Well said Lydia. People project their unhappiness on others. I'm 31, single, working on my postgraduate degree abroad, and I actually started this after quiting my past job in Kenya. The number of times people have told me how late I am for marriage and child bearing, are many. But, I don't feel late and I am happy where I am in life, I am so happy!! People cant understand how taht is possible. Most of the times, those who try to put me to marriage are the unhappiest and most broke.
Well,I guess the conversation I’m about to listen to matches with what I’ve decided this morning,I just blocked my boyfriend for asking me for money twice in less than a month of dating🤦♀️,both times I didn’t give him the money cause I believe asking for money is violating basic rules of dating.I’m really looking forward to listen to this discussion,oh,I’m 32 like her and ain’t taking anything less,my single life was/is peaceful
I’m in my 50s , being a people pleaser comes from being rejected by a parent , I have learned so much here , unfortunately my children are going through it,one day I will tell my story or write a book. Wish there was therapy in our days we would have avoided a lot of mistakes
Totally agree with you! Parental rejection makes children to grow up with insecurities that make them become ppl pleasers. This trauma response is not easy to work on. I agree with you therapy helps a lot.

Lydiah's life is so rich! She's a wealth of knowledge and I wish younger gals could listen and learn from her. They would maneuver through their young adulthood with more ease. She is woke in so many ways and at a fairly young age. The things Lydia knows, most of the women in our society get to realize in their late 40's and 50's.
Lydia should just start her own podcast. Her energy, intelligence, confidence, authenticity et al…you inspire many if you didn’t know. Thanks Lynn for bringing her on… PS: a part I liked the most is when she says some people will be wrong about you; criticize your life coz you are different; you aren’t doing what they are doing and it makes them question their decisions. Like “they are married at a certain at coz someone told them that’s what will make them happy”…then they see you aren’t married and no kids and they wonder how you don’t subscribe to their beliefs that marriage is happiness and most important. She is going places.
Now here is someone we're talking the same language! Indeed most parents don't know any better and I'm a witness... letting go of the victim mentality is a real game changer..#HEAL!!

Here is the message I need, I separated with my husband 12yrs ago, took children from him and that made him withdraw the responsibilities, am still struggling with children alone upto now and still single😢
Please make time everyday to consume therapeutic content which will enlighten, empower and help you to heal.. Eg @ Benjamin Zulu, woman of impact, R.C Blake's etc for me it's been only 18 months and so far we have a mutual/peaceful co-parenting arrangement. My ex has already remarried and the children enjoy spending time with him and the stepmom during school holidays.. Co-parenting after breakup is possible when there is enough respect and self love on both sides.
