Agreed
I'm still waiting for the first V12 TDi with modified turbos...
same
Not even watched and the answer is yes, yes you should
EDIT: Having watched the whole video, still think the V12 is the way to go. Is it practical? No, but then show cars are never practical. In the end you’d have something mad to show what’s possible that can be handy on the drag strip/track/drift course (yes, diesel drifting, you know it makes sense)
It does actually...the torque spins the wheels no problem...makes sense to not overrev the engine to save it from breaking
it's a pretty big thing in norway to drift with diesels i believe
Lowered like Keith’s, but not slammed, with a v12 and interior 👌🏻😍
Defo v12 tdi engine slammed on air i think rotiforms in a nice teal colour nice quilted bentley leather fully dynomatted suede interior led head lining look awesome full led face lift with vitual dash 😍😍😍
And a cherry bomb exhaust for giggles 😂
V12 TDI racetruck? Radiator in the back, caged and gutted interior. Rollbar in the bed, ford 9” rear end and so on… would be SICK.
Drift truck is the only way
Keep the long bed, could always put the rads I'm the bed if they don't fit up front with the v12
Love the idea, and i would add roof scoop to force air into rads!
You should bag the single cab, best of both worlds, drivable to shows but you can air out and park her up at shows!
Yes... because no one else in the world will have one. So it is the perfect thing to show off what you guys can do.
Yes!!! I’ve been dreaming about a Touareg v10 swap for mine for a while!
I've not even got more then 5 seconds in and all I have to say is YES! I also already hit that like button because it's such a good idea. You know it will be one of a kind.
R34 Midnight purple has to be the hardest colour to spray. If memory serves me right there's no given quantity for the amount of red glitter to mix in which is what makes it so hard to get right.
Yep will have that! Imagine this with that engine and the off road chunky tyres sitting along side the tourareg. Definitely needs some darkside development graphics 👍🏼😁
Do it mate it will be not only epic which is obvious, but it will show what you guys can achieve as a build stand point.
Mad paint, V12 and dropped. Bring back the minitruck scene. 🤘🏼
Hi Ryan, the rattling noise that you can hear which sounds like it is coming for around the top of the dash area could actually be the front inner plastic guards vibrating as you drive along the road. I had a 2013 Amarok 2.0 TDI 420 8spd 4 motion trend line model fitted with a tray back. Mine sounded like a coin rattling in a tin can, very tinny sound. I live in Australia and after driving on our crappy roads (especially the dirt roads) I found that the inner plastic guards were rubbing on the sheet metal, and the mechanics simply removed them and put in some foam strips with self adhesive tape, toy could see where they had been rubbing. I found it by just gently tapping around the front inner guards. Once they put the tape in it was back to being as quiet as it had been from new. And yes. Go with the v12 motor, everyone is dying to see it happen! Can’t wait for the next few episodes to see how it goes! Good luck with it👍
I'll check!
V12 yes please some thing interesting and exciting to see come together can't wait
Short bed, your lowering suspension, british racing green & 4.2l V8 ... would be perfect 🤤 + twin tires on the back would be a dream 😋
Burnt tangerine candy orange one of the best colours Iv seen on a car
Perfect home for the V12! I love the idea of doing a proper show truck that you can still drive there and run at the drags. I’d go super fancy on the paint like some candy and gold flake maybe some “kustom” type body work. Put it on Air suspension and 18-20” wheels for that real low rider look.
The Unicorn 🦄 as we call them here in oz. You have already made your mind up, do it. My wife is from South Kirby which I dont think is too far from you guys. Id love to come in and see the projects next time we are back in the UK.
We are buying some land in Kirkby, small world!
Metallic mint green...slammed on the floor...big arsed body kit on it....and a 1.9 TDI pushed to the max.....put the v12 into the R8!!!
I definitely think you should go down the showcar path. Then get the guys to paint it in BMW Individual Wildberry just for the extra work :D
Great video, V12 sounds like a plan - you could lengthen a double cab chassis and put the full length bed on the back...
The shortie pick ups look cool though too, so many option!
Massive power & torque with no weight over the back wheels.
F1 slicks and a tonne of sand in the back😂?
Put the old engine in the load bed. 🤣
Amarok V12 TDI sounds amazing.
Whatever it will be i'm looking forward to this project.
Single cab pickups always the better looking and more useful too
Yes, sure you need to!
Regarding single cabs we got lots of them in Norway. But they're "never" for sale.
Holy crap - you must have the only one that was ever sold here in Ausr. I'm an Amarok fan and I never knew these existed :)
Basically transplant the Audi mechanicals to the VW chassis including suspension. May require an angle grinder on the chassis rails. If the suspension is on subframes, maybe adapt the chassis to accept those. Stick in the ZF gearbox you mentioned. Assuming the Audi is on air springs and adaptive shocks, use them. Air tank in the load bed.
Not sure how much difference there is in interior width, but maybe transplant a chunk of the interior also, if possible.
Wildest ute in Barnsley. Happy days.
