Roger was not born in 1955. he was born in 1954 and he was not born in Massachusetts, he was born in Biddeford, Maine. When a video starts out that badly there is no point in watching the rest of it. lol

If you had watched you would have learned Roger's pronouns were she/her. She was 92 and died from Monkey Pox in Argentina.

I loved Roger's contributions to this old house. I was a landscape architect for a while. I am same age as Roger, and I wonder about all the chemicals I used early in my landscape career.

Having worked with TOH for many years, i have to say i was appalled at this video calling the other "cast members" dummies. I can personally attest to the fact that this certainly is not the case. Moreover.... Roger is a very nice man and this video while paying extreme tribute to his career, also gives off a vibe that he was the lead role in the show.
I think some people get a small amount of information that dont verify and just make videos.

There’s something about this style of British… I don’t even know what to call it….sensationalism?…that always comes off as insulting to the people being discussed and over-hyped. As soon as you hear that particular British accent, you know the presentation is just going to be an audible ‘National Enquirer’ presentation. It’s not going to be polite. It probably isn’t even going to be true.
I have to tell you when I heard the word “dummies” used I got instantly angry. I don’t believe people actually feel that way about the personalities in This Old House. I couldn’t believe that was said. Disgusting.

I have watched TOH off and on for years. I have never seen any of the contractors on the show right from when Bob Vila was the first host to the present ones now, plus all the spin offs since, conduct themselves with anything other than professionalism. I saw Norm Abrams when he came to a home show one year in Toronto and he was pretty much there as he was in the show, plaid shirt blue jeans and work boots. None of the participants were dummies. They all knew their jobs well and did them that way. Sucks to be this creator for his shoddy work and marked lack of tact and intelligence in this video. no thumbs up for you dummy

He retired in 2020, Kathleen died in 2010. He didn't retire to spend more time with his wife. The way he shuffled and hung one arm made me believe it was definitely due to illness.

I’m binging This Old House, now on season 39 and have say I’m very sad to see how stiff he looks. Hope it’s _just_ stiffness and not pain, but can absolutely believe just from seeing that presentation that Roger isn’t going to, (didn’t), last much longer.
I love this show and all the people in it, but I have to say that I always _really_ looked forward to seeing the landscaping. It’s just sad that he had issues that made him leave.

This video is nothing more than a headline grabber trying to capitalize on a popular subject. Stating "What Really Happen To" in your subject and narrating over a bunch of clips does not make you an authority on a subject. This is quite obvious to anyone who actually watched the show. As some others have said below in the comments Roger and the TOH team speak about his health and show departure in season 40 episode 2. Roger was always a great part of the show and will be missed by all. Let's all show Roger some respect and let him lead the private life he wants and deserves.

The first time I saw Roger wasn't on This Old House. He was on a series about pyramids. He helped make a miniature pyramid. They were trying to understand what was involved. It was in the early 1980's.

This is the dumbest comment I have ever read. How is anyone going to learn how to do something they’ve never done before by having someone else do the work? Plus the work wasn’t a one time thing, maintenance is a yearly responsibility.
