      I’ve been wanting a cassette player for ages and my mum gave my little all her cassettes form the 80’s so I couldn’t use any, but today he gave me the original thriller cassette my mum got on the day it was released and I literally screamed and ran to get a Walkman because we only have a boom box. While I do own a few proper Sony Walkmans (a Sport and a more 90s Walkman) I do actually reccomend the By-Heart player if you don't want to get too much money into just having a modern, new player to listen to tapes. It's not a perfect unit, but I think it's just fine for the asking price. Haven't had any issues with mine, I use it quite a bit. So I'm not over using my older Sony models.

    DON'T BUY ANY OF THIS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE SONY WALKMAN IN THE LIST
    Consider looking for garage sales, thrift shops, and heck, even the Facebook Marketplace. Start off with cheap yet reliable models from Sony, Aiwa, Sanyo, Panasonic, etc. and none of the "new and modern" bullshit. You can at least snag one starting from $20 that is at least working and decent cosmetic condition. Or if you have the extra budget go for the early to late 90s slim model players if you want quality build and sound. If you want a recorder, either get a cassette deck or get a cassette corder from the same brands mentioned. Trust me and the other commenters here, going for the older players are suited for the long run.

    • @cookinuts1923
      @cookinuts1923 2 года назад +16

      You won't find a portable cassette player with all of these features (including a line-out) anymore. In fact, there is only one Chinese manufacturer that still manufactures portable cassette tape mechanisms. All "modern" cassette players these days are basically the same (and terribly cheap, very bad quality).
      The most "affordable" portable cassette player with everything you've been waiting for might be a Sony WM D3. If you have more money to spend, and wanted something really serious, the Sony WM D6C is the best choice for you! Look at Ebay, there are sometimes good deals…But prices for Walkman are going crazy.

      @@cookinuts1923 Thanks for the response ! I've been looking around since I posted the question, and got the bad news ... checking techmoan & stuff. I bought a SONY WM-BF22 (used of course from 1988) off ebay. It is in great condition and the seller said they had recently changed the belts. I paid £12 including postage. I actually got the same Jensen cassette player in the number 5 spot on the video, I must say, it’s very good option for someone who broke it. The recording is mono so you might not enjoy it, but it’s super rare for all of those other cassettes to be cheap and ugly, this one isn’t the case. it’s very, very good at what it does and got that radio which gets good readings from your radio stations, the recording is definitely not fun for me because you spend hours trying to put in your music(I put the my cassettes recorded on Spotify) and usually you get bored by the time your done, BUT ON THE OTHER HAND if your phone is dead or internet doesn’t work, this thing saved my life from boredom.
