It's one of the well written books and most relatable book I've ever read. Very transparent and raw. I enjoyed it. I was reading it during lockdown and I'll narate it to my mom and she loved it.
I watched this episode while going through what i call a rock bottom and what stuck with me is “this time, next year, things will be different” and i am holding onto this. i have faith and hope to come back to this with a testimony.
Bra Dave is such a brilliant Interviewer. Sis Ayanda actually raises her voice from time to time when she tells her stories because she can see how interested bra Dave is. That’s amazing.
Just finished reading her book last week and I’m in awe of everything about her. A complete page turner and gentle yet thought provoking awakening. For 1 to truly appreciate her book, you need to be honest with yourself and hold the bull by the horns. I encourage you to buy, gift and read her book. _Unbecoming to Become_
This is the best podcast conversation I have ever watched. I cried, I made notes, I reflected, I healed certain parts of me. I am so inlove with mam’ Ayanda. So so amazing. I can’t wait to get my hands on her book 🙌🏾
This conversation is envoking so much emotion for me as the first grandchild who is the only one who grew up in the home of all the grandchildren and now I now hardly even go there. I guess the assumption that men will take a home is the first fallacy of our times. The girl child definitely cares more about the family home. The only time i see the family home thriving is when it is anchored by a strong makoti or mafungashe.
“When I lost my father I lost both parents because my mother was emotionally unavailable because of the weight she carried “ very relatable to me… and the fact that I am 44 years and I am still dealing with those scars too. Your transparency sis Ayanda keeps on liberating me and making me understand myself better and better ❤ right from obtaining your book in 2019 when you personally signed it for me 😍to this day amazwi akho ayangakha 🙏🏽🌺
This was a beautiful watch. I love how she said that when a marriage fails, the woman is the one that is given the bigger responsibility of that failure. I just wish that the conversation would’ve also expressly highlighted how warped that is considering that convention dictates that the man is the head of the household. This was worth the time I spent watching it - I could watch this conversation all day. This podcast is the one. Bab’ Mashabela is brilliant. He was truly anointed for this. And so was she. Ayanda is a gift for black women, girls and families.
Wayichana Ayanda injalo you may be the first born yet not be annointed to carry certain tasks and only the anointed one can because he or she is the chosen one🙌🏾👏🏾
I played this interview for 5 minutes and had to pause it due to some distractions. I paused it for 2 weeks, and something kept saying don't close the page. You need to go back and watch the interview. Now I understand why. Thank you, Ayanda. You spoke to me in more than many ways. I learned a lot about how to be okay about telling your story.
I've always felt that i was misunderstood, because the power that i carry didn't allow me to take things as they are and run with them. I always question 'why' it's unfortunate that our parents didn't know most of the things. You become the voice and you brought back our power. I believe if we can see that power we can definitely change alot. Thank you once again Mama Ayanda and KingDavid what a refreshing conversation.
Thank you King David for affirming our queen in such a beautiful manner. We need more of her and we need her to realise what a powerhouse she is. Thank you! ❤
Bra Dave respect his job so much and his prep is on another level and for our guests,I'm out of words for her wisdom because I never saw her like that.
4:43 one aspect about Nguni culture that I like. Your maiden name continues to be recognised/honoured …MaDlamini, MaGumede etc. Which other culture maintain that?
The whole 4 hours of wisdom. This boy far has been my most favourite. No one has ever articulated my views on gender dynamics, parenting and marriage the way that she did. Thank you King David for this. Sis Ayanda you're a true gem❤❤
It's during the 2020 lockdown that I was able to watch some tv... that's when i saw her in isibaya... The reason I say this is she says things that reminds me of my grandmother who held our family together. After my grandmother passed on, the family gradually died, i now realize she held everything together
I agree with what she says about strength and how it's glorified. As someone who has been labeled a "strong woman", no one around me understands how heavy the title is.
This is a masterclass interview @KingDavid. Big up for making your guest feeling welcomed and at home. It’s just more than an interview it’s a heart to heart conversations. It shows that a lot of preparation went through in putting together everything. Definitely need to read Ayanda MaNgubane Borotho’s book 👌🏾👌🏾
I was so reluctant to watch this because I had preconceived expectations of what the conversation would be about but I'm so glad I ultimatelty pressed the play button in the end. Ayanda put words to some of my experiences i have struggled with for the longest time. Thank you David for facilitating this interview
Apart from brilliant guests you keep bringing here, King David is such a great host, knowledgeable, informative, and really clued up with societal issues and life in general, Big up David and long may you live!!!
Wow, what an interview. Ayanda, a very good story teller, enjoyed the flow in this conversation, King David, you are the best interviewer my man, keep up the good work.
Wow 👏🏼 MaNgubane. Talk about coincidence. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Thanks Ntate Dave for this one, I did not know much about her besides her character on Isibaya. I now want to purchase her book. Thank you ❤ a 3 hours well consumed for me. 💎

