I had an experience I will never forget in when I came across a Richard Serra art instillation in Bilbao Spain circa 2018. The art work was a maze of steel walls maybe 15 feet tall. There was a warning posted that one might lose their sensory perception and a complete distortion of reality could occur. I looked at the warning, viewed the maze from above from the 2nd floor and thought it was odd they posted the warning for a piece of art. Well, they actually should have posted that warning in flashing lights, because I experienced pure terror finding myself lost among a swarm of confused and frenzied people like me trying to escape this piece of art. Yes, art does have the power to move us, Richard Serra you very clearly proved that point to me. Thank You!

RIP Richard Serra. I was a young sculptor in 1970, and his work had an impact on me. Growing up in Cleveland, a "steel town", there were relics of heavy industry that were just miles from my childhood home. I loved the rusty iron on the larger than life cranes, & derricks. The rusty ore ship hulls, the piles of rusty furnace slag. In college at the time, studying art, we traveled to see his work, and experience them. They were monumental. Of course they were newly created at that time, and hadn't been aged by the elements yet. They are getting even more interesting as they rust.

Don't we all! Death is one thing humanity is well acquainted with. ( Why are we so despicable? So hateful! So proud! ... It's a big mistake! May he rest in peace

We saw his installation in Bilbao, and as art I have no idea what he was trying to say, but it was cool, and had a lot of fun echoes.