😃😃👍
Needs to be full cleetus mullet spec but the UK version
Watching from South Africa... Firstly, yes! V12 TDI for the win but I'm like we have a lot of these single cab versions of the Amarok this side, could have gotten one this side in less time but hey you got the pick up. I wanna see the outcome of this craziness either way!
That should be a good project maybe I can copy in here in Australia
Hell yea wanna see gains !!!!
I'd say lift it , and v12
Would be killer.
A vw pickup sleeper
Merlin purple would look amazing
Look into using a Toyota hilux D4D gearbox. Works well with Big motor applications
Keep the long bed and go mid engine! That way you've got all that weight between the front and rear tires and can keep the 8hp with a short driveshaft.
Before watching: the answer is yes. If it does not fit, there is room enough in the bed!
After watching: still the same answer. 3 turbo's and a V12, that would get people's atention... maybe the engine in the bed with a trans-axle wouldn't be a bad idea for weight over the rear.
For paint maybe something retro like a "Chevrolet C/K (third generation)" sceme with the white stripe/band on the side (wiki the "truck name") for an example. But than use some fancy modern colours. I'd keep the beatup look it's rocking now but I'm one for the @16:00 look :)
Yes, with 2 huge dirty turbos 🤩 let's see what that engine can do!
Nah the V12 is not worth it is way to heavy, Put a 4.0 TDI in
Swap the q7 engine, wheels and adapt the center console and front seats. Would look nice i'd say lot of work but save on parts
Lost the sound about 21:00
Although the V12 TDI would be a "cool" build, I wonder if the drivability won't be a million times worse. Huge, heavy lump at the front, single cab and a light rear end. Will that not be undrivable if heavily tuned?
Alternatively, a dual V6 TDI setup could be interesting if you put the second one behind the cab. You've got extra space there anyway.
Just use the 340hp/800nm V8 TDi from the Touareg, more than enough power especially with a remap = 400bhp/1000nm
You have valid points but I think the goal is impracticality. In short he should stick a V12 TDI innit
Game changer, double cab with an extended chassis and the long bed. But with the v12 tdi 👌
Right. I think the v12 in. Turbos where you can see them. (Sand dune style). Quite low and wide maybe but keep it RWD. And a must is a American style stack exhaust. It will be alot or work but it will be a show piece that can go aswell. A little sticker on it some where that says no replacement for displacement 😁😁
Easiest question to answer ever, absolutely yes
Yes yes get the V12 tdi in it the brake upgrade and slam it can't wait to follow the build
V12. Needs a side exit or USA style stack exhaust too because that adds at least 200 lbs feet (maybe)
Make it ridiculously hard for yourselves, put the engine on the bed, rwd, with a clear engine cover over it with side air intakes. Would look cool asf and a perfect showcar.
There are not enough thumbs on my body to put up for V12ing the truck.😂🤣
Slammed short bed v12 tdi sounds like a plan!!
Yes to the V12! Also, Renault's Liquid Yellow would look smart on it and definitely get some attention at shows😏
Lowered show truck 👌
Best colour to do in my opinion will be bmw atlantis blue it’s such a nice colour
Also yes v12
Slammed, wheels tucked, dual rear wheels, and giant stacks! Model it after like an old school slammed semi truck
El Camino/cleetus copy, V8, big turbos, Micky tees on the back 😎
Harlequin it for paint that would be a talking point
YES, looking forward to this project.
Go for it with the V12, air ride to lower it and make it drivable and a flip/chameleon paint job, or trophy truck style but still with the v12. Remember the V12 is limited to the 1000nm because thats the limit of the gearbox not the engine.
Renault acid yellow is the colour that needs to be.... v12 swapped won't find another like it if you go that way 💯👌
It makes sense to me to V12 swap it and make it a pure drag car. It would be a good marketing tool to show off your shops skills. You could still demonstrate your body shop talent with that as well.
Build it v12 rwd . Slammed (as the kids say) . Then a north v south drag race with a v8 pajero from Birmingham ? .
Yes for sure, and you should make the first 500whp+ amarok
I'd love to see a v12 in an amarok. Keep the long bed because you need to cut a huge amount of metal out for drag tyres. I can't wait until it's all finished and you boys are doing huge burnouts in it.
F..k yeah, I'd like to see you guys put the V12 Tdi in, it'll be an incredible project, I never understood why VW put the 2.0ltr on the Amarok, Rj in Oz
Merlin Purple, and I would put the six speed manual from a viper acr, that trans can handle the torque!
you should do the build aussie style: BIG twin turbo v10 toureg diesel body dropped on airbags and tri colour paint.
how is that even a question of course YES!
Drop it
Fit the v12
And fit some audi parts (like maybe the steering, dash, seats, mirrors, breaks, wheels, fog lights basically whatever will fit and still look oem) on to the Amarok.
