This is honestly my favorite band piece I've ever listened to. I love how the first and last thirds of the piece have the intensity and driving force of Ride, but the middle of it has more of a jazzy feel, like Sevens. I hope someday I'll be able to play this piece, either in my school's band or at a honor band of some kind.
Parker Lasala My high school band's playing it for festival, but I'm in college now. But at least I get to play sevens in my college band, and hear my high school band play it on Sunday.
I played this my Sophomore year almost 4 years back (Second Chair Trombone) my word was it intense to practice and 100x more to preform the jazzed section was so fun to play and so hard not to groove to the pocket fit so perfectly for you to just nod your head and groove you just HAD to keep focused. The ending for low brass was a beautiful finisher. Truly a masterpiece for those to listen to and a godsend for those to play
I performed this in my Senior year of high school in fall of 2019 (I was Third Chair Trumpet) and pretty much everyone in the band that year agreed that Parkour was one of the best songs we had ever performed
He announced that he was planning on writing this when he visited my high school band two years ago. I didn't know he was serious about it! We miss you Mr. Hazo! - Maloney Spartan Band.
Ehi , do you know the reasons why the name is parkour? I play the clarinet and practice parkour too so I would love to know something else about this piece
@@suzzoman I remember him saying something about how the activity fascinated him. How he wanted to learn how to tricks like that. That and the piece is pretty epic, much like a person running parkour. Yes I keep this story archived away in my brain
+Tristan June I'm an alto saxophonist in band, and I haven't even seen the score for this piece, and I can already tell that the alto part for this piece is amazing. Hazo writes the best alto parts. This might be my favorite Hazo piece, therefore, my favorite piece of all time.
Thank you SOOO much for your two cents in an attempt to try and belittle this performance. We all care about how much "better" an experience you had. No. Seriously. I'm so enthralled that your music is more important than everyone in this HONOR BAND DIRECTED BY THE COMPOSER HIMSELF. Again, thank you kind sir.

Im a sophomore in the top band at my school and let me tell you boy oh boy was it hard😂 i play trumpet and i had 2nd part which was still hard but were my trumpets at?
South Dakota State University just did the South Dakota Premiere of this piece and I just gotta say that I think we did it much better. This band seems drastically unbalanced. but that could also be the fault of the recording. I do think it is a great recording of it. I don't even care if you don't agree or post hateful things cause we recommendations from John Frantzen, a new up and coming composer and Brian Balmages.
Hannah your a flautist of the fannin county. Band your obsessed with Zelda and Armstrong is guilty of the death of doodle if you guess who I am ill sub to you

I’m playing it in band right now and let me say I absolutely hate it 😂
This song is harder than it sounds. Forreal
Did you mean every Samuel R Hazo song (cough cough ride)
pretty much for both. imagine them as a dci show
@@stubbornwasabi3994 no. Imagine this being an opener of a high school marching band field show.
As a player and conductor I would have to catch myself from "grooving" on the podium with those awesome "jazzy" sections... Awesome piece!

Played timpani on this song junior year of high school, brings back memories, such a great piece
TheBreadman904 same. not fucking easy, man
This would be an awesome marching show, with color guard or marchers running up ramps and walls similar to the Bluecoats show.
My Marching Band is gonna play it for next season! So excited!
Played this on alto saxophone sophomore year of highschool! What a blast this song is. Especially the alto soli
I am the timpanist this weekend at an all county band and we are playing this song. Kind of nervousness honestly it is a pretty beefy part
we used this through out our marching show this year. I love it so much
Gatta love how this is the cover to my playlist
Hazo & Mackey, the two Gods of awesome but hellacious pieces to play
2:42 Even though I am a Trombone player, DIS MY JAM!

I love it. Especially love the low brass feature just brilliant
Hardcore parkour for band. Great stuff!
Wut
I just finished playing this song in Honor Band in Cedar City and I will forever love this song.
My wind symphony is totally playing this piece in April. I am beyond STOKED.
This snare part is nasty, best thing you’ll ever play
The jazzy bit around 2:40 is brilliant.
This sounds just absolutely phenomenal. You are not very far from perfect, in my opinion.
wish we could play this piece in band... I play tenor and alto saxophone, i so wanna rock this piece!
Same here! I play saxophone, and I am in LOVE with this piece!

Same, I showed my BD and he was like "it's freaking hard man"
My highschool band is playing this in our concert performence..... It sounds awesome
dday097 damn you must be in college now
Hazo gave us this song to play himself :,) perks of being honor band.
Playing the snare part was the most fun thing I did in high school. So simple so groovy.
Tbh winds first attempt at the 5-lets smh
I’m auditioning this piece for wind ensemble 🎺 ! I’m so nervous eek
Now I can hear a feel the difference between a French horn and a mellaphone
I defanitely know the difference. One I want to throw off a bridge, the other I don't.
Aurum LP right! One I want to throw off a bridge, the other makes me want to throw myself off a bridge!!! :D
I'm in highschool and our symphonic band is playing this ITS HARD
isaiah Our regular concert band has to play it for graduation. The flute part has rhythms I don't even know how to properly count!
Silver Spoon That awkward moment when we might go to the same school
Rora Stalker.
Probably.
+isaiah us too! Does your band sound better than this?
ooo! dramatic beginning I love it
Anyone else cry from this performance?

Did you guys commission this piece? It's awesome! I will have the video of Marshall University wind symphony playing it in a few weeks!
I played in this ensemble... Oh the memories haha
Was this in the US or elsewhere?

I really hope I can get my director to let us play this piece.
Playing this on contra clarinet is amazing
This is one of the first pieces I have to practice. (I’m a freshman Bass Clarinet💀💀💀)
Bro managed to sneak in the melody from arabesque 2:17
begginning-DAMN SON
Good performance
Just sight read this not to long ago in class and nailed it first time
Favourite part 2:00
you make very awesome comments on these videos
Sounds very similar to ride
You need to stop typing. Please. You're embarrassing yourself. It's a great recording.

Your welcome.
@Lyramon So is mine Lyramon. It should be amazing.
DIntriglia how are you doing 7 years after you commented. Your life must have changed drastically
