Just got one of these on clearance for 12 bucks. I’m a dork and I love ham radios or any kind of radio and I put this in my portable tool bag for the hell of it.

Nice review. I had considered this but opted for a China-made Runningbyte DR-01 from Amazon, on sale for $10.99 shipped. Bought a second one for my sister off-sale for $15.00 shipped.
It has 5 AM presets, 5 FM presets, sleep timer, standby timer and soothing backlight. I find the reception excellent. It's hard to go back to a slide rule after having the presets and sleep timer...unless you're into hardcore DXing.
Frankly, I don't know how they can price these radios so low.

Bought one of these from Walmart for $17 and change. My first pocket radio that uses "Penlight" batteries instead of a 9V. Works great with good battery life!

Hi all I bought the Sony ICF -26 a few years ago from best buy and I enjoy the overall performance. Would I buy it again. Yes ! It's worth the $17 dollars battery life is about 95 hours or more on 2 AA s😁

The headphone output is mono, not stereo. The speaker is disabled when the headphone is used.

@@ToolsElectroDIYI've bought two of these radios and each one has failed due to AM/FM/Power switch issues. The power comes on but neither AM or FM will connect. This happened with both radios in less than six months. And now, of course, Sony has discontinued manufacturing them so they can only be found used on Amazon, Etsy, eBay, etc. for double and triple the original $25 retail price. I wouldn't give $1 for a used or new one. They are a cheaply made child's toy.
Hello. I have a Rxy 160 model radio. this model is sony p26 replica. I bought it because it was cheap. Is it normal for the sound quality to sound like old walkie talkies? How is the sound quality of sony p26 and can i get stereo sound from earphone? and finally what are the differences between p26 and p27?
No stereo sound from this Sony. The Sony P27 appears virtually identical to the outgoing P26 but is a total internal redesign using a DSP chip whereas the P26 was all analog.
Can you tell me the purpose of the dsp chip? and this is available on the p27 model, right?
Also, aren't they both analog?

ICF-P26 is analog, ICF-P27 is DSP.
Worst transistor radio ever made. No surprise Sony stopped making them.
