The National is CBC Television's flagship news program. Airing seven days a week, the show delivers news, feature documentaries and analysis from some of Canada's leading journalists.
What an incredible woman. Her resilience is an inspiration.
Forget native beauty queens who gain notoriety in plastic ceremonies of pomp and circumstance. THIS is a true indigenous woman role model.
Jez Russell truth!! Yakoke!
As is her mom and all her sisters... 4 sisters, a MD, PhD, Olympian and actress. All strong activists. They are just amazing. Their mom is a former model and warrior activist, then and now.
She is very gorgeous !
indigenous women should be in all parts of society so let's celebrate ALL indigenous women instead.
Wow, you can feel the pain in her face in that picture. Glad she stayed strong.
What a brave courageous beautiful smart wonderful woman Waneek is !! The Mohawk nation was on the just side of the oka crisis! They were right to protect their burial ground! A young teenage girl defending her young scared sister and that cowardly soldier stabbed her! I’m as disgusted and furious now as I was then when it happened!!
Its amazing that she carried that flag even though she was stabbed by the army.
We will never forget we will always remember 💯
Respect love this warrior we will never forget we will always remember warrior up no pipelines without consent
When the Mohawks were armed the army held back, when they laid down their weapons and surrendered the army starts beating them up and stabbing them.
Mauser 96 agreed
How the fk would u two know? Were u their or know anyone that was their? Probably not
@@thedude1982 we’re you watching some other video just now?

4Ks8 Fingerboardz same no lie
4Ks8 Fingerboardz Same 😂
@Mauser 96 You're a moron. Going around trolling people
Mauser 96 Why?
So as me
Never knew until a couple of years ago the 4 yr old sister in that photo is Kanietiio Horn. Remarkable family.
What a brave soldier to kick and stab an unarmed 14-year-old girl holding a 4-year-old child. Soldiers are thugs!
@Mauser 96 they were literally trying to build a _golf course_ over burial grounds. yeah, it was incredibly brave of that man to kick a teenager to the ground and stab her in the back
Not all soldiers are thugs, but then again you leftists equate patriotism to kissing Government boots, then you wonder why no one likes you guys.
I will always support the natives I will never support Quebec I will never support the army who did this. This was prejudice and barbarism
Just remember the first thing to run-out-the-door is the 'truth', and there are always three-sides to every story.
great job.....!!!
6:28 its called "bunkering up" soldiers returned from peacemaking missions often react the exact same. Bless her Olympic-Mohawk heart.
Queen!
Yet we as Canadian's have the nerve to celebrate 150 years on Canada Day ? More like 150 years of Lie's .With the Oka crisis to the TRC , to the M.M.I.W. To Idle No More. For every time those propaganda ad's on celebrate 150 years on Canada Day? I turn the channel.
Philip Holmes why did the oka crisis begin/start
OKA
🌬🌀♨️💋❤🙏☀️🦅
That’s my auntie no lie my dads a kirby and my moms side is a horn
Me to
A role model
For meth heads!
Smart, beautiful, real, strong...
My question is: why were bayonets mounted on the rifles?? Having blades out in the open like that is an invitation for disaster...
Canada should be ashamed of themselves.
you said it...you got my vote...i voted once...
She look like one of the warriors
123 Blake’s she is a warrior in more ways then one
Travis Walsh how??
Travis Walsh looks like a criminal to me
123 Blake’s the criminals are the ones who stabbed her how would you feel if the government wanted to build a golf course over the graves of your loved ones
Travis Walsh they killed a cop......
The photo of Horn-Miller on the ground shows the soldier so calm, but doesn't show his bayonet with which he just stabbed her, hard enough to knock her over. If it hadn't hit her on the sternum, it could have killed her. What gives?
+Master Mariner You're an idiot.
At the Sydney Olympics told me and some of my classmates in Calgary for a native school conference and she said that at the Olympics her suit ripped of and she had a spare and her teammate went to get it and her other teammates went around her to cover her but Sydney has underwater cameras and she was shocked after to see her bottom bear nude
I would love to see an indigenous prime minister.
Don't count on it!
Wait didnt they shoot a cop
Who ordered Canadian soldiers to be deployed against Them. That guys face and name should be all over this interview.
MULDOON!!!
The provincial government of Quebec requested to the Federal government for Military Assistance to resolved this crisis because it under the National Defense Act.
Well the Police tried first and got shot at (and 1 killed) so yeah they called the army...
Hi antie
I would vote for an Indigenous prime Minister
Prime Minister Horn Miller
WHAT THIS IS CRAZY. I'S THIS AN INTERVIEW OR AN AUDITION😴
way would the military have a knife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????
are you stupid?
not in a war zone...riot?? .....
+Ross Jason Boehm Lai soldiers have a standard kit which includes rifle, sidearm, mags, gas mask, bayonet (knife), frags, sometime smoke grenades, flashlight, medkit ect plus alot of them have personal pocket knives on top of that so yes they always have knives actually alot of soldiers usually have a knife in and out of uniform because it just generally comes in handy for anything like to open or cut things or even to unscrew something. even cops carry knives
While I do not discount what happened to this woman at Oka back in 1990. She has been fortunate enough to be able to tell her story many times over since that incident. Strangely, the CBC, CTV, Global nor City-TV has extended the same courtesy to the family of the murdered QPP officer from that time.
Begone colonizer
I watched a CBC documentary where they talked to his sister and her husband. Wtf are you talking about?
ruclips.net/video/Zu2R4BnaEy4/видео.html
Just cuz you haven’t seen it don’t mean it doesn’t exisy
@@jacksonyoung3497 What good does 'CBC talking' to anybody do??? Just camouflage for the inept socialist gov't of the day. It was a criminal and treasonous act committed on the part of the Organized Aboriginal Crime Syndicate, plain and simple. Wtf are YOU talking about???
She had camo on and they killed a police officer
A police officer who was trying to force them off of their land
Eoin Mcgirl he was just doing his job
123 Blake’s that’s literally the defense auschwitz guards used
Eoin Mcgirl are you really comparing Canadian police officers to crazy nazis
123 Blake’s well they tried to force people off of their land based on race so are they that different