Eish , Ayanda what you've said about your Father's death, it's the same as my father. He died when he just turned 42 , and he left my mom behind and she was 39. A week before he died, he called us , my younger brother and sister including my mother, he told us that he forsee his death and told us whom he thinks is gonna kill him. And it was his pick and he was just elected as a mayor 1 year before. That was 2002. He gave us instructions what to do in his funeral. I miss him every da It was hard to take, then 3 years later I left South Africa 🇿🇦 for America, since then, I've never set my foot back in South Africa. I now have a wife and 3 kids , I always tell them how my good my father was and how he died. I'm still hurt. Thanks for sharing Ayanda
Wow. Yoh, this interview was emotional for me because God was talking through Sis Ayanda and giving me answers to questions I've been asking myself. Siyabonga MaNgubane Thankyou King David 🙏🏾
Phenomenal woman and a phenomenal conversation. I thought I was gonna watch 3 mins of it just to get a feel of it and move on, here I am almost 4 hours later and I think I might just repeat it. It's like an amazing journey through a conversation. I love it!❤🔥
Wow! Thank you so much for this interview, one of the best interviews by far! The way she views life is exactly the same as I do. The mere fact that I’m not the only one who views life that way, shows that I’m not crazy. Once again, thank you so much King David for such a wholesome interview. I really need to get my hands on her book.
You are definitely annointed for this Sir David. Amongst other things you are good at this is one of them. And the conversations with the guests are always great, it's nice hearing the guests speak and without even saying it explicitly sometimes you hear their purpose and passion. After so many episodes I am left either with renewed vigour that I will one day find my purpose and niche or with a deep pain that I will just be in limbo for ever. Weeee Shembe
Bra Dave I enjoyed the chemistry between you and Ayanda. I totally relate to her story, more than anything I feel she has affirmed what I am going through which is my journey with God on submitting to his call, unbecoming who I was and finding my power. I will get the copy of the book, this interview is amazing and rich, loved it.
I wish I could be David for just 3 hours to talk to uMaNgubane. I adore this woman. So much of the way she thinks resonates with mine. The distinct fact that she's super articulate gives her views an incredible finesse. ❤ ❤❤
Woman you are power, I am awoken to find myself as I go through confusing times. Thank you for your aunthencity which many in woman we get hated for oww the boldness. I am definitely running for your book. Gratitude but another thing you are a God sent to young females.
I so resonate with Aya on many issues esp about becoming a single mum. I also told my mother late into the pregnancy, there was a lot of "shaming" , had the baby & everyone wanted him. I also went for an interview whilst i was pregnant & got the job. The interviwers did not realise i was very pregnant. After that I "took on the world & life". His father last saw him when the child was four.. he met him now in 2022 (30 years later)! Like Aya, i have blessed the father & child reunion, zero reservations. Wait for it, life is full of surprises.
my two favorite people- King David and Ayanda- thank you so much for this. I've been following you separately and wow i bumped into this video-it has to be divine alignment. I see you and I salute the divinity within you.

In the Zulu culture, when the woman get married is called by her surname as Ayanda explained uMaNgubane, uMaNdlovu, uMaZulu etc. I know other tribes gived uMakoti a special name

What I can tell you is that I will be rereading that book I read 2 years ago . I have being going through the transformation of becoming all this time and I feel like Ayanda is not given the recognition she deserves. Out of all the lessons and wisdom from this podcast I’ll never forget this “this time next year , it might be different “. Amazing podcast❤ It is so true that we don't take time to process things through, instead we rush into things with so much hidden resentment and most of the time it does ruin the best relationships we get into. It's best if we create a conducive environment within ourselves first before others could come and dwell within and around us and visa versa. Wow,🔥now I wanna buy they book. I think it helped that David had read the book before the interview because he knew exactly what to ask.. MaNgubane syabonga ❤️❤️❤️
Wow really enjoyed this interview...I can relate so much with Ayanda experiences of culture, religion, patriarchal society and views on marriage. She echos all my beliefs about life ❤
King David, thank you for this conversation! MaNgubane, I have no words for you - I am in awe. I watched this with my children and my son kept saying, "It's like I'm listening to Mommy, this is Mommy mos!" Sisi, your voice has given me the wings to fly even higher because now I am sure that I'm not the only one "who's crazy", because that's how society deems people who defy the status quo. I have great respect for you. Your inner beauty that reflects even more radiantly on the outside, is amazing! God's best to you! 🌻🙏🏽😍
What a lesson to learn from KINGDAVID podcast hands off it's the best podcast in Africa and around the world its very educational and an eye opener for many things that i was not aware of 👏
Sisi your journey is very similar to mine especially oh being the chosen one with God and family but its not discussed that you will carry the baton. Its been 7yrs since I was home, but after your interview, I am going back home and fix things because sekuze kwabanezinkinga nakwengizalwa nabo enyameni.
I have been postponing to watch this podcast and little did I know I am delaying to listen to such an amazing and wisdom-filled conversation. This is conversation is so rich & nourishing. Thank you❤
David asks the most invasive (personal) questions in the most respectful and humble way. I like it for us.
Thank you for saying it my lady🙌🙌 The whole podcast brings out the best of responses because mahn King David asks questions with utmost respect.

The shows of polygamy is also a commercialisation of culture. The producers are making money and capitalising on it.

I feel I need to find the book

I am beginning to love my Tsonga Culture. A girl child is called by her father's name even if married. You dont lose your identify by marriage.
Yes!!!
same here😇
I believe and deeply feel that a child should be called my their mothers name ....... not to take away from what you said 😊
*BULL SHIT* You Forsake that name and use your Husband's name because now, you are United as one.

MaNgubane, I have no words for you - I am in awe. I watched this with my children and my son kept saying, "It's like I'm listening to Mommy, this is Mommy mos!"
Sisi, your voice has given me the wings to fly even higher because now I am sure that I'm not the only one "who's crazy", because that's how society deems people who defy the status quo.
I have great respect for you. Your inner beauty that reflects even more radiantly on the outside, is amazing! God's best to you! 🌻🙏🏽😍
I have not read Sis Ayanda's Book, I will definitely try and save to get it. We share so much on the views of society.
Also the title of this podcast doesn't do it justice King Dae Dae. This conversation was faaaaaar from just the topic of lenyalo.
So great!
What a lesson to learn from KINGDAVID podcast hands off it's the best podcast in Africa and around the world its very educational and an eye opener for many things that i was not aware of 👏
Deeply Educational. David is that Good 👌👌👌.
She is soo eloquent…every word feels like a needle and thread passing through sublime linen.
