Samuel West has been a wonderful version of Seigfried. Mojo is so relaxed with his trainer while the actor describes their work with a calm enthusiasm. Oxymoron, but Samuel West is lighting up as he speaks.

Samuel West, in particular, is truly superb in showing us Siegfried in all his many and complex sides. It's the very best role of his career, and the one for which he'll be the most fondly remembered. This episode - with its flashbacks to Siegfried's WWI service, showing how that partly shaped him into the man he became in the 1930s - and the season finale provided us with some of his finest work in all three seasons. (He also comes across in these "behind the scenes" videos as a really wonderful person, too.)

Well done!! Thank you Mr. West for making magic with “River”, the storyline was heart wrenching, your performance was perfect, and if you hadn’t told us you didn’t ride bare back no one would have been the wiser!! It has been decades since my bare back days but I’m sure you could do it!! Love your show and the whole ensemble, we look forward to Sunday nights to see what will happen next in the dales!! Bless you all!!🙏

Season 3 episode 3 was one of my favorites. I loved the back story about Siegfried during the war and his connection with the horses that served in the cavalry, interspersed with the story of the racehorse. Such great storytelling and acting! This is such a delightful series and although I'm not usually a fan of remakes, this one is arguably better than the one from the 70's.

God, West is such a good actor that I had to keep telling myself while watching this that I was listening to the real Samuel West talking, not Siegfried. Pretty amazing.

I had an idea it was a double when the horse was galloping. Unless you are an experienced rider that would be very difficult to near impossible for an inexperienced rider to do. Especially bareback.

It was a great story but Siegfried (Donald Sinclair) was born in 1911. He never served in WWI. This reboot series deviates a lot from James Herriot's books.

I did not even realize they had renewed the show. This was the first episode I had seen this season. Sadly I was really turned off by last season. The main reason was Samuel West's Siegfried. I kept thinking all last year, especially when someone offered Herriot a new job, that in real life, he would not have been able to get away from Siegfried fast enough (Both him and Tristan). So I turn the show on this season and what do I see? The Siegfried character acting like a total ass again. Then I noticed that next week they are going back to Trikki-Woo...which they seem to do when the show gets into trouble.
