I had cats for years, and while we mostly gave them water to drink, they LOVED having milk. Any time they'd see the bottle of milk coming out of the fridge, they'd meow for it.
About cats and milk. Most mammals become lactose intolerant in adulthood. Humans are the exception. Tolerancy is a genetic mutation developed in north europe and it hasn't yet reached all the population. This is why there is a higher percentage of lactose intolerance in populations without or with low mix with european genes. In the end, lactose intolerance is not a disease but the default for mammals.
Can a similar mutation appear in other mammals? sure, but right now, as a norm, don't give milk to an adult cat. Not good.
I think I've heard lactose intolerance is also something that develops after a long period spent not drinking milk, but north Americans and Europeans do love themselves their milk.
