Even a lake as big as Erie might have too much fishing pressure. Some fishermen get way too greedy with what they're keeping..that could be part of the problem..slot limits may eventually become necessary..but that never seems to work in many places its tried..millelacs in Minnesota comes to mind.
As long as you fish the "slot" the fish WILL come back. However, the commercial fishing basically negates all the good sport fisherman do during the season.
What about are neighbors to the north that commercial fish the Perch and walleye with Portuguese ocean trawlers.