Spray it maybe alpine wite or some color the the q7 only came in or some audi color. (Those who know will know and the rest will hope just like work that was done)
Add a decent sound system maybe even from the audi and slap a 1.9 or 2.0 tdi badge on the rear
you can get quite alot of them in South Africa too
Watched the whole video. Drag suspension, wheels, tires, oh yeah v12 can't forget.. Then send it!! Interior n paint sorry that's the last on my list
I’m up in October if you want any vehicles doing guys 😁 I’d love to get my hands on an amarok
I wish we had these vws here in Canada 🇨🇦
AMAROK TDI RS I go crazy !! and also leave it beautiful ... spectacular I love it
greetings from Argentina
Get an sun coast transmission thats what all the fast trucks in merica run. Use the v12s bell housing and adapt it
Candy red with carbon skimmed accents 🤤
Go ham!! Showcase your skills. Who needs a hood with that jewel 💎 of a V12. Quad turbo show car!! Custom paint , sitting wide and low yet still able to hit a drag strip
Absolutely !
Wouldn't be easy, but if anyone can do it its you guys
I think you nailed it in the video smash the Q7 and Amarok together. V12, brakes, maybe even the interior? But a super Amarok or Amarok R 😀.
1000hp show vehicle sounds awesome. Crack on 🤣
Make a build series?
Will certainly do a series!
great video Ryan, if that V12 TDI fits the frame rails by all means, swap it out you will sell the power train easy from it, as for a transmission if ZF has nothing consider Tremec out of the states they build some of the best gearboxes around that handle power, and you can adapt any bell housing to them and if you need aftermarket support for an ECU Haltech will do custom stuff for you and have all the support you will ever get from any company, My friend is building a DEVIL'S JUICE 🔥 burning car a Camaro he bought new in 1979 5.7 litre V8 with a Detroit 8-71 blower on it and full custom fuel system now with 3 fuel pumps , Haltech is who he is using for it, they are the best at all the custom stuff, plug in all the goods enter your sensor types and everything is on a drop down list from every manufacturer globally is listed analog or digital and they can be mixed together, this car will be about 2000 hp when done, 👍 I am not saying build it like this thats for sure, with Darkside building it , it will be vey interesting and thats why i subscribe to this channel, it is always interesting.
Since you want to keep it RWD, you could use a Tremec TR6060 or T56 Magnum manual transmission. It cant "formally" take the amount of torque a tuned V12 TDI will produce, but it is largely used in close to 2000 hp cars. It also has a bolt on bellhousing, tall sixth gear (0,5 - 0,65), center hydraulic throwout bearing (clutch-slave) and is fairly compact. Or use something like an built NV4500HD for maximum strength.
Think this is the plan, Paul has the bits
Slammed on its arse big power V12 TDI, drag radials on the rear "world's quickest / fastest toureg"
nissan micra mystique for the colour, those chameleon ones from back in the day
The appropriate Alison transmission would take 1000hp no worries.
Only problem is supply in the uk.
Air suspension and v12 with upgraded turbos!
The 4.0 V8 is light and not too big. It got 424 hp in stock trim.
10am like clockwork!
If you can fit the v12 and a compatible gearbox and upgrade the diffs and stuff , program them to work. Jack it up.... The hubs 5x120 wont resist much , nor the cw s but if you guys can pull it off it will be unique..... Easy is not fun... Hard way is spectacular. You guys did extreme stuff like no one i would say do it... No one will ....
Manual wont take it eaven the audi is limited in 1st and 2nd gear.... Then chassie strengthen.... Couse it wont hold the beast in place. After suspension beefing it ways a lot in the front.... Rear will be very easy... Like full jackknife stuff ... Like ford corvair effects.
But if you can distribute some weith in the back gas tank and other stuff u might pull it off.
Would be something amazing tho. Make it offroad Worthy. V12 ... Power baby .... In a ute ...
Put the V12 from the Q7 into the single cab, then put the 2 litre TFSI motor into the Q7 haha
Yuuuppp slap that straight in!
Deck it, proper low, fit the V8 4.2 diesel, paint it Porsche Shark Blue, full Golf R/RS3 Interior. The V12 would cool as fuck though....
Definitely!!
Do it and keep the tsi badge
Short bed looks a bit stumpy, not sure I like it - definitely the V12, and if it doesn't fit you can always cut the bulkhead out...
5th wheel it and run a gooseneck camper trailer for race meets.
When are you guys doing this build? Or even a Touareg V8 swop. Im curious to know how compatible the engine would be in the Amarok??
Content should be coming very soon!
Full V12 tdi running gear, audi interior and make it a 1/4 mile monster
Try put the engine in a A7 or A8.
Would be intresting to se the power you can get out of the 4.2 tdi or the later 4.0 tdi if you tune the engine like you did with the A5 3.0 tdi that you got to 500hp out of🙂
Paint it malachite green ( original Sport quattro colour ) lowered on white banded steels 👌
Fill that big bed with batteries and make it a mega fast e amarok 🤪
Would the 4.2 BiTDI not be a better setup perhaps ? V12 i think would be a tad overkill. Sure it is a status to have it on your "done" list, but it would be a nightmare on the road unless you can make this 4motion. Interior is a MUST.
It's not the best idea but who doesn't like a V12?
100% yes v12 tdi all the way! will make some amazing content 👍🏻
