country for business.
    2.) Ide like to be more comfortable than my stock suspension
    3.) I plan to tow in some scenarios, ide like to be able to do that.
    4.) I want longevity, would like the shocks to last 5-10 yrs
    5.) I drive daily in rough roads like washboards everyday in west Virginia
    6.) I plan to use them for when I am not daily driving to off road.
    What do you recommend? Money is not an issue for me.
    Also do you recommend I use air bags for towing as well?
    Lastly, what is a fair install price?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  2 года назад +2

      Most will require services and that is something we suggest everyone do if you're doing anything remotely outside day-to-day driving. The BP51 is probably the best all-around and gear for more like an overland setup. These do require you to service them just like any performance shock. Currently, you can only get this done from ARB directly whom is located in Auburn, WA. The great thing about the BP51 is the adjustability to really fine-tune your suspension based on your current needs. Air bags are nice and if you're towing, often, that can help out. Contact us directly via phone or email and we'll help steer you in the right direction.

      We don't have the exact OEM specs but they should be around 550 lbs. give or take.
      We don't have any update on Iron man Foam Cells Pro quite yet but we expect to see a huge difference because Eibach and Bilstein used oil and nitrogen that is separated between a valve while Iron Man uses Foam Cell which is a Foam that is injected with Nitrogen. In the Iron Man setup, the foam will expand and compressed based on the vehicle's driving condition.

    Great video. Question about servicing them, with minimal serious off-roading, how often do I have to take them off to service?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  Год назад +1

      You will probably need service around the 35-40k mile mark on something like a Fox, King, or Icon. Usually it is around 50k for strictly street, so if you are not beating on it too hard or too frequently off-road you will not see too much of a decrease in life expectancy. With that said you can likely get away with double those miles on something like a Bilstein or OME before they need to be serviced or replaced. Their seals often can not take abuse and temps of the other brands, but they last a heck of a lot longer under more moderate conditions.

      If you're keeping this 2" or under, the stock ones are fine. 2" are more you should get a UCA, and 3" or more if you have to get a UCA. Then any 2.5 series shocks requires a new UCA if you ever considered going into any of those.

      Fox 2.0 coilover and shocks - $1200
      Eibach Pro Truck Stage 2 coilover and shocks - $1100
      Bilstein 6112 struts and 5100 shocks - $950 unassembled, $ 1100 assembled.
      Icon 2.5 CDCV coilover and shock - $3500 (can be cheaper if you remove the CDCV)
      King coilover and shocks - $3000 (can be more expensive if you want adjustment and/or extended travel)
      Bilstein 8112 and 8100 - $4000
      Old Man Emu BP51 coilover and shocks - $2800
      However if you build it and need like UCA, or rear spring, or other parts they w ill add additional on top of these base prices. Check our website and plug in your vehicle, you can see all these kits listed and t heir current price,.
